If it's a reboot why bring back actors from the other films! Grr. It's like having Judi Dench as M, as good as it the actor may be, it's a REBOOT so they can't be involved!

I would love a remake without Christopher "suck ass" Lambert! They should get Donny Yen to play Scorpion, and Shia LaBeouf to play Johnny Cage, just so I can watch his nuts get smashed.

You gotta take off the kid gloves and just go all out on this movie to make it enjoyable. I want some awesome onscreen fatalities. Plus it should automatically have a Neill Cumpston review. Pronto.

As much as I loathe Paul Anderson, he pulled off a movie that was at the most a re-hash of Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon" and gave a good Mortal Kombat spin to it. The only thing that was missing was a fight between Scorpion and Sub-Zero which we got in "Annihilation", however you could barely see the fight and they just went up and starting hitting each other. No commentary between the two about the deep hatred they have for one another or even explaining WHY they hated each other. Which was why it was so disappointing. Hope this new one works out better then Annhilation did.

When MK: Armageddon was released Ed Boon said the next game would feature new characters. Maybe MK: 3 will be used as a way to introduce these new fighters. Why not go the cg route it worked for the Turtles. The best MK movie in my opinion is the intro from MK: Shaolin Monks. That’s the kind of action what I want to see in the next MK movie! http://tinyurl.com/2y9f54

The first film was alright other than the casting. The actors and actresses had all the charisma of a piece of wet toast (except for the Highlander). Plus, I hope they get some people who can actually fight in this one. Maybe get a choreographer who can be creative. I won't mention the second one, which was absolutely horrid in every way.

Honestly, that movie was a singularity of awful. They couldn't have made it any worse if they'd tried. MK1 was a half-decent, brainless movie hampered by way too much cheese. I can't say I'm excited to see another one.

When I first saw MK1, thought it was decent flick and again when it popped up on video...but when I saw it again 3 years ago, I didnt think it aged to well at all.. MK2 - one of the worst films I ever seen. Watched it again about 2 years ago..It's even worse. It's even a good bad film. Just straight up bad.

I've been reading about this sequel for a while now and i've been saying that they should restart the series. Follow the actual game storylines and as much as I love the soundtracks, give us Dan Forden's music. Over the top 300 level violence as well. I'm kind of worried about Midway looking over the script though as there's things in Shaolin Monks that don't match what happened in MK1 and MK2.

totally agree that there are other games that should be made into movies first. God of War anyone. wait what am I saying, NO GAMES SHOULD BE MADE INTO MOVIES!!!!! havent we had enough of these bad movies double dragon, Super Mario Bros, alone in the dark, seriuosly people. enough with the game to movie adaptations. granted the resident evil flicks are ok cuz they deviated a lil bit from the actual games storyline but for ever good one, theres BOB HOSKINS and Scott WOLFE waiting in the wing to make another shitty one.

I don't care how ridiculous it would be, this film should have every single character from the mythos, like MK: Armageddon. Get the same actor to play multiple parts, if they need to. MK draws its strength from two things:violence, and the insane variety of its characters. Some could be just cameos sitting in a cantina or something, and some could appear on screen for five seconds only to be impaled or beheaded. Get the Wilson brothers to play lame characters like Stryker and Kobra. This should be the Ocean's 13/Rat Race of video game movies.

would be with a 150+million budget and a hard-r rating with jet li as liu kang and weta on effects. you'd use the classic characters and keep their look....but you'd ignore ALL of the "mk history"...and make up your own plot. you'd get WETA on board too. Thing is....a decent mortal kombat movie would rake it in.....300-style. a restart sounds better than that proposed sub-zero based prequel. I quite liked the first one (even though I still think it could have been WAY better) and the second one was really terrible.

If only video games could get respect from Hollywood the way comic books SORT OF get. I hope Roger Ebert gets well and all, but he is wrong when he says that video games is not art. What about Final Fantasy VI? Shadow of the Colossus? Hell, even the Metal Gear Solid series! Oh well, I guess we're gonna have to wait about 40 years or so, when Hollywood runs out of comic book material. Then we'll be seeing interviews with producers, writers, and directors talking about how much material there is in video games and how much respect they have for it and blah blah blah. They're all so full of crap! All they care about is what makes money. Video Game movies can and will be awesome, some day.

First one was ok, second was one of the worst films ever. Im not as interested in the idea of a new mortal kombat movie as i was in the nineties, but if its gonna be an R rated, bloody , violent franchise restart with good fights, then im there.

It is the only way to get it completely right, unless you downplay some of the costumes. The bright colors in a live action just look cartoony. A hard R rated animated adventure is the way to do it.

What other film gives you a high level thesp, A future Bond, and The Exorcist dressed in dreadful costumes screaming utter drivel as if their lives depend on it. My favourite Line is (aside from: GORDON'S ALIVE! obviously)

DALE: Say something to distract me

FLASH: (Tells his story about how he should have chatted her up)

DALE: You're Just Saying that to distract me.

Genius. I may be a bit off, but it is funny as hell, and the whole film is full of duff bits like that.

MK annihalation, on the other hand, is just sheer unmitigated crap

If you enjoy watching it and can enjoy watching it over and over again, then it's a GOOD MOVIE, no matter how ridiculous it is. Oh, and by the way, the best line is clearly "Oh, well, who wants to live forever? DIVE!" No other actor on Earth could have sold that line like Blessed did. Incredible.
Craziest crowd I've ever seen in a theater...
by SK229
Mar 30th, 2007

...still MK1 on opening night near the Jersey shore. I mean people were going absolutely apeshit over the logo, the flames, the music, the fights. It was a pretty fun, communal experience, I must say. Thinking back, it reminds me of one of the fun aspects of going to the movies. I don't remember people being assholes either, it was just a good time and the crowd that was there was exactly that crowd that SHOULD be there. Now? Fucking forget it... there'd be people complaining about the noise as if they're seeing Merchant Ivory film, the noisey people threatening to kick the ass of the non-noisey people, little kids screaming and watching the fatalities... it's not the movies that have changed so much, but the audiences. The downfall of western civilization, I guess...
