plot almost sounds a little cheesy... but i am totally there for the dialog. And chiwetel ejiofor, loved him in children of men and serenity. he will deliver Mamet's lines amazingly.

I'm one of those martial arts movie purists who doesn't like wire-work flicks. I've studied a number of martial arts over the years. Jiu-jitsu is probably the best, most comprehensive of the arts, but the least flashy. There's no way they can make a cool movie using real jiu-jitsu. That's why Steven Segall went from realistic fight scenes in his first few movies to over the top schlock, he needed more flashiness for his fat ass. Best book on jiu-jitsu/jujutsu: http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate -Jujutsu-Principles-Jonathan-M aberry/dp/1932045066/ref=sr_1_ 1/102-8412232-7805764?ie=UTF8& s=books&qid=1176469503&sr=8-1

A friend of mine attended an acting class Mamet taught through the Atlantic Theater courses in LA and said Mamet was wearing a t shirt with an MMA logo on it. Plus this will be about guys doing guy things which has clearly always fascinated him. "Third prize is you're fired."

No one writes like Mammet, love his whole ethos, including his approach to actors (Pretentious Stanislavskians beware). This is going to be good.

...from the title of the article, I was expectin this to suck...but American samurai flick wit cage-fights, bouncers, and cops? sounds cool...wit chitty-chitty-bang-bang (to lazy to scroll up to see the spellin of his name), is kinda cool too...I was expectin some so-so actor to be casted, but I gotta admit, chitty-chitty-bang-bang been good in everythin I seen him in (which is only serenity, inside man, and that big British love story)...count me in...

He has done genius work, but a lot of his stuff is just flat. But at least he always has the potential to hit one out of the park even if he strikes out instead.

...but with Mamet at the helm, I'm sure the script will be tight, with lines like "Do you wanna gossip or do you wanna shoot somebody", "Everybody needs money. That's why they call it money", and "What could have been conducted in collegial atmosphere is now fucked into cocked hat."

i have to say, this sounds interesting. BJJ is an awesome martial art, which totally conditions your entire body... but how that will transfer into an ACTION movie, i have no idea. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu doesn't employ any punches, or kicks... so it'll be interesting to see them make an intense movie out of it.

1. Aikido is teh gay, and can only be used against willing students who have been brainwashed by their instructor. 2. darth, you don't think flying armbars/triangles or some sick choreographed transitional rolling would translate well to the screen? 3. Blue belts rule.

Spartan is criminally underrated. No one writes bad ass machismo better. This sounds cooler than The Fonz in a freezer. "Don't you teach 'em knife fighting. Teach 'em to kill. That way, they meet some sonofabitch who studied knife fighting, they send his soul to hell."
Another bullshit martial art movie....

This sounds so lame. I hate martial art movies that don't stay true to the art. I love the last Samurai but Tom Cruise is no swordsman. just because he was taught to use one for the movie does not mean he knows the essence of what he holds in his hand and you can see it in the film. I am sure in this movie i will see the same thing.

I don't know if I'm missing the point or something. I really liked Spartan and I've never seen House of Games. I've enjoyed Heist, but for most of Heist and Spanish Prisoner, the dialogue really got on my nerves. It just takes me out of the experience. Its kind of distracting and feels too much like a play. Maybe somebody can shine some light, so I can watch his movies with new eyes and ears.

Look it up, tough guy. Segal uses Aiki-jutsu, which is an offshoot of Jiu-jitsu, not Aikido. Just because the names sound the same doesn't mean they're the same thing. BTW, the link I gave was to a Jujutsu book written by my teacher, one of the few Americans authorized to teach by the Japanese council. We know quite a bit about the history of the art, so "shut you [sic] uneducated mouth". And hammerofthegods, Aikido is a sporting martial art, like Judo, and while Aikido is an incomplete art, it is still useful, as it is also based on jiu-jitsu. Finally, Darth Sars is correct; Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu is a form of Jiu-jitsu that concentrates on floorwork as opposed to strikes and kicks, but it's still pretty darn effective for what it teaches. P.S. Spartan rocked, Kilmer was awesome in it.
