this show; but I did watch Jericho. Obviously these shows of fan support for a series can work. I wish VM fans all the best. I hope another network smartens up and decides to air a show people actually want to watch. So many new shows start up every year and most of them don't make it past the first month... deservedly so. Why do networks feel the need to cancel shows people are actually watching?

Anyway all the best to the VM fans. I hope your show comes back.

It's sounding more like that the decision to end GALACTICA after the upcoming season came from the producers/creative side of the series rather than the networks. I'll side with the creatives on this one. If they feel their story will be done, then let them tell their story the way they need to.

Hey Guys, Herc, I think this effort here is pretty awesome. I think (in addition to the Mars Bars Campaign) that on Monday we should ALL also download the final episode of Season 3 "The Bitch Is Back" off of ITunes the same day. That way the show can rocket straight to number 1 on the ITunes Chart due to all of the downloads. Also up until July 2nd, Target is selling Season 1 and Season 2 with a deep discount price of 22.99. Maybe we should all purchase a box set on the 14th of June right before the deadline date. What do you guys think? Whatever we decide I am down. I can't order a Mars Bar on Amazon for whatever reason, but when that gets fixed I will surely do so.

Jericho had naturally far more viewers than VM. VM just wasn't making money for them. Let's say enough bars get sent and by some miracle they put it back on air. And then season 4 sees only 1.5 million -2 million viewers per ep. I know, at least we'll get 8 episodes or whatever...I just don't think that Network management sees that as strategic at all. Jericho beat established shows in the ratings - it probably was a mistake to cancel it. VM's mistake was being tied to a crap-ass network like UPN/CW. If it was on the big 4 or FX or something, it would have done better. Michael Ausiello of TVGUIDE got a Ferris Wheel put up to try to save Everwood! Look where that got that show - season 2 isn't even on DVD (a travesty by any measure, when I can buy ALF season 2 on DVD).

It's not like EVERYONE here doesn't give a shit about world causes/issues. I donate what I can to charity like most people who can afford to do so do. I am also fortunate enough (that in addition to giving to charity) I have disposable income as well. (Not everyone in the talkback lives in Mom's already cliched basement.) We are all in an effort here to save one of our favorite shows. What's the problem with that? I'm sure the majority of the folks on here are not assholes who ignore the grander issues of the world. I really don't see any problem with sending in money for something that could potentially continue my TV entertainment on Tuesday nights?

Also Mars Bars for starving kids would be bad anyway. They have no nutritional value.

Did anyone actually consider that Mars bars are not available in America, and fans would have to scramble to find some? I'm almost thirty, I've been eating candy bars all my life, and I've never even seen a Mars bar. I want to save this show as much as anyone, but I'm not seeing much of an organized, well-thought-out effort, like the one for Jericho. Symbolism is nice, but putting pen to paper and stuffing it in a mailbox will probably be more effective.

I like the idea of making Veronica Mars #1 on the iTunes download list. I think the most effective thing would be to either start ordering those DVDs from Amazon to move that up the list, or, if you can't afford that, donate to one of those funds that buy the DVDs and give them to libraries. The idea is to have the CW see that Veronica Mars is the topseller at Amazon and iTunes. A letter-writing campaign would seal the deal.

In any case, Veronica Mars really isn't worth even the most minimal effort(or the jail time) that would be required in order to try and save the show. Let it go, geeks.

To even consider watching it BASED ON THE NAME "Veronica Mars" alone. I thought it was a girl show that was a Buffy rip off based on previews alone. I only started watching late into the 1st season and that is only because MTV aired a re-run on a Sunday and it was the Mac Switched At Birth episode. I tuned in afterward and never missed an episode. Veronica Mars was never marketed properly, and some people will watch it and hate it. But to me, I love the show, the writing, the cast and the great acting of Kristen Bell who keeps it all together. Kristen Bell will shine on even if the show is definitively cancelled.

However, I had 20 odd S1 eps waiting to be watched on my PVR, so I sat down for a whole weekend without eating properly (apart from crisps and coke) and watched the whole lot. I never imagined how clever, character driven and emotional the show would be. Everything from the story to the characters to their dialogue and interaction, the relationships of the main characters and of VM and her father, the acting... EVERYTHING... some of the best TV I have seen since Joss Whedon left the airwaves. SUPERB.

if the show gets revived. How sad.

First, you are pouring energy into a dumb show, trying to support people who don't give a flying fig about your happiness or well-being.

Second, you will only manage to entertain the underlings at the network office who actually have to open up your silly offerings. They will say, cool! Free food! Pass it amongst themselves, take some home, and perhaps save one in their cubicle drawer.

Besides that, you will not accomplish a damn thing. So which one of you dumbasses managed to get Paris Hilton out of jail early?

Why don't you guys do something really meaningful, like volunteer for some Democrat's election campaign? Or go to your local homeless shelter and serve a hot meal to someone who really needs something yummy to eat? Is it because it would involve more than giving your credit card number over the internet? Lameasses!

spikerules2: Donations in the name of VM works for me
by SpyGuy

I honestly wasn't trying to get all soapboxy, but it just annoys the crap out of me when fans will donate food (or candy bars, in this case) to save a TV show for their own self-interest without at least trying to think of the Bigger Picture here.

So yeah, I think a campaign to donate Mars bars (or something better) in the name of VERONICA MARS sounds like a much better idea than bombarding TV execs with something they'll either throw away or leave out in the break room for people to take home to their kids. At least someone's using their brain today...

"like volunteer for some Democrat's election campaign?" I don't know, maybe because I'd like some one intelligent in office? (Sorry, couldn't help myself. But now on to my real point) Why are you automatically assuming that no one here does any of those things anyway? Who's to say that the people sending Mars Bars don't also donate to charity? Cause you know that when you assume you make and ass out of you (to quote the great show we're trying to save).

I don't have high hopes for this campaign either, mostly because the CW has made dumbass decisions from day one (let's see, resurrect 7th freakin' Heaven, for one). And they already ruined the direction of the show by dumbing down the arcs. But damn it, this show is FAR more worth saving than the mediocrity that is Jericho. Even if the plot on that show gets exciting, we already have several (much better) shows about a group of people banding together to survive and beat those wish them harm. Whereas, Veronica has always been a one of a kind. I've said it before and I'll say it again. VM was the most clever, poignant and funny show about young people on the air today. There's a reason why Buffy fans were into it. I think it's a shame it ended when it did, but I'm skeptical about a new configuration. I'd almost rather see the VM movie, than a reinvention without the majority of the characters.

But more to the point, even if a thousand Mars Bars are sent to CW/Ostroff, it won't make much of an impression. So a thousand people love the show, bfd. It lost money for the CW and the new FBI/21 Jump Street concept won't have any of the old cast members save Bell and maybe a couple of very minor VM players (in other words, no Jason Dohring, no Tina Majorino, no Percy Daggs, no Enrico Colantoni, etc.). So you guys are campaigning for a very different show than the one that was on for 3 years. Is that really what you want?

Do you really need any of that? Wouldn't food for the homeless be a better place for your money? Unless every bit of your disposable income goes to feeding the homeless I personally feel that comments like that are hypocritical. People donating to this are fans of the series and would like to see it continue. I donated 12 bars, and for the record... The CW/UPN gave this show a lot of time to develop in a ratings powerhouse for their network, it never happened. Ratings actually went down this year, not a good sign. If I was Dawn I would say, "Sorry, we gave you many chances to get the ratings up, but instead they went down, it is over."

No? Well it might save a good show. Whatever. That's such an idiot argument. I agree with whoever said that if you don't think about how the money you spend on DVDs or movie tickets or any other entertainment could also help with the world's problems, then you should shut the fuck up about people spending minimal cash on a show-saving campaign. Hypocritical bastards.

Just kidding. We all know nothing happens in Darfur. I mean, the place is boooooooring. The whole town shuts down by 9 PM. And just try finding a decent cup of coffee. Paris Hilton would hate it.

season 3

i've been thinking more about how many people disliked season 3 for whatever reason... i mean, there's no question that seasons 1 and 2 were better (i, for one, am a rare individual who preferred season 2) than the current incarnation of vmars, but i guess the question is - if season 1 and 2 didn't exist and season 3 was actually the first, would you have liked it? it's hard to say because there's a lot of story that came before, but just generally... i think that if i'd only ever seen season 3 i'd still consider it one of the best written/acted/produced shows on network television. that's just my opinion though.

And I think I'd agree with you. I also prefer season two to season one, if only for how season one has a lot of bland filler episodes at the beginning, whereas season two just kicks off great, and keeps going. Yes, it does become a little too complicated, but I didn't mind.

Have you ever used Amazon.com before? Like do you have an account and have had stuff shipped to you before? In that case try to log back on right now and edit the shipment if you still can, otherwise Amazon will be shipping it to your last ship-to address. This happened to me once, my ex got something I ordered because 5 months before I ordered her books and had them shipped to her house... so it automatically saved her address (so that it had both her address and mine) and next shipment it went to her. Granted, I should have paid attention to where its going, but I didn't know... I mean you sign in to your account, it has all your information... you assume its going to put in the address you put as your ship to address, I didn't even remember shipping anything anywhere else so didnt even pay attention... I knew that loads of times before it automaticaly shipped to me so just assumed it would again. So, long winded boring story aside.. If you have an account they will ship to your saved address... and at the last address you shipped to at that if you shipped to multiple locations.
Shipping Address

I think it might be okay if the wrong address is in there because they said they were going to suspend individual shipping in favor of a bulk shipment. But then again... I suppose you could wind up with some Mars Bars... but if you put in the code "Veronica" I think it would go into the bulk package. Keep your fingers crossed.

Once again, you can save all the Amazon-related hassles by just contributing to the bulk order fund via paypal, at scramblenetwork.wordpress.com/ mars Also, the really big news: we have officially exhausted the U.S. stock of MARS Bars!!! Seriously, they're all gone, several thousand of them. So now, we're on to marshmallow. You know, "Veronica Mars, she's a marshmallow." This will be great, too, because bags of them are a lot bigger than candy bars, so the shipment will look all the more impressive. Just give to Paypal to help out the Marshmallow fund. Finally, it looks like these will be delivered via freight on an 18 wheeler. That should be pretty cool!

There. $20 is a small price to pay to help pummel a rich TV executive with an embarassment of chocolate. Take this 18 wheeler full of saccharine treats as an indictment on your vacuous, disposable existence!!! ... What, this is to save that Veronica Mars show? Huh, well that's a plus too, I guess.

I was totally on autopilot and did the same thing. I emailed the seller and they responded: "Dear Fan, Thank you for your order and support. All Mars bars will go to Dawn Ostroff for the campaign so not to worry! Post on our blog at www.theindianfoodstore.blogspo t.com if you have any suggestions! Let's hope this works! Thanks, Sachin Agrawal, Manager TheIndianFoodStore".
