So they have like three mid-season replacements?...

if the network didn't have American Idol, 24, and to a lesser extent, House, they'd be in serious trouble.
Lesser extent?

House is rocking the ratings, man. It's like the highest rated show on television next to the aforementioned Idol and like... CSI Vegas? House kicks ass.

Unfortunatly, the rest of this line up LOOKS like ass. What's the deal with Conner Chronicles? They've been talking that one up for MONTHS and now it's a midseason, who-gives-a-shit, we'll-cancel-it-after-3-episod es replacement fucktwat?! Bah humbug. TV next year is gonna be teh suck. Thankfully, Japan continues to pump out wildly exciting, visually stimulating, well written anime series by the dozen, soo... I'm cool with that.

And I told them they should have killed off Jack last season. I love Kiefer, and 24 was one of the best of the bunch for 5 long years, but it's time to hang up them spurs, Jack. Just... just don't let what's-his-face take over. You know... that GUY... the one sitting in the corner preening and waiting for Jack to take one in the chest. Fuck, why'd they have to kill off anyone I would care about to continue the Bauer legacy? Tony, Curtis.... Tony? Heh.

Yea, I think 24 should have died along with the Soul Patch. Too late now, fawckers.

Fox would struggle with MyNetwork TV for 6th place in the ratings.

Riddle me this, AICN'ers: why does House need AI as a lead-in? They could move it to Monday, Wednesday or Thursday at 8 therefore giving other shows a chance at the coveted Idol lead-in. TEST PATTERNS can get good ratings in the post Idol slot. WHY waste it on your network's #2 show?

is the most obvious idea for a show in history. i've been saying since the first time american idol came on that it'd be so much more legit if they had actual bands...you know, people with musical talent as opposed to people trying to be a pop star and making me throw up.

Looking at the complete network schedule for the autumn I must say that, in terms of new shows at least, this looks like the worst line-up for almost a decade. Bizarrely, the only two new shows to catch my interest are on Fox. New Amsterdam and Jezebel James.

Curse you ABC for not picking up The Thick Of It. The only new show which had the potential to be great rather than good and you drop it. Can't a cable channel make it instead and do it the way a show about backroom politics is meant to be done? Just like the original UK version - with copious amounts of the most incredibly imaginative swearing.

I am not a reality man, but it was great seeing him go to real struggling restaurants and absolutely tell them why they sucked, and showed them how to have a fighting chance of not going bankrupt, and watching most of them ignore him and go back to doing whatever they wanted, and then crying when they went out of business. Be interesting in the world of PCness, whether this show will fly, or whether Americans will not like a guy outright telling people they are stupid...

The official comment that was made during today's upfront was that "it is not on the schedule." It's a subtle difference, but it's still not the same as official cancellation. (That's probably just semantics to keep Seth MacFarlane from throwing a fit, though.) Meanwhile, though, "Drive" has little or no chance for return. I asked Peter Liguori, Fox’s President of Entertainment, point blank as to whether the show might yet be saved if it somehow sets ratings records when its last two episodes air on July 4th. His response: “As near and dear to my heart as that show is, I would say that that’s definitely a long shot.”

Of course it didn't make the grade. It's a freaking Rober Smigel show. Isn't the silence during his SNL bits enough fair warning that it will suck? Also glad Seth McFarland didn't get yet another POS show on the air.

You mean like O-Town?

"The Winner"? Wasn't that cancelled after the first episode? I remember the pilot airing like 6 times in a week then never seeing it again. Or were they different episodes?

Still pissed about "Drive". I fear "Sarah Connors Chronicles" will suffer the same fate - Thrown into that ghost-town of television viewing between February Sweeps and May Sweeps, and expected to pull in AI numbers.

Saw the Fox upfront. The Sarah Connor Chronicles looks like it has potential, but try to have a conversation about it. I guarantee you won't be able to say the title more than three times before your tongue trips over it. I've got a big problem with the look of all the sitcoms. Don't know how they'll be airing, but they all look like they've been shot with both 4x3 and 16x9 framing in mind. Just a whole lotta dead frame on both sides. Makes for a very dull composition. The show I was most impressed with? K-ville. Never thought I'd say this, but Anthony Anderson really impressed me.
The grid was good. As for the shows: ha ha ha ha.

Are the suits being satirical? Are these "series" for real?

Amsterdam and Canterbury could have the requisite "I see dead people."

I wouldn't worry about either of them being dead. According to various sites, both actresses are confirmed as still being in the primary cast next season. Only Annette O'Toole has been removed from the roster. She'll be replaced by Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy Olsen). I'm betting that Lana was miraculously and conveniently whisked away as that truck passed her car. Martian Manhunter? Flash? Or maybe somebody just wanted to fake her death. I wouldn't be surprised if Lana did it herself to escape Lex. As far as Chloe goes... She's a meteor freak now. Totally new rules.
Shame to see...

... the War at Home get the axe. The show pulled their final trump card when they outed Larry's best friend though. Half of the fun was seeing his awkward gay inner monologues. The rest of the cast, especially the daughter and younger son, were super weak.

God, I love Ramsay. So are they showing the original, or are they making like a totally new version in the States or something? Anyone know? Either way, the lack of swearing will kind of suck, but I guess not much can be done about that. Also, unrelated note, but what the heck is going on with The Loop already? It was pretty funny, but the main reason I've been waiting for it to come back is that blonde chick. She was so hot. And she dressed really slutty in like every episode. It was sweet.

Especially when you consider that 24, Lost and BSG are not coming back until 2008, which technically is "mid-season." In fact, I'm looking forward to mid-season, because we're gonna be SLAMMED with good stuff to watch. And at least we'll have Heroes and Bionic Woman this fall.

Explain to me, in some kind of intelligent way, why in the hell The Winner aired much less made it as far as it did? I saw two episodes of it and it was the weakest, dumbest, most annoying form of sitcom comedy I've ever seen. It was like a trail of endurance where the producers are curious to see how much I'll take before I change the channel. The War at Home too spent all it's undeserved time slinging tired zinger after tired zinger. Remember Newlyweds? I'm glad they're dead. GOOD. Seriously, what the fuck are you doing Fox? Just go back to showing two episodes of The Simpsons, at least they know how to make me laugh.
