So I was in Boston for the first time this weekend, and I see all these people dressed up at some mall I was at, and then go on to find out it was this anime convention. I like anime and all, but I REALLY don't see the lure of dressing up as a character and walking around a public mall. Although 90% of the dressed up people were under 19...

And Witch Hunter Robin sucks!?!? I just bought the whole damn season! I figured it would be good cause Bebop was sweet. I'll have to look into this other one you mention.

I too was disappointed with teh series, pretty boring, but I guess it was trying to be like X-Files. However it does get interesting towards the final few episodes, however it's still not worth it. Paranoia Agent on the other hand was excellent!

You just gotta stop comparing everything to Bebop..Paranoia Agent is an ALMOST fair comparisson but the pacing and continuity from show to show makes it almost a different catagory.Anyway,S.A.C makes me a happy man!:)

They are vaguely comporable in that the concepts were from the same person. Robin has some nice style and some decent horror set pieces. As an anime that's for somewhat older audiences, it tends to offer something interesting to look at.

It's too bad they have to make all those edits. Violence and sexual themes aren't unusual at all for grade school level kids in Japan and while they have their own level of social problems over there I can't imagine any of them being related to viewing PG-13 or even R-rated level material. Such a shame we take such extremes over censorship over here. Re: Which Hunter Robin. I can see how it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea esp. considering what expectations might be for a title that might imply a heavy focus on action, but it's really not that bad. It's slower paced and definitely not for the Naruto crowd but if you liked Samurai Champloo then I think you'll enjoy it.

the first episode of witch hunter robin was enough to never think of it again. it was so ... boring. bebop had their stand-alone stories and the overall story and did an incredible job of painting the world out and its structure of society. very few things can do that in the span of one season.

It is probably because once you get past stuff like Pokemon which is marketed to kids, the anime that is most famous in this country could be Bebop due to its Adult Swim run.

Scott, Any information about the discussion on Macross DYRL would be great. Any chance you could post some of those highlights? Thanks in advance.

Honestly, Imagawa and Nishimura's panel was a goldmine. Iwata and Terada's panel was far more routine. Off hand, I can't think new out of it. There were a few interesting points made about their sentiments towards Robotech. They didn't completelt love the idea of sticking together unrelated works. Unrelated to the panel, Harmony Gold of Robotech fame has that they have the rights to DYRL, but can't release it due to the protracted legal battles over the movie in Japan.
