I'm not sure it is even possible to do anything new and groundbreaking with a show that bills itself as sketch comedy. I hope Heubel gets a chance to take it to the NEXT LEVEL!
Ah, MTV sketch comedy.

If it sucks, I won't bother. If it's good, I won't bother because it'll go off the air right as I'm starting to love it, then the cast will all go on to mediocre side projects that'll never be a third as good as The State.... uhh I mean.. Human Giant.

The Chris Angel-esque Illusionator guys were my favorite. I just watched the 8 Dailymotion videos and I liked all of them. I like seeing decent comedy on TV because there is a lot of crap right now (CARLOS MENCIA).
I love you, Lindsay Weir.

Anything with Linda Cardellini in it immediately attracts my attention. If you haven't seen Freaks and Geeks, your life is not complete. Go out now to the internets tubes and buy it or rent it and watch it.
Okay, this looks truly funny.

I thought I was the only one left (besides Alex Winter) who still remembered "The Idiot Box." That was some funny stuff there.

...but it doesnt make sense for it to be on MTV...it should be on VH1 especially since they got 2 of the Best Week Ever'ers on it...also, the 3 actors on HG are over 25, which is pretty old for MTV personel...
Please let MTV keep this going...

Not only is the the funniest (wait...no, only funny) thing on the network, but it's the best sketch on TV. Certainly since Mr Show, maybe since Kids in the Hall. It's more short videos than normal, SNL style "here's three quarters of a room and a wacky character!" sketch stuff. Which is all kinds of boring now.

And the shittiest mixed tape contest was an online video about a year ago. I like these guys on Best Week Ever and that is where they should stay. This show was pretty much a bust.

Did I chuckle? Yes. Do I think that the budget for this series would have been better spent on the music clearances preventing a DVD release of "The State"? Absolutely.
Don't they have these sketches up on youtube?

I'm not sure if it's the same show. But I thought that they were putting these sketches up on youtube to promote the show. My friend tells me no because MTV is suing youtube for whatever reason. But I think this is the same show: http://tinyurl.com/2wdc3m

It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. I will still watch again because I like the cast and upcoming guest stars, but I hope to see significant improvement. I doubt this will be around long.
How about releasing The State on DVD, a-holes!

With all the success of Reno 911 and some of the writers of The State, I'm amazed this gem of an MTV show from the 90s hasn't found its way to DVD yet. A disgrace! Chekov says, "GIVE US THE STATE, MTWHEE!!!"

...to wear a hat at all times when not needing a wig for a sketch? Is MTV afraid that their audience will see a balding man and run off to Fuse?
