Nice, first of the Hater Brigade. I'll take a stab at your "talking points": 1) I have NO problem identifying the individual robots. But I've noticed this tired excuse from people who are bitching about not getting near-replicas of the G1 cartoon designs. 2) We know the script has retained the overall plot and several noted scenes. Believing that nothing has been changed since the "draft", is silly and ignorant of the screenwriting process. 3) Regarding Bay and Murphy, they weren't the only ones who had a hand in this "pie". 4) Using a Volkswagon for Bumblebee was NOT an option. VW would not allow their product to be used in the presumed violent context of the movie. And since Megatron is generally considered to be the most powerful and feared Decepticon, one might consider that every part of his being is essentially a weapon. I suppose that's just one way of looking at it with your imagination instead of offering a lame-o "giant robot that doesn't eat" remark. (Conversely, I'm still waiting for one of the diehard G1ers to explain to me why they had noses in the cartoon.)

Okay, how about this one? be it the designs on a butterfly's wings, or the stripes on a tiger, or the feathers of a peacock, in nature, many animals have features designe SOLEY to make them appear more dangerous and formidable than they are. It's a very common evolutionary trait. Megatron's teeth may not be functional the way a human's are, but if they help make him look like a bad ass, and intimidate enemies to not fight him, they certainly serve a purpose.

Is because if it succeeds, fanboys lose everything they've fought for. The whole "Adaptions need extreme fidelity to source material" argument that fans have been pounding into the pavement for Superhero moves, which Hollywood has finally been listening to, gets shot to hell. If an adapted film can change a lot of the details and rock, then anyone can come in and put their personal stamp on whatever character they want. and that will be seen as a good thing again.

...refers to Cassavetes' 1968 film "Faces". In that film, our "faces" were Gena Rowlands, Semour Cassel, John Marley, etc. In Harry's post, the "faces" were of the Transformers. Film geek humor at its most obscure. Cassavetes' film is one of the earliest American independent films ever made, and Cassavetes himself is considered the "father of American independent cinema". It's funny that in the film "Faces", Seymour Cassel does an impersonation of a robot, referring to the way we sometimes live our lives in a programmed mechanical way. So maybe Harry was even referring to that. Film geek humor at its most obscure. However, if John Cassavetes had actually made a "Transformers" movie, about a quarter into the movie, the Autobots and Decepticons would probably question their reasons for beating each other up after Ironside blows a gasket, and start doubting the choices they've made up to this point. They'd all make up, and throw a mad obnoxious robot party on Earth while getting drunk off WD40 and ethanol. I also love the South Lamar location. The Godfather Pizza is covered in shredded basil leaves, and they have Spaten on draft. Best damn theater in the world – until the downtown location opens at the Ritz? (We’ll see… will the pizza measure up?) I get and respect that you have an opinion. It's constructive and valid as any other (opinion). Do I, having some design experience, see where I would have made some dif. decisions? Sure. Megs could have had his helm extend down between his eyes to look more G1, sure. Bumblebee looks a little too "no disassemble!" for my taste in the beginning (though it is obvious he goes through an upgrade in the film ala 2 faces and 2 cars). If they were smart, megs would be critically wounded and have to merge his Darwinian self with an "inferior" land-bound vehicle like a tank. It would fuel the leadership divide amongst the decepticons (SS as flight-worthy, Megs proved a failure as a landbound vehicle), and give Megs even more reason to HATE the autobots and humans. Peace.

Even though I know that he has lips for most of the movie, (all thirty minutes he's in the sucker), the mask looks okay. Bumblebee looks like some sort of Dean Koontz Horror Doll, however, and seems far more scary than anything else. And Megatron? ........................He looks like a Gremlin wrapped in Tinfoil.

about. I liked it, if you like the first two, it's worth seeing. If you didn't care about part 2, don't bother. The special effects are great, but the characterization is minimal and they throw in, literally, everything from the previous two films. There is absolutely no doubt that the special effects sequences are stellar - I'd like the guy to direct a JLA film with a good story.
