My favorite of the Narnia books has a great director. I don't care if he's never handled "big" epics, he will get the heart of the story while the second unit focuses on the battles.

sorry, but since vying usually means "in competition for" I couldn't tell what you were saying about Adamson -- did he want to direct (vying for the job) or was he being forced out? context clues tell me he's more Columbus than Burton on this one. ps - i hate it when people answer their own questions, but post about them anyway in the talkback. kinda annoying.

But Harry has time to report rumors on a film that's what? Five years away? Oh well. Can't say I totally blame him. Voyage was probably my favorite Narnia book. Or maybe Silver Chair. And Michael Apted is a good choice. Hope it's better than the first film, which I didn't totally love. But back to my original point, come on Harry. Let's get back to the DVD reports. Or give it back to Moriarty. I've spoken my peace.
Anyone but Adamson.

Hopefully this will be like the Harry Potter films - a hack director makes the first two installments before the series finally gets the right treatment from a real filmmaker. Time will tell.

Hah, man that one sucked. Who knew they could come back?

Dawn Treader is a fantastic story. It really is. I actually look forward to it more than Prince Caspian. Then again, I wish Silver Chair would get here faster, too.

So, how many are heading out to the bookstores midnight for Deathly Hallows?

That's one shonky movie. Apted? Capable, competent director. Nice guy, with his heart in the right place (see the UP docs for all the evidence you'd ever need). It would be good to see a slightly left-field choice for this kinda material. If we're employing middle-aged Brits, why not Alan Parker?

... he understands he is do the next part of a series and doesn't go for re-imagining. Fortunately with the Narnia series they naturally hop from one time period to another and visit new locations.

Andrew Adamson is such a lousy live action director, that any news of someone else taking over with Narnia is good. Apted did do very good work in the films Harry mentioned, but in recent years seems to have unfortunately turned into a hack over the last 12 years.

Yeah, I hope this director can pull this off. I am a huge Bond fan, and the best thing about "The World is Not Enough" is Garbage's Music Video. Why don't they just enslave Peter Jackson and force him to make these films?

It's the worst book of the series. Seriously. Don't make a movie out of it. I'd take a Magician's Nephew or a Horse and His Boy over a Dawn Treader movie in a heart beat.

One of my favorites. Kicking Bird is great as the Sheriff in that movie. The World is not Enough is indeed the worst Bond ever. Denise Richards as a fake breasted nuclear physicist runnign around in short shorts? Even for a fucking Bond movie that is hard to believe. Die Another Day was ok. The sword fight made that one worth watching.

Plus the name- Christmas Jones, or whatever the hell her last name was. But I gotta admit I had to think about it more when someone put it this way: we can accept James Bond breaking out of his restraints in an airplane that is about to crash, pummeling a few bad guys, and leaping out of a plane sans chute to catch the only guy with a chute, put the beat down on him and float down to safety before landing .. where this time the ladies only bisexual nudist camp and champagned tasting seminar,but..... we can't picture Denise Richards as a rocket scientist?

doing the Silver Chair and Last Battler as Eustace Clarence Scrubb is in all three. Although my least favorite, you can't omit Silver Chair because it introduces Jill Pole who is in the last battle. Plus the question in Last Battle is will they use the same actors for Pevenses (sp whatever) or not. Plus you would need to use the same professor actor from Wardrobe to play the "Lord Digory? Okay, I know none of this will ever happen, but in theory...... Oh yeah, and Horse and His Boy will never be made because it will offend the Muslims. Oh, but Last Battle will do the same. Crap. Okay, I guess we settle for the first three books (published date, not chronological) and may Magicians Nephew. Nephew could even be filmed simultaneously.

Certianly not the "Worst Bond Ever!" (that's DUD...uh, I mean DAD), but it squandered some interesting ideas for clumsy action setpieces and Richards' ludicrous "scientist".

"First Narnia" is so much easier to type than "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Anyway, in order to make the PG rating, they had to cut A LOT of important footage - making the film feel incomplete, jumpy, and obviously censored. I don't think I'll bother seeing another one of these films until they get over their PG-13-phobia.
Yeah, the first should have been so much better

It was OK but we're talking one of the most well-loved book series ever, 'OK' just isn't enough. It's good that they have taken an extra long break before doing Prince Caspian because that might mean it'll be a leap forward. The four kids might seem too old though. Caspian is the one they'll have to invent a HELL of a lot for. They probably will with The Last Battle as well. What I would do is shoot Magician's Nephew and The Last Battle together, combining them into one movie so we see the birth and death of Narnia. Like someone else said, it's doubtful that they'll do The Horse And His Boy, even though it's good. The story is that the white son of the King has somehow grown up a slave to a 'dark-skinned' man of Calormen and he escapes to the north with a talking horse from Narnia. I suppose they could do it and modernise it but it's like a side story off from the main Narnia story.
Denise Richards in World is not Enough hehe

Admittedly, James Bond is nothing but unrealistic, but Denise Richards as a convincing nuclear physicist was even more so. Even the Bond girl name, Christmas Jones, was one of the worst. Probably came up with the name just to be able to use that groaner joke at the end about Christmas only coming once a year. Either way, the only academy award she was in danger of getting for that film was, "Best brief wet t-shirt nipple in a motion picture" Just my thought.
