The only episode I didn't think was great was the 24 parody, and even that wasn't a bad episode. If the second half of this season is as good, this season will reach the levels of season 5 or 8. Almost every episode HAS been a parody of something though...

This season for me so far has been one of my favourites. I've laughed so hard at every episode. Cartmen and the butters photo was too good. The episode with the Lice was just amazing. South Park will be known as one of the greatest TV shows ever....in about 20 years.

Have the manager of City Wok, through a series of misunderstandings, barracade himself inside of South Park Elementary leading people to think...you get the idea. I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'...you know how they are with topical humor and turning around episodes for topical events at the last minute (IE Elian Gonzalez)...

That Butters quote has to be one of the best from this season so far. I think my current Season 10 favorite is the Easter episode, if only for Kyle's reaction when Jesus asks Kyle to kill him.

But you know way too many people would get offended by that in our overly PC world. Plus the way the media is blowing this out of proportion is making people think it's the next 9/11. I'm surprised Leno didn't take a week off because "comedy is inappropriate right now".

At least it got rid of Anna Nicole and Imus, which are two subjects SP should also tackle.

I was lukewarm on the 300 ep (perhaps because I missed seeing 300), but I've enjoyed the rest of them. And I don't think showing a little bit of respect for the dead would be classified as a case of 'PC rum amok'. I know they love to push the envelope as far as it'll go, but I'd say even they'd consider that too much. Maybe a couple months down the road, but not after 2 days.

This isn't anywhere near the caliber of 9/11, but the media is treating it like it is. I'm all for respect for the dead but the media is making this out to be a much bigger deal than it actually is. And everyone's buying it. Is it sad? Of course it is, but prepare to be bombarded for weeks or months to come so that the mass media can make their money. But if South Park made an episode about it, everyone would attack them for exploiting a tragedy.

It is too soon, and I'm not so sure there will ever be a reason to do an episode. SP generally pokes fun at media reaction and loons who take things too far. 31 college students were lined up and shot dead. Not a very funny scenario.

What's the deal with Parker & Stone making so few episodes every season? Is it really that difficult to make 22 episodes every year? It's not like there's a huge turnaround time on the episodes (each one only takes about a week to make, if I'm not mistaken). It's not like they're busy making anything else...

The first was making fun of bin Laden, and I don't even think it mentioned 9/11. The second was satire of the conspiracy theorists. And on the topic of a Virginia Tech episode, it will never happen and with good reason. One of South Park's major demographics is college students, for who the shooting really hit home. Also, Matt and Trey know where the line is, and that would be way over it.

No, you're right, it isn't. But it doesn't mean its any less tragic. 32 people (mostly kids) were massacred for absolutely no reason. Believe it or not its A BIG DEAL (to say the least). In my opinion the amount of media coverage its been given is appropriate.

...that, apparently, in order for something to be considered a tragedy worthy of anything but dismissal or ridicule in the post 9-11 world, it must involve a higher body count.

The last six and a half years have really fucked a lot of people up on a fundamental level, it seems.

I can't imagine how Trey or Matt would find anything about the shooting itself funny. The completely whacked out pre-emptive responses to it, though? Yeah, I guess those are funny in a what-the-fuck-is-the-matter-wi th-you-people kind of way.

I get the feeling the hardcore positive responses here are more due to the fact that so many people have given up on this show. The people that haven't given up seem to all want an episode based on a specific thing, rather than episodes that are funny and well written. The last few years, every South Park feels like it is a homework assignment that was started at the last possible second. I guess when you make it into syndication, any extra episodes you can make have pretty much made tons of money before they even air, so I can't totally blame them.

this Season has been half assed at best... episodes 1 was awesome, 2 pretty good... from there out it was junk. last weeks really showed how they are making the episodes on the fly instead of working on it with the trendy 300 references. i suppose tonight will be the same only referring to Grindhouse. thumbs down! kill South Park already and make way for something fresh.

First and foremost because I love zombie movies, and they had some great references without being to specific, and just broadly satirizing the genre. UNLIKE the 300 episode, which had some funny moments but was FAR to specific in references. You really had to see 300 to laugh at the les bos episode. I laughed my ass off when the guy on the roof turned into "one of them" and they had to blow his head off. And also, when the scientist tried to shoot himself in the head.

City Wok Manager locks himself in South Park Elementary, and is mistakenly thought to be a shooter. Rosie O'Donnell comes to town, demands all guns be collected, and they are. Criminals hijack the truck carrying guns out of South Park, and run wild through the town. Kids have to go to Don Imus's "Nappy Headed Ho Cancer Ranch", as he has the only stash of weapons left in the state...and we learn that gun laws only effect and hurt law abiding citizens, not the criminals who are going to buy guns and commit crimes wether no one has guns or everyone has guns, because even if you ban all guns in this country, you're going to have gun related violence the same as we do now. was so specific in their parodies. They spoofed situations and styles, like anime, the Simpsons or computer graphics, but this is, unless I'm wrong, the first time they've centered entire episodes on parodies like "300" and "Day/Dawn Of The Dead" Or the "Thing" scene that Stan even called out in the lice episode. Are they pandering to the fanboys that love/loved those flicks for easy laughs? Granted I loved the slo-mo in "Les Bos", and last nights was funny from start to finish.

...because the previous two seasons were so Goddamn awful. Trey must have taken his meds. He's not as ranty. No incredible laughs this season, but at least I'm laughing. They seem a lot more focused now on shocking scenes, rather than shocking situations. Like blowing people's heads off. I laugh when they do that, but I understand that it's a cheap laugh and nothing more. Still, I'm liking it.

BTW, I believe this season constitutes a (minor) comeback, and THAT'S why I didn't just stop watching these last two seasons "if I hated it so much." Same goes for Lost, it's much better now (no doubt due to all the bitching in the first place). Haters serve a useful function, lovers are preaching to a choir that no one will ever listen to.

As for season length, let's split the difference at six and a half episodes per half season.

You must think yourself so brave and high-minded by your idiotic statement. Anytime 32 people are mowed down (I guarantee some of them were--gasp--minorities) it is a tragedy. This was the highest mass-murder (on a college campus, no less) in American history. Of course it will garner news coverage. If this happened in an inner city school in Compton, we'd be experiencing the same thing. Quit trying to feel superior and be a real human being. P.S. I hope you don't have a concealed weapons permit. Ass.

I thought this season was good overall. It wasn't the best but Hare Club for Men and Night of the Living Homeless were classics. I commend anyone who can dedicate an entire episode of a mainstream TV show to zombie films and also make a biting commentary on the homeless that doesn't pull any punches. I like how it gradually became a zombie parody much like last week's episode became a 300 parody.

The worst South Park episodes are those that are just one-note jokes repeated again and again. At least comparing the homeless to the living dead made some sense (as opposed to the lesbians as Spartans thing, which was just random and only there because 300 was out) A good ep needs side jokes and b-plots. Otherwise all you get is "ooh, this like Dawn isn't it?" for the whole length. What they need to do is start focusing on the chracters again and less on the issues. Just compare the first zombie-themed episode with this one and see which id better: one is about Stan and his Wendy woes, Cartman as Hitler, and the quest for candy; the other features a tired analogy in the place of anything funny.

SECONDLY...how many of these deaths are directly due to their being involved in illegal gangs and drug activity?? That is a far cry from 32 complete innocents being summarily murdered / executed by a nut-case.

The SP guys are more cerebral than just imitating a scene from real life for its own sake. . . . . what they would probably do in that circumstance is do a parody of a news station going through faux conscience wracking over whether or not to air a certain tape. Its the hypocracy surrounding the tragedy that they would lampoon rather than take it head on.
