Super Bowl Championships since 1985!!!

Count it!

(Ed. Note - So-Crates is originally from Buffalo and has no right to speak about a lack of Super Bowl Championships.)

I'm more impressed by Buffalo's 4 conference championships (and Super Bowl losses) in a row than by Chicago's lonely trophy, and certainly more than their overachieving pretenders to the throne from last season.
I'd watch Dennis Farina...

read me the ingredients on all of the food labels in my house. He is so damn good at what he does it hurts my brain to comprehend how acting can be that good. John Dahl is awesome too (but it ain't real Noir! Out of the Past with Robert Mitchum & Kirk Douglas is noir. Modern noir doesn't exist because that is what the film snobs told me.

No joke man, it is refreshing to hear that sentiment displayed by someone who is (presumably) not from Buffalo. While everyone likes to concentrate on the lost Super Bowls, let's not pretend that winning 4 conference championships is some sort of walk in the park. Not even the vaunted Patriots have done that.

But, to be clear, I would trade those 4 conference championhips for a single Super Bowl trophy quicker than I would trade Rob Johnson for Tom Brady.
Any relation to Roald Dahl?

I'm too lazy to go get it, but it does look pretty cool. Ben Kingsley has one of those awesome American accents like Brian Cox, where we really don't sound like that but you wish we did. I would actually fuck Tea Leoni, just for the record.

If not for that I would be all over this. And for the record, The Third Man.
Dahl's output has suffered a bit in recent years...

Joyride and Rounders were fun enough bits of fluff, The Great Raid was merely okay, and Unforgettable was very much forgettable. But back in the day when he first started out he made a hell of an impact with his first films, starting with Kill Me Again, and especially the one-two knockout punch of Red Rock West and The Last Seduction, these were just truly great films through and through. Here's hoping this latest marks a return to old form, and not just another largely forgettable notch on the belt like much of his more recent output. We'll see I guess.

He clearly had no overriding passion to make a war flick - im guessing he just wanted to pay tribute to his father with a Pacific Theater movie

take some public transportation and quit yer bitching. After the show, be sure to head over to Pequod's Pizza on Clybourn for the best pan pizza in the city.

There are millions upon millions of people who work in the Chicago (me included)...this is pretty much geared to them. Hence...Chicago readers. If you're in a suburb...doesn't really work. Heck, I live in Lincoln Park...it's 2 dollars to take a 10 minute L train to the loop. There are numerous ways to get there... I for one am very excited to see the movie. I hope I get to go, but I'm not sure if my "noir'ish" film choice was quite "noir'ish" enough.

...never have..I find that magazine geared towards the douchebaggery type (Gatti boys, etc). I was turned on to Pequod's years ago from a buddy who lived in Old Town. I believe "carmelized" is the term for the burnt edges. That being said, Lou's is a good pizza too, but Giordano's is a bland blob of cheese and generic sauce.....their sausage is weak too. How can you have a good pizza with weak sausage? Not possible.
Woohoo!
