Ok, so the Die Hard Trilogy has a good run of some of the most badass villians in movie history (except the guy in the second one, he was kind of a tool). How does the villian in this one add up?
Bruce Willis...Da Man, or, DA MAN?!
by Rogue Planet
May 9th, 2007
06:56:09 PM
I'm leaning towards, DA MAN!!! Loved the first Die Hard films (the first one is, in both my own humble opinion and the opinion of many on these boards, the very best in American action films. It's the gold standard of blowin' stuff up in style. Loving it. Got it on DVD, and it was the first disc I bought when I got my very first DVD player. You bring real heart to the character of John McClane, and I hope he hasn't hardened too much by this film. It was McClane's sense of humor that made him a real standard amongst the Stallone and Ah-nold characters in action cinema at the time. He's a good guy, we like to see him win. Oh, yes, the question: how do you keep John McClane fresh and interesting in this film? Obviously, he's an old favorite, and folks have gotten pretty used to him...what did you do to keep him new? Seal him in plastic? Add Oregano? Lighten him up? Harden him down? All that. Also, when are you going to do more comedy, man? Any plans for the return of Bruno? Take care, be well, pet the kitty. - T
DIE HARD 2

Die Hard 1 is basically considered on of the best in not the best action film ever made. i think 2/3 of Die hard 3 are very good as well. Can't stand Die hard 2, though it was the standard action crap. That being said, Why is John Mctiernen not directing Die hard 4? did Roller Ball rip out his movie making soul?

by ABking
May 9th, 2007
06:57:35 PM
Mr. Willis, you kick all sorts of ass and I can't wait for DIE HARD 4.0 even if I hate the new PG-13 rating! Anyway, me question(s)to you are a)will you team with Stallone to do TARANTINO'S Inglorious Bastards... b) do you think Arnold will come back to films once his second term is up? True Lies 2 could be his Die Hard like franchise...and c)are all three of you (Sly and Arnold) partners in that new PLANET HOLLYWOOD CASINO?

I realize these Talkbacks are going to be generally about LFODH, but my respect level for Willis will blow through the roof if he's willing to address an entire series of questions on MOONLIGHTING or THE RETURN OF BRUNO.

Specifically - and, I might add, selfishly - I'd like to know just what inspired the dance moves from the music videos from the latter.

If he's even half as self-deprecating and forthright as Stallone this is going to be a ball.

there were some very strongly worded posts aimed at BW for a while before he took it upon himself to link up and video chat with someone. and WalterB, do you really think the rating will stay where it's at, or that the studio might get all nice out of nowhere and give it the R that everyone wants (blood, kicks to the head, lacerations and filthy wife-beaters)?

You're Bruce Willis. You've proven yourself as a highly popular and bankable star in both popcorn fare and more dramatic films. In the process you must have made about enough money to put roughly all of L.A. county through college and grad school. The point being, financially and creatively, you've earned the right to do only the films you really want to. So why do yet another Die Hard? More to the point, why do yet another Die Hard without John McTiernan? A fourth film following a successful trilogy is always a dicey proposition, but adding in a mostly untested director (only responsible, so far, for a couple of poorly received genre flicks) seems like asking for trouble. If it was just for the money, then I'm sure you'll find a diplomatic way of saying so, but if there was another strong reason for making this film happen I'd be interested to hear it.

The first Die Hard movie was one of the best movie-going experiences of my life. Easily in the top three.

The second Die Hard? Not so much. It suffered from the dreaded sequel-itis so many other films succumb to.

The third Die Hard was a lot of damn fun. Not perfect, but still a enough great action, characterization, dialogue and attitude to keep it in the same echelon as the first.

The stuff I have heard regarding this fourth installment has me very skittish.

There are hundreds of action movies that have come along since Die Hard. But few have even come close to approaching its perfect combination of character, setting, story and feel.

Please reassure me that Live Free, Die Hard is going to be up to the Die Hard standard. I want you to have a huge hit on your hands so that you can return to your rightful place of Badass American Action Star. You deserve it!

What's going on Bruce? That's too cool that you actually get on the computer and chat with the rest of us instead of making a Geffrey-type butler do it...Anyway, looking forward to the next installment of Die Hard...Me and my boy used to watch all three religiously, nothing like seeing Mr. Big Bad John McClaine fuck some baddies up while cracking jokes about em' at the same time...Anyway. congrads on still being recognizable in today's action movie world, many of your piers failed to make the leap....let us knwo the things that you hate that talkbackers and normal audiences percieve about you Hollywood types (Joking), some of the things that make you think "if only these fucks knew what I have to go through on a day-to-day"....I know you got tons of those.....Is McClaine your favorite character? Or is it someone we might never have guessed? I graduated from college with a actor's minor, hoping to make the leap to the profession...what was your road like? Also, props for producing that film with Queen Latifah about Hip Hop, it shows that people can actually determine that there is good and bad within the genre (will we get to see you spit a couple bars in it too?) Hope I haven't asked too much, but it was cool to get the chance to rap' with you for a minute. Be cool.....

Hola. I remember reading an interview you did in some magazine about how, if you wanted to, you could just sit and skip stones for the rest of your life. Do you ever just feel like saying "Screw this, I don't need to do this anymore"? Csse in point-if Live Free or Die Hard gets the pussy goat-13 it will be like one helluva kick to the scrote for Die Hard fans. Die Hard was one of the most important "movies I wasn't supposed to watch" as a child (partly for its restricted rating) and now the rumor (that bastard child or truth) is going around about the kiddy friendly rating for the fourth Die Hard film. Does all this tip-toeing about the MPAA make you want to just go get a big bag of rocks and find a nice quiet pond to let loose upon? I mean how do you put up with all of this studio bullshit?

Mr. Willis, I know there will be a thousand messages on this page by the time you read it, but I wanted to talk about this: I have been a HUGE fan of the Die Hard movies for a while and I love old-school action heroes like yourself. I wrote a script and got my friends together and made a movie called "Hard Dying" It was based off of a quote I read from you saying that people were pitching you movie ideas saying "It's like Die Hard in a..." I came up with the most obscure possible place, a playground. Im shaking right now just thinking you might possibly even read this post(I know, what a dork). Of course I played McClane Anyway, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =TkMBLL2zPpg My take on "Yippe-Ki-Yay Mother Fucker" "Yippe-Skippey-Jerk Face" I cannot wait for LFODH! Are there any smarmy, hoighty-toighty Hollywood types you'd like to wail on with that oh so meaningful trophy? I'd nominate that dick from New Line who won't let Peter Jackson make The Hobbit. Die Hard 4. We've all seen the trailer. In fact whenever it comes on my friends and I scream "FUCK EM UP BRUCE! FUCK EM UP!" Right in the theater, usually a theater full of pussies, but regardless, the trailer is a digitally projected boner for anyone who enjoys movies that kick ass. But how much ass can it kick if it's PG-13? PG-13? I can't deal with it.You can not let them Pussify this movie. Look at 300, it's rated R, and it made tons of money for the studios. Is Fox missing a screw? Rated R Die HArd is a no brainer. It's like a rated G James Bond. You've got Yippie Ki Ay's to Motherfuck! Don't let them do it!

Does PG-13 = no hanging Carl
by Lemo
May 9th, 2007
07:28:51 PM
I love the first Die Hard for what it was. Regular guy gets his ass kicked hard while saving the world. It is the first time I remember seeing a movie the hero doesn't just rise up and pick everyone off while remaining unscathed. I appreciate that "realism". But..... here's my beef. Aside from "yippee ki yay mother fucker" would the MPAA allow the classic scene walking across the broken glass or Carl hanging from the stairwell in a PG-13 flick? I'm not asking for Planet Terror, but I loved the grittiness of the first Die Hard. And if I was jumping out of a windo holding onto a firehouse, I would likely yell "fuck" as well (and also piss myself).

in film school and insist that there were no good films made before 1988 because Die Hard set the bar so high. I would just sit and watch these film nerds stew at the audacity of my comment. Of course I like movies before then, but it was worth it to watch their efforts to shout out the most mainstream classic pics "The Godfather! Citizen Kane! I know you love Star Wars!" Personally, it's one of my favorite films and I've seen it a bunch of times. Are you a fan of this, your own film? Even Chris Tucker's part? I ask because I don't know too many other people who love it, and you've been forthcoming with opinions on your other films. Also......... (1) Are you in favor of a sequel to UNBREAKABLE, or doesn't it need one? (2) What do you think of M. Night's recent "Lady in the Water" debacle? Are you pals with him? (3) And lastly, I asked this in the last talkback but I think it got lost in the mix... what was it like guesting on Friends?

Been a fan since 'Moonlighting'. I pretty much grew up watching you. 12 Monkeys was amazing and the most realistic depiction of man's exposure to a 'what if' situation. Die Hard is Me and My Dad's fav. action film. We rented the movie consistently for weeks on VHS when it first came out. Your performance in Pulp Fiction was outstanding and finally Die hard 3 is criminally underrated. I dig that movie in a big big way. Thanks for almost 2 decades of solid entertainment. Keep it up. McClane's new nemesis a match?

Hey Mr Willis, it's a great honor to have you on AICN. I never imagined I'd have the occasion to address Bruce Willis directly, and the feeling is just so freaking awesome! About the flick, people seem to forget that the bad guys are equally important in a Die Hard movie. I was wondering how it was to work with Timothy Olyphant and what you think of his work on the film? Was his character more than a match for McClane?

Bruce, I just wanted to let you know that one of my favorite films is IN COUNTRY, which seems to often be overlooked in examinations your filmography. I'm curious if you have any meaningful recollections of that film, either during the filming or as a result of audience/critic reaction. Do you see it as a quality film? What was your experience with Norman Jewison? Joan Allen? Did Bobbie Ann Mason have much input on the script? A lot of questions, I know, but any answers would be much appreciated. Also, on a semi-related tangent, my stepdad ran the Ruby Tuesday's restaurant in Paducah, Kentucky while you were filming, and I very clearly remember eating dinner at a table next to you one night when I was twelve, though my stepdad was careful to remind us he didn't want us gawking at a paying customer. :) Still, and nice memory to share. I really can't wait to see John McClane in action one more time. I just hope you keep your shoes on this time around. Thanks for doing the talkback!

I went in to 'Unbreakable' a comic geek, not knowing the movie would be so comic book-oriented. The surprise alone was great. Not only was the genre of comic book mythology respected, but you and Sam Jackson took iconic character types and presented them honestly. You kept it grounded. It was a quiet performance (no explosions, car chases, yippie kye yeas) but also (in my opinion) one of your best. Right up there with Pulp Fiction and 12 Monkeys. I heard a rumor that Unbreakable was the first of a trilogy. All 3 Die Hards have been great, so I expect no less of the 4th one, and you've proven you can carry a franchise. Just curious if Unbreakable will follow suit, or if that was a one-shot. I kept waiting for your action figure to show up in stores, but no luck. I do have the Alex Ross piece he did of your character in monochromatic green. Too cool. Oh, and don't let them give you any shit about the bald head. I shave mine, too. Bald is sexy, brother.

Bruce, Just to let you know, I have always rated Die Hard as my greatest movie experience of all time. I was about eleven when my Dad took me to watch it, and I have never been as blown away by a movie as Die Hard did. With that said, I do have a question for you: What has made John great as a character is his unbelievable nearness to the "modern guy". Just a normal guy, put into some serious situations. Only his will to live, but not just that I think, also not lose, that gets him through. The trailer for LF or DH looks great, but it also looks as if John has lost some of his "normal guy" shit. One of the enduring things about all of the DIE HARD movies is that John just barely looks like he knows what he's doing. That he is just barely hanging on and able to move through the story. Is this "theme" carried on through DH4. I hope so. Also....the last talk back tread was some of the funniest shit I have read in some time.

I think you are an inspiration for men everywhere. My question for you is this: What are your post-Die Hard 4 plans? What projects do you have in the works? And lastly, as a hardcore Die Hard fan, I personally can't wait to see John McClain save the country, but am skeptical of a PG-13 rating.. Are you happy with the film?

Bruce, As someone who saw DH in the movies, on a warm Philadelphia July nite in 1988, I thought , I am gonna hate this movie. I thought you were going to suck. You proved me wrong, thanks.I was blown through the back of the theater, big time. I went back that summer multiple times to see DH, even in the Fall re-release. I even bought the VHS for $80 from the video store I worked at( NOT EVEN WIDESCREEN Ack!)I was a Bruce Willis fan since then and I haven't looked back. Thanks for the unsual (pulp fiction, sin city) roles, the mainstream ones(16 blocks was really underrated) and even for the stinkers (striking distince) One thing you can always count on, is you will always be good in the films. I am awaiting this new incarnation of DH, and admitedly, now I am almost 40, and I am nervous. Mostly over Len Wiseman. I hated Underworld. I have yet to watch the sequel. I will give this DH movei a chance tho and jusdge it on its own merits. I am looking forward to seeing it, regardless of how many "fucks" are in the movie. I dont care about ratings. A good movie is a good movie regardless of rating. Anyhow, my main question: Why can't John MafuckinClane fight muslim terrorists? This is the kind of battle I would like to see him involved in. That would bring it into the 21st-post 9/11- century. Granted a cyber hacker is kinda hip and cool, but I really wish Hollywood would make films that wouldnt be afraid to address this modern issue. Was it ever considered? I know the potential backlash PR wise, but what are your thoughts on MaFuckinClane fighting some terror cell/dynamite vest wearing muslim in a U.S. city? The Euros/Germans were shown as villians in the first and 3rd. Why cant we have a crackpot villain from the mideast? I think Hollywood is afraid , particularly since True Lies got so much shit for doing it. But why cant we call it what it is? This is a modern problem. Not to get all political, I just find it interesting that action films seem to be afraid of "going there" Your comments appreciated. Thanks, see you on 7/4!

...was said in both Last Boy Scout and Hudson Hawk. Was that your own ad-libbed thing? I ask because it seems weird that that could be written for two separate roles. Loved both those movies--are there any talks for a better edition of Boy Scout on DVD? Now would be a good time. I read somewhere that you mentioned that it would take a lot of courage for Fox to make an R-rated Die Hard these days. Why doesn't the studio have that courage...and why is it important that we, film fans and Die Hard lovers go see this installment? One last question: Does the film explain what happened between Vengeance and 4.0 to explain why McClane, once down-and-out, is in such good shape now? One of the best trademarks of the series for fans is seeing John overcoming all odds with his street smarts. Thanks for your time.

this didn't post in the last talkback with Bruce, but I did get a chance to talk with the man on iChat for 5-10 minutes and he's pretty passionate about the film he's made. For the most part I listened and nodded my head while he described some pretty cool stuff. He said they almost lost a couple guys on set and that his stunt man was one of them. I'll definitely go see LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD opening day - it'll be like paying a dollar for each minute of one of the most surreal conversations I've ever had. I mean, Bruce Willis' head was floating on my desktop. I'm not one to be starstruck, but Mr. Willis is one of probably 4-5 people that apparently makes me an idiot.

As for the movie, he really REALLY looked and sounded sincere about it and I believe him (I interview witnesses). My favorite part was asking about how Justin "I'm a Mac" Long's role compared to the part they had Samuel L. Jackson play in the last venture. (The part that worried me the most). He said having Justin there was like having one of US there - a John McClane fan in awe of the man and his sheer je ne sais quoi.

As to THE BRUCE, he was REALLY down to Earth. He even asked about my hometown and talked about odd draft decisions my home football team made recently. I'm still reeling from having the honor of speaking to the man. AND I ashamed that I couldn't resist the urge to sign off by saying "Yippee Kiyay Bruce" and he laughed and said "Yippee kiyay, Motherfucker." JOHN MCCLANE CALLED ME A MOTHERFUCKER! Watching DIE HARD films just got a lot more special.

I realize there's a good chance this will just be lost along in the shuffle now that this entire thing has exploded, but damn if I'm not going to type it up anyway. I'll keep the gushing to a minimum as there is clearly plenty to go around, but just to get it out of the way I've always been a big fan of yours, and I doubt that will ever stop. But I was hoping to ask you a question, that you, as both a parent(which I read off the other talkbacks, don't worry I'm not some crazy stalker) and someone inside of Hollywood, might have some advice for.

I'm about to graduate from highschool, and, like many, am looking to hopefully one day go into some aspect of the filmmaking buisiness. My grades in highschool were never that great, and while I've gotten into a few colleges I wouldn't really be getting any help to pay for them. Going would mean a lot of debt down the line for me. Again, as a parent(for believe me my mother is a crazy one so here I am asking a moviestar for advice), do you think passing by on college and attempting to go right into the work world- especially that of the film industry- is at all a sound idea? I think I already know your answer, but all the same- I'd love to hear back from you.

PS, on more of a normal fanboy type question, any dream projects you hope to do sometime?

Okay Bruce, if you look at the previous talkback, I made one of the first posts where I essentially told you and your defense of film to go fuck itself. After reading some of your posts, I have indeed calmed down. The fact that you're actually responding directly to us rather than a bunch of filtered questions speaks highly, so I no longer think you're full of shit. Hell, I actually was excited when I heard Timothy Olyphant was the villain. He completely rocked on Deadwood. So I've now decided to give the movie a shot and I'm willing to acknowledge that it is possible to make an intense balls-to-the-wall action movie that is PG-13. I just hope the film makes great use of its single alloted "fuck". And if the movie ends up sucking, I hope you stick around to take our shit.

Mr Willis! Personally I have a lot of faith in Die Hard 4.0 (as it's called here in the UK). Underworld 2 had some really very good action set-pieces, so that combined with the fact that I love all the other DH films means I'm in all the way. Now that's out in the open -- what do you reckon on the classic "Harrison Ford is too old to play Indy" debate? You up for another in that franchise? By the way, I loved 12 Monkeys -- any plans to work with Gilliam again? Finally -- ever catch reruns of That 70s Show, see Ashton, and just wanna punch his fucking lights out? Obviously it isn't as good as the first -- how could it be? -- but I definitely would not call it a bad movie. The "Simon Says" scenes, before we see Irons, is brilliant. It's the grandfather of 24 (back when it was good). Samuel L and Jeremy Irons were excellent, and your hung over McClane was fantastic. I spent the Halloween following DH3 dressed up as McClane from that film. I was fucking freezing but I loved it. Three questions: ----1. Did you think it was awesome when Ice-T hailed you in the classic song, New Jack Hustler -- "bulletproof, I die harder than Bruce Willis" -- I thought it kicked ass. ------ 2. "The Parthanon, Greek family restaurant...It's wet and it's dry, my my my my!" is an unheralded turn of lyrical genius on Saturday Night Live. Fine work, sir. --------3. Whenever the bloated sell-out, Knowles let's us talk to famous people, they insult me (Kev Smith called me a fag, Stallone said I engage in necrophilia, so forth and so on) if you could disparage me in some way, I'd really appreciate it because I want to keep my streak alive. ----- See you in Hell.
Die Hard with Bruce

Let me tell you why I will see your movie a) like I would've missed it to begin with, it's Die Hard the very basis for modern action that means it's hardcore action that we know for sure and if I can give any praise to Len Wiseman is that he can direct action b) you've really put yourself out there and went on the record with the most rabbid fans in the world c) you called out Michael Bay if Die Hard 4 and Transformers were up against each other on the 4th I would've picked Die Hard based simply on you calling him out, so you've got my ticket and i expect to be floored. Now for my question. I see Jeffery Wright has been cast in the film and I think that Mr. Wright is one of America's greatest unheralded actors, so Bruce how was it working with Jeffery, and since its such a popular question how was it working with Timothy Olyphant, we know he can be a badass as witnessed on Deadwood. Thanks for joining the talkbacks and I hope you respond to my question!

Hi Bruce, love all the Die Hards (Yes, even Die Harder), but actually had a question about an earlier flick. How did Fifth Element get pitched to you? That must've been a trip to try to understand considering it was all CGI, and an original sci-fi story is hard to find any more. Was there ever any word on another one? I know it made it's budget back, and there were rumblings right afterward of a "Mr. Shadow" movie. Anyway, thanks for doing this, even if you don't see my questions. Hudson Hawk forever!

Loved your work in Die Hard, 12 Monkeys, and yes, Hudson Hawk, but your performance in Unbreakable is still, to me, one of your best. I had heard that M Night originally had planned on that to be the first part of a proposed trilogy. I'm assuming this is by now, a no-go, but were you ever interested in this? And if so, what elements would the trilogy have eventually dealt with, in terms of general plot and your character? Not much of an M Night fan, but that movie was fuckin incredible. I've only ever seen him in The Girl Next Door, but even with a role in such a shitty film, he exudes such charisma and comes across as a completely believeabloe bastard that I always figured he'd end up as the villain in a kick-ass action flick. Without having seen him in a Die Hard movie, I'll take a guess that he's going to be damn good, but nowhere near as great as the legendary Alan Rickman. This brings me to my question, Bruce: Of the 3 Die Hard bad guys so far, which has been your favourite, and why?
For Walter B. (the man himself)...
by Flynn Diesel
May 9th, 2007
08:41:52 PM
The first movie and Die Hard 2 were made at the end of the Reagan era and the beginning of the Bush Sr. era, where John McClane's persona was more or less as defined an action hero as a Rambo or Schwarzenegger, a man whose heroism was, as you said it, at "the wrong man at the wrong place at the wrong time" and trying to keep the peace. Die Hard with a Vengeance more or less retained that, but what I want to know is this: since 1995 (when Die Hard with a Vengeance was released), a lot has happened in the real world of terrorism on a global scale--the Unabomber, Columbine, 9/11, suicide bombers in Israel--and that does not even cover other situations such as the conflict in Iraq. Have the events of this past decade made you play John McClane as a different person, or have you simply accustomed the character to coexist in the current times?

Hey Bruce, first...thanks for participating in the talkbacks here. It's pretty cool that you are willing to speak openly about your films, even the ugly ones. My question is this...any chance for a special screening of Live Free or Die Hard here in Austin? I couldnt imagine a better night than seeing DH4 in downtown ATX with you in attendance, then heading down to Antone's to see the Accelerators play an aftershow (a la the Sin City premiere awhile back). I saw you guys play there many years ago and had a blast. You and the band are definitely talented musicians, and i love the harmonica and guitar duels, especially between you and the Krispy Kreme guy. Thanks again, cant wait to see the flick!

Wow... so I just got out of an 8-hour lecture about Editing and finally got caught up on all this woo-ha. This is all very exciting and intense. Now Walter B, I have no worries about your fourth installment in the series, my dad (who also bears a striking resemblance) introduced me to the series as a young lad and thought that each film was (at the very least) an entertaining thrill ride. I was trying to think of some questions to ask about DH4, but I want the element of surprise there. I want to go into the theater and be blown away. So now I'm sitting here trying to think of something intelligent and thought provoking to ask but I'm drawing a blank. So I'll ask a bland and uninteresting question. I'm a film student close to graduating; do you have any words of wisdom?

Do you ever feel like pulling a MaClane on them, or is it a case of ignoring them? Have any ever gone way too far and received a come-uppance from you? Does it ever feel too much and you wish you could sink back into the anonymity of your pre-acting days?

Firstly, let me just say that I think you're awesome for doing this. It's great that you're taking time out to answer questions for fans. My only question, since so many good ones have already been asked, is: How important do you feel cameos are to an actor's career? In recent years, we've seen you do cameos in Ocean's 12 and Grindhouse, so you seem to do them on a somewhat regular basis now. Are they a good way of keeping your name out there when you don't have a starring vehicle coming out? Thanks, Bruce!

Did I mention I fucking LOVED Hudson Hawk. Why the hate? And I thought the only questions off limit to Bruce were in regards to his family/personal life. Past films could be discussed. And yeah, Olyphant is a great choice for bad guy, he can act his ass off and be just as much a bad ass as Bruce (ie Deadwood) which should make for an interesting confrontation in DH4.

I didn't come to kiss up like the others unfortunately. Amazing how many AICN nerds are gonna change their tune now they know it's you on the TBs. I don't care dude, you are just another person to me like everyone else here, and that's how I'll talk 2 you. Like most others on this board ( including the star-struck, groveling bunch ), I don't care for a "safe" version of a Die Hard movie. Maybe you don't have much say in this studio decision, maybe you do...whatever. You must be able to understand however, why people wouldn't appreciate this absurd change to the Die Hard franchise. Die Hard is like the last "true" adult 'R' rated action franchise. It is considered a pioneer in the action genre ( but you know this already ). I was looking forward to this movie this summer in the glout of PG-13 fare marketed to the teen/preteen crowd. Just imagine;; In a summer atmosphere litteraly saturated with with childish, PG, cowshit, We had this one, lone R-rated bad-boy to look forward too. But No...Instead of honouring the fan base that made this franchise a success in the first place, Fox has seen fit to snub those that waited for the sequel for a decade long with this move which amounts to nothing more than "censoring" just so you could draw a teen crowd that have no vested intrest in this franchise whatsoever. Another blasted PG-13 movie.....I'm disappointed, dismayed, and quite frankly, disgusted with the whole scenario. Fox may make some money with this censored movie, but not nearly as much as if it was an 'R' like the others. I believe you know that too. I believe your hands are tied in this matter. That's a shame and I'm truly sorry. I know what you're doing here on AICN is nothing more than a little PR save-face, but you are not going to be able to sell that "hardcore" shit to everyone. We both know what PG-13 entails, I won't be a star-struck, nerd ass and pretend like I don't know..... You are now portraying a T.V. version of John McClane. While the movie will have it's action of course, it will all be "inoffensive" ( so to speak ). I like to call it "noise without impact". We WILL NOT see the bloody, gritty, violence that was pushed to the limit in the first three. That was what signified a Die Hard movie even more than John's foul mouth. It's all gone now though; The gritty, no-holds-bared violence, the realisticly and justifiably bad-mouthed characters. It's all either completely gone or so glossed over now we'd never know or notice if any of it is even there at all. That's what PG-13 is Bruce. There's no "hardcore" in a fucking PG-13 movie. If there was, it would be rated acordingly (i.e. 'R' ). My beef is not really with you though Bruce. You gotta make a living right ?? Which is like what for this movie ?? 20mil at least. Hell!! I'd do a PG Die Hard myself for that kinda dough lol. No. My beef is with the suits over at Fox that keep turning these adult franchises into PG-13 farce. They have no love or respect for quality cinema, just profit and nothing else ( something they won't even see that much of from this censored DH film ). Someone should've had the good sense to tell the nip-tuck Fox suits that real profit from a Die Hard movie would come from it's long-time fanbase that expected nothing short of an R. I thought you would have told them that Bruce. Naive of me, guess I don't really know how that shit works. Oh Well. All I can tell you is that I do not now, or will not ever support this epic disaster of a bad business decision on Fox's part. I will not watch this chickenshit 'Live Free Or Die Hard' in theaters, nor will I shell out my humble earnings to rent/buy the preposterous and disingenuous sales gimmick that is the "unrated" or "Directors" cut. That's my two cents on the whole affair, and you'd be surprised how many disgruntled fans share my POV Bruce. You could reply if you like ( or not ). I wasn't really looking for much by way of a conversation ( not to be rude by any means )....I really just wanted to speak my mind. Good luck with your future endeavours Mr Willis..... I'll keep an eye out for that movie you're doing with Sam Jackson. you two have a killer on-screen vibe that should not be taken for granted ( I just hope it's R-rated for fucks sake ).

hey Mr. Willis .. must say first that i'm a HUGE fan of everything you've done. .. but when i first saw the trailer for DH4 i was amazed, excited, everything. then when i heard the news that this film is being made into a PG-13, i lost nearly all my excitement for the film, and that i just got ass raped by the people who decided to make this PG-13. .. i know u probably sick of hearing ppl complain about this being PG-13, and i've read what u said that this is a hard action movie and has a lot of violence and everything. but to me, the "fucks" and hard violence were a big part of the films. and i'm sry but if u jump off a jet onto a messed up highway and slide down it and escape the crashing jet behind u (btw very cool scene : ) .. and u don't scream "fuck!!!" .. theres issues.. idk .. to me it seems more real-life w/ the language .. especially if ur in a terrorist/ hostage situation. just my thoughts ... still looking forward to it ... hope i get a reply : )

with his fanbase. Excuse me if I don't care. Seriously is there a SINGLE BETTER WAY to prove you are not an A-Lister (not even a B lister) than by posting on a pissy AICN talkback? I mean this place is worse than IMDb and IMDb is shite. A few years ago I may have been glad, you know I may have even thought it was cool. But between a string of crappy movies, and worse yet, a string of politically embarrasing statements, and now this watered down PG13 crap when most of the real action is done by a standin-stantman (heck he is even brough it for regular setup) well excuse me that I don't care. And seeing the attention deficient fanwhore isn't too exciting either. Meh I say. For the record, I hope I am proven wrong and the movie does rock (unlikely) but it's hardly be due to Bruce. Night Shyamalan? I thought his best films were with you. Of course, the classic "The Sixth Sense," and then my choice for one of the most underrated flix ever, "Unbreakable." (And probably my favorite B.Willis film!) Oh shit, I lied, one more question: "Last Man Standing!" Where would you rank that film with your collection? I for one always thought that was a great freaking movie, although I guess it didn't receive wide critical appeal. It was almost like watching a classic western, only 30 years after the fact. Model-Ts instead of horses. Anyways.... Don't let the internet dorks push you away, we appreciate your taking the time to answer these questions. You da man, can't wait to watch the 4th DH!

HOW MANY FUCKING FLYING FLAMING CARS CAN YOU HAVE IN A MOVIE TRAILER? you know what was so cool about the first die hard is it didn't attempt to be all big and epic and huge. it was a guy that happen to be in a building that got taken over...now the "WORLD" IS GETTING SHUT DOWN but computer guys..why even bother seeing it, i already know how its going to end, bad guy dead, world saved, good guy alive...give me movies like munich, and the departed. as far as action casino royale did it for me.

Hello Bruce my name is Levi,Iam the senior tour guide at the graumans chinese theatre, and one of the things we talk about on the tours are the handprints of course, and i want to ask you the same thing that i asked stallone on here back in Decemeber. A lot of the tourists ask about your square and i was just curious if there was any memories or recollections you have from that day, that you would want to pass along that i could share with the tourists who take the chinese theatre tour. ive seen you at a lot of the Premieres(where iam also the lobby announcer welcomeing everyone inside the theatre) and other events we host at the chinese and the mann villiage, bruin and festival theatres. But ive never gone up and said hello and ask about your handprints as i didnt want to interupt while you were talking to people in the lobby. I would very much appreciate anything you could tell me about that day. thanks for your time and i look forward to seeing you in Live free or Die Hard. Levi

I know Bruce has said him and Joel Silver aren't the best of buddies (which probably means Bruce's Joe Hallenbeck character won't be in any more films again), but I was always ticked off (as other AICN readers would agree) at The Last Boy Scout film still only being available in a bare bones DVD. If there's any chance a TLBS special edition DVD for HD-DVD or Blu Ray will eventuate with a director's cut, it'd be great if Bruce could participate in it and I know Tarantino (who's a big fan of TLBS) would also gladly appear in it.

Willis once said he'd do so many flicks with M. night. I think he has one left. As for moonlighting, it's got to be time to bury the hatchet (not literally.)

Bruce, on Bay's official site, he talks about Die Hard 4, and mentions that he loved working with you. Does he know you hated working with him? He makes mention that Die Hard moved from the July 4th release because of Transformers and says he's "been there done that" in regards to the Die Hard action.

Hey Bruce, how do you feel about opening a week before Bay's Transformers? You expressed your dislike for the man in the earlier Talkback. How do you feel your box office chances are? Is it something you're even concerned about? You're a great actor and please keep working!
