hope it succeeds conceptually where DODGEBALL failed

dodgeball failed by not constructing an alternate reality setting in which dodgeball was the most popular sport in the world. ZOOLANDER was so great because of how important they made male modeling appear in that particular society. it wasn't hidden away on THE OCHO. Making Dodgeball an obscure sport is where they messed up i feel. If BALLS OF FURY wants to succeed, then there had better be a setting in which Table Tennis is the most spectacular event in the universe. (Some of the IMDB picks of the ridiculous costuming give me hope)

C'mon, Hollywood...Show some frickin balls!! They are singlehandedly slitting their own desperate throats releasing this type of movies to the PG-13 crowd. The thinking is...release it theatrically to the widest possible audience...then have the "unrated" DVD release with all the shit they SHOULD have put in the theatrical version. Unfortunately....I'll skip this movie's release, as I did with Dodgeball, and rent this sucker later..."unrated"...but only if it gets good reviews theatrically. My point? I won't be spending my hard earned cashh on the lame PG-13 version...and I won't rent/buy the unrated version it's the crapfest I'm expecting. So...it's a LOSE/LOSE for Hollywood. These "unrated" DVD releases are going to hurt box office opens eventually....and this flick looks like a perfect example of that.

See.. I saw the trailer yesterday before the hilarious and brilliant "Hot Fuzz" and I caught myself laughing hard during this "Balls of Fury" trailer... then they said "From the people who brought you Reno911..." and i thought, ahh fuck this will be a stinker. I am a big not-fan of Reno911 and an even bigger hater of the even less funny "Halfway Home".
jfp2006, it was a joke, and I prefer "choad"
by Bronx Cheer
Apr 23rd, 2007
08:17:52 PM

It was so unnecessary for Harry to point out the "joke" of the poster that I felt it worth making a stupid little joke highlighting how stupid you'd have to be not to understand that this movie might employ a double entendre here and there.

What I found very disturbing was why Harold would dare to use the word "palpable" with regard to children. Does Harry know that the word refers to touching or handling? Is he slyly suggesting that he would like children to palpate his "balls of fury?"

Oh, jfp2006, that's a joke, too. So is this: A horse walks into a bar. The bartender looks over at him and says, "Hey, why the long face?"

Oh, and jfp2006, when I wrote the headline and included "I prefer 'choad'" that could be taken to mean that I prefer the spelling "choad" over "chode" or that I like the big hangy-down thing. It was sort of a joke as well.

I never said they were funny, but that's not my problem

Dodgeball was funny - it just was, and those that think otherwise are well...poo lickers...Talladega Nights was pretty bad and Blades of Glory did the job - just about...upcoming Semi-Pro will be another hit and miss type comedy...and I would imagine that Balls of Fury will be completely out there - a "WTF" type film which may surprise us all with its lunacy!! Or, it may just be ballsacks! I hope for the former! In my opinion, if we can have countless chick flicks, porn-horror flicks, bad teen movies, Lindsay no talent lohan flicks, we can certainly have sport comedies...Can't wait for one on cricket - Dead Men Playing, Dead Men Watching.

Everybody's entitled to their opinions, of course. But I was in the theater the other weekend and some guy a few rows behind me says something about Walken. The guy he's with says, "Oh, I hate that guy. He can't act."

Well, I nearly bitchslapped the young punk.

Say what you want about some of his "paycheck" roles (coughWaynesWorld2cough), but the guy's proven talent (Dead Zone, Deerhunter, Suicide Kings, Pulp Fiction. Hell, I'll even give him Bioloxi BluesHe WAS that drill insructor when I was a kid and hadn't seen Full Metal Jacket yet!) I was just stunned to hear it. Almost as much as when I saw a trailer for "Stomp the Yard" and some Dad behind me said to his kid "Oh snap!" right after the trailer ended.

Choad vs. Chode
by Banky the Hack
Apr 24th, 2007
02:56:00 PM
It's not just a spelling debate. Choad is the fleshy fun bridge, the "taint" as it twere. Chode is a penis that is wider than it is long. As in, "I've heard that guy's got a chode...he's hung like a can of tuna."

Choah vs. Chode vs Taint
by Bronx Cheer
Apr 24th, 2007
11:15:22 PM

By way of clarification...and this is just one man's opinion..."choad" is specifically a penis that's wider than it is long, which is terribly sad...the character in Vonnegut's "Breakfast of Champions" had a choad--his penis was shaped like a can of tuna. "Chode" can be both the tuna-can penis, or the perineum, also known as the taint, twernt, gooch, and other swell names.

Thus endeth the lesson.
