Isn't O'Loughlin the guy who plays the new strike team leader on the Shield? From a CRASH officer to a vampire detective in less than a year. Well...at least you got range, dude.

"Viva :aughlin", not 'Laughlin' and "The Big Bang Theory", not 'Big Bang'. It's okay to nickname or shorthand a title, but not so much while you're actually announcing it for the first time. It's like those magazines that obscure the logo on the first issue.

How is this messing up Blackpool?
by Plum

Americanization doesn't automatically spell disaster. Okay, most of the time it does, but The Office worked out okay. Anyway, if you liked Blackpool I think it's worth witholding judgment on Laughlin until we at least see clips or something. All we have right now is a few bits of promo monkey description. Bravo to CBS for being ballsy enough to risk a musical TV show- if it fails, at least it'll fail with ambition instead of from complete creative bankruptcy and laziness.
They better bring back Jericho

I'm going to be infuriated if they don't bring back Jericho and replace it with one of the 4 hourlongs they picked up--each one sounds infinitely worse, and that's saying something with how corny Jericho seems.

Wow, CBS isn't even trying to breath new life into the vampire franchise. A vampire detective? wow, I wonder if he has a ragtag band of demons, vampire hunters and swishy British eggheads helping him?

At least FOX back in the tried to do a series around werewolves, it sucked, but at least they tried something new.

Zombies, Zombies, Zombies! You really have to wonder why TV executives won't do a series based around world filled with zombies. The first network to final get the balls to do a zombie show will have a hit on their hands. Especially one like The Walking Dead, a serious show, not some campy/comedic crap.

CBS actually did something right with that. Who else would rather watch that than fucking Jimmy Kimmel?? (yes I know Kimmel is ABC, I'm making a point) Also, USA killed Forever Knight (literally and figuratively) in that 3rd season. It makes Angel's season with all the Jasmine bullshit seem fucking Emmy worthy.

Ever heard of Men Behaving Badly? Coupling? Brit-sit haven't traveled well here since the days of All in the Family and Three's Company, and Sanford and Son. With these turbulent times and alternative lifestyles challenging the status quo maybe there's some material that can be mined from it. I can't wait to hear "Nappy-headed ho" on primetime, BET excluded! LOL!

I love how TV executives give up on a show immediately. Under this logic, Seinfeld and Cheers wouldn't have been on the air past their first season either.

None of the shows that have been announced from the networks sound remotely interesting. Are they just trying to lose money? Are they just giving up?

The fall will once again record breaking low ratings for the networks.

anything like you think, it is a dead return to life show in which one day the dead are back just like before they were dead with the same memories and personalities etc. No shuffling around asking for brains, more angst that their ex-wife has shacked up with the dentist when they have only been dead 3 months...
CBS shot themselves in the foot with Jericho

How does Jericho go from one of the season's rookie hits in November and December to cancelled in May? Simple, they mismanaged the show. They decided to not air any repeats in October, December, or January and opted to take it off the air for two months in winter instead. When it came back, the rating were abismal eventhough the quality of the show arguably got better. I swear programmers don't have a clue. Extended breaks are reserved between seasons, not midway through the season. This hurt Lost too. It may have sunk Veronica Mars. Either suck it up with a few weeks here and there of reruns or do the 24 approach and do a straight run where the season starts late or ends early. CBS had pretty much Wednesdays locked up. Now they gotta hope another show can be a strong lead for Criminal Minds. Yes, American Idol would have hurt Jericho's ratings no matter what, but probably not nearly as much with it's extended hiatus.
Jericho is cancelled

Its done. I figured CBS couldn't handle a series with story arcs. I would have understood if it had bad ratings from the beginning but it didn't...they put the series on a long hiatus and expected it to compete with American Idol when it returned! Both Lost and Heroes shed viewers during their hiatus, but CBS can't handle setbacks- not the network for serialized dramas, stand-alone episodes only. I shudder to think what would have happened if Lost, Heroes or the excellent Friday Night Lights were on CBS. Its too late but they should have put Jericho on Friday after Ghost Whisperer.
and Jericho is considered Sci-Fi

Les Moonves doesn't like Sci-Fi, if its not a CSI or a derivative like NCIS, Criminal Minds, Numbers, etc., a ratings dip will spell its doom. I have no doubt Moonves was looking for any excuse to shitcan Jericho. I'm hoping NBC or FOX will pick it up as a mid season replacement.

If FX would pick up Jericho and pile on the cussing and violence (and more hot midwestern black women), it would be worth a 12-episode season. CBS, I hope your news, sports and entertainment divisions rot in the ratings basement.

The real reason CBS may not air the zombie thing is that they don't want to give their core audience (old people) hope that they will be able to return from the grave and continue to complain about the kids today and the fact that the world is going to hell. Don't get me wrong: The world is going to hell and the kids do indeed suck (little dumbasses), but putting that false hope into the oldies' incredibly shrinking brains is a little cruel. So Shaka, what do we do about all of this atrocious TV, you ask? Watch DVDs, read books, go out and play. Do I have to think of everything?
