... that's just plain crazy. You're so incredibly wrong about that I don't know where to start. That's just the lame indie rock pose where fans only like the first few things because they felt like it was still a secret, and they hate their heroes the minute they accomplish any degree of success.

I think it’s inherent in humans to own a creative spirit. It takes geniuses (like QT) to tap into it, articulate it, and actually ‘create’. But creativity exists only in varying degrees. QT was able to get his ‘out’ with his early 2 masterpieces. It’s not disrespectful to say that his well has run dry – most people never even begin drilling! Just like George Lucas, Francis Coppola, even Alfred Hitchcock …. at some point the geniuses can’t hit the same note that erupted from them early - back when they had something original inside. QT is in this category. And that’s OK. We still love what he does – it’s just not the same.

... is more complex. They don't want the same movie over and over, just the same emotional experience. They want an 'OH ... MY ... G-G-G...' feeling again. And his recent WILDLY ENTERTAINING films are just that ... but only that. I'm not being critical here - just saying that it's OK to say QT isn't what he was when he blew our minds years ago. Currently, he's really, really great. But back then, he was GREATNESS. BTW Moriarty - keep up the good work - and THANKS!

One thing you can't argue with is both of these directors willingness to try new things. They don't get pigeonholed into a genre and they do this work as much for themselves as they do for their fans… I’m sure the paycheck isn't bad either.

Jackie Brown is my favorite QT film (His 4th if you count Four Rooms). So I guess the "he's already shot his load" theory doesn't really work for me either.

My four favorite Quentin movies from first place to fourth are Kill Bill, Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs. Notice anything about that ordering? I do. QT gets better and better with every single film he makes, and to say he's run dry on talent and imagination is ludicrous. I'm sure I'll see (or at least hear) most of you dipshits at the movies tomorrow night, and I'm also sure you'll be sitting directly behind me, bitching about every little thing you can get your puny little heads around.

Inglorious Bastards...

...will be QTs next, and it will be made for TV. On Charlie Rose, QT said, while talking about how Inglorious Bastards is next, that he'd been writing it as a novel, and it wasn't until now that he figured out how to shoot it like a novel. In this interview, speaking about TV, he says that it's great that the DVD sets allow people to watch them like they read novels. This all points to Inglorious Bastards being developed as a miniseries.
Planet Terror missing reel...
by DocBosch

At the SXSW panel, RR said he neither wrote nor shot the missing reel footage. The script was written with that part missing. So I wonder if this means he's going to go back and do re-shoots to "recover" the missing footage. And the Deathproof "missing reel" definitely needs to be "found". Vanessa Ferlito has easily became my favorite thing ever.

MiraJeff but the world needs neil to interveiw peeps, mostly THESE GUYS. get the kid on payroll for Pete's sake. I could just imagine the questions that would come out of his mouth. Not to mention the fact that QT and RR would be rolling in their seats. I towuld be like Triumph the Dog on speed.

I am going to see this but this missing reel shit, I'm not too keen on it. I'm tired of the double dipping DVD's, extended footage bs, and so forth .... But I'm a sucka and will slap down the $$ and have a great time.

by mr ahole ramirez
Apr 6th, 2007

...cuz he doesnt exist (well he still could do interviews, but the interviewee would have to sign paperwork sayin they were interviewed by "Neil")...but MiraJeff on the other hand, we seen pictures and footage of him gettin his ass kicked, and he even posts in the TBs...but Neil, nope...it would take 1 hour for Neil to post in a TB because he would have to change every noun, verb, adjective around just so it can be "Neilizied"...it just takes to much work at bein Neil (look at his Grindhouse review)...

Alien, but I wasn't exactly looking to play hardball. I was lucky to be granted the interview at all. What'd you want me to do, take Jeff Wells' advice and start asking Robert about his divorce from producer Elizabeth Avellan and his off-camera relationship with Rose? Leave that stuff to the tabloids. I just wanted a good conversation with an idol of mine. I know I have to maintain some semblance of professionalism, but try meeting your idol and not being nervous/excited. It'd be the equivalent of interviewing Michael Jordan and asking about his gambling problems and his divorce and his failure as a baseball star. Softball or not, at least I got to play ball with two of the most unique directors of the past two decades.

A totally unapreciated classic, by far QT's most mature work to date. Saw Grindhouse yesterday with my wife at the shittiest, oldest theatre we could find (conviniently, my brother is manager there, so free popcorn). We were both smiling ear to ear through the whole thing. It was an absolute blast. Anyone who calls themselves film geeks and doesn't enjoy this movie should go back to the dorm at their filmschool, and continue jerking off to the Bicycle Theif and Dersu Uzula. Remember film students- if you have a good time at the movies, the movie wasn't any good.

Thanks for the interview, MiraJeff. Great questions, answers, and energy. Fun to read. I'm fired up to see "Grindhouse" this afternoon.

Also, someone please contact Ron Moore and tell him Quentin wants to direct an episode of "Battlestar Galactica." After seeing Quentin's work on "CSI," and how he elevated his two-parter into the most intense and twisted episode of "CSI" ever, I can only imagine what he might do with BSG. Bring him on board (if at all possible), Ron, and make it a two-parter. Oh, man!

Fuck. EVERYBODY's watching Galactica!

Really warms the heart of this old time BSG fan (though by "old time" I mean "since the miniseries", not "since the 70s" :)) I'm not sure what I think about QT directing it. I suppose Moore would keep him on a tight leash, and the publicity wouldn't hurt. I guess it could be cool.
