And when it does , IMDB will be flooded with spaced fan boys trying to make excuses for why it failed including "the plantes werent in the right alignment" and "americans didnt get it". Not trying to be a hater but i think that the vast majority of americans will automatically dismiss it as a british knock off of hollywood action films and leave it the hell alone.Thats my prediction. Ive probably offended millions with this statement but.....oh well.

I've been looking forward to this project for quite a while now. I’m wagering that it'll be more than worth the price of admission. Keep it up boys.
Someone needs to tell the marketers of this movie...

...that their TV commercials make no sense at all. I haven't read about the storyline of this film yet, and the commercials play like one big in-joke. Cocking the rifles, running down the store aisles, the priest with the guns, kicking the old lady--it's cut together as though the viewer already knows what it's all about and is supposed to laugh through familiarity rather than at what's actually being shown. I like these guys and want them to do well, but the advertising is *not* going to make people who know nothing about this want to go see it. Not saying the TV spots should give away spoilers or big plot points--goodness knows there's too much of that already--but they should explain the most basic question, "what is this movie about?" Pasty guys sneering and cocking big rifles will leave most people saying, "huh?" Is this a comedy, a horror-comedy, a crime comedy, a zombie comedy? The ads don't tell me. Mystery is one thing, but there needs to be more of a hook.

Hey kevred, ITA. I was just going to post something about the horrible tv spots for this movie. The one quick shot shows the brain freeze gag and it is just horribly unfunny and makes absolutely no sense? This movie will die a horrible death unless they get some new spots out. Watching the hockey game last night at a friends place and when this ad came on people were really underwhelmed. Lots of "oh that looks great" with the eye roll.....

Don't waste your hard earned cash guys. ***Shaun of the Dead... brilliant ***Hot Fuzz a neck-deep steaming pile of batshit. Talk about jumping the shark real fast, and they didn't even call on Ted Mcgintly's services

So either you've seen it and it brain damaged you, or you haven't seen it. Mint? At best it's mint sauce, a tiny portion of an entire movie

Most Wasted Two Hours Spent At Movies In The Last Year

I went and saw this last month and honestly this sad crock of shit really is a pointless, unamusing yawn-feast piece of nothing. Kevred, don't expect anything more than the tripe you see in the tv commercial, as there IS no hook - just a crap piss-take of a film, made by a group of guys who obviously fired all their best shots last time up at bat. This is the sort of shit that needs some Weinstein treatment - IE: cut the fucker in two - then flush both halves down the shitter. It really is that bad.
Am I bovvered though?

DVD release?

Very soon I imagine - it's cinema run financial gross will make the Grindhouse double-bill gross look Titanic-sized by comparison. It'll fall from sight faster than Building 7 on 911. So the DVD version could be out in a week or two. I just hope in the special features off the DVD they add in a plot, some humour and a touch of interest. Unlikely though - there's more chance of Eli Roth developing an ounce of talent or Bill O'Reilly withdrawing his dildo from his ass or his foot from his mouth. Hot Fuzz is a piece of crap and the DVD will be an overpriced coaster. If they ever feel the need to do a sequel to Shaun Of The Dead (and I'm thinking that after this disasterious trip into blandness there won't be much other option) then they should recreate the album throwing scene, this time throwing DVDs - with the Hot Fuzz DVD being the first to be biffed, followed in quick succession by Hostel, Snakes On A Plane and a few of the other pieces of shit films that Harry gets paid big bucks to promote and propagandise as top films to the fuckhead film geeks who mindlessly lap that shit up and gullibly gobble fat-boys cool-aid.
Really?

Hot Fuzz has done over 45 million dollars and counting, Grindhouse just under 17 million and counting.

Those who are worried about all this "Hot Fuzz is crap" talk can relax. It's a really good movie as countless people in the UK and here in Australia can tell you. You guys talking it down are way overstating your case. It may not do huge box-office in the US, but those who do see it will overwhelmingly have a great time (and it will do just fine on UK and international receipts alone). Crap like "cut the fucker in two - then flush both halves down the shitter" is going to seem pretty dumb when all in here have seen it.
I love Shaun and Spaced as much as the next man...

...but Hot Fuzz really, really dissapointed me. It just wasn't funny enough and at times was downright boring. Thank God for Nick Frost though, he has some good moments.
it wasn't as good as Shaun Of The Dead

which was a pretty big ask, but then they have set their own standards pretty high. This film is not the steaming pile of shit that these other people bizarrely claim, its actually very funny if rather ridiculous - especially the big shoot out. Yes, I know that that was the point, but it just didn't sit right with me. Its a good film, certainly funnier than every other British film released since Shaun. This is only their second film though so there's still plenty of time for them to keep honing their craft. To say Hot Fuzz needs to be flushed down the shitter really is ludicrous though. By the way, to any other British comedy fans out there - am I the only one who thought Saxondale was the funniest thing Steve Coogan has done since the first series of I'm Alan Partridge???

Saxondale and Fuzz

Saxondale became funny right at the end of the first episode, when he shoots the guy in the foot. Class, easily as good as Alan Partridge series 1, although series 2 of Alan partridge was better than both of them. As for Hot Fuzz, its an instant classic, maybe not QUITE as good as Shaun of the Dead, but not far off either, anyone who doesnt find the sight of simon pegg drop kicking a pensioner in the face amusing is highly deficient in the humour department. Or American. For all those people on here who dont like it, i suggest you get back to your box sets of will grace, or everybody loves raymond. Thats probably more your level.....
