I wanted to like Fido more than
I did. by Novaman5000

It was a little too goofy for
me at times. More than that
it was really shallow- all of
the characters were parodies
of 1950's sitcom characters
with absolutely no real
depth... And then there is
that bizarre mother/zombie
romantic attraction thing...
Fido was one of my favourites

I loved just all the little
touches, the direction was
superb, and there was a
surprisingly good performance
by Billy Connelly as The
Zombie. I don't agree that the
characters were cardboard
cut-outs, and I did actually
respond the the mother/zombie
relationship with the son - it
kind of reminded me of the
dysfunctional family unit of
Terminator 2. Anyway,
definitely very messed up and
worth a look. So there's two
Canadian flicks, Fido and
Trailer Park Boys that should
probably deserve a wider U.S.
release.
