was the best part of that film: those dv shots of an abandoned london. after that, it slowly went downhill towards what was ultimately a shitty conclusion. i still look forward to the sequel, though. despite the first film being overrated, it's still a concept with lots of potential.

The reviewer in the link piece says that London has been fortified into safe zones and that's where all hell breaks loose. If they turn this into a zombie movie that riffs on the modern "surveillance state", and half the danger is that the fortress these people are in is also a cage that prevents their escape, then it might be a decent sequel.

thats the cool think about zombie movies... you have the action and gore and scary stuff, but you also have the politics and "humanity" angle that comes into play and really makes the characters and viewer think about stuffs. Original Day of the Dead had some really good ideas in it.

With some trepidation of course. I would be more excited if Danny Boyle returned to direct, because then you would know that at least one Brian Eno song would be featured on the soundtrack.

Seriously, you guys must be in some retirement home or something. I don't know anybody under 50 who goes to sequels.

My friends and I all go to see prequels and remakes only. But it's hard to get organized since we can only communicate through texting and Facebook. I heard there used to be this thing called conversation and it happened in person or over the telephone. Maybe one of you old timers can teach me how to do that. It sounds like a great way to communicate, I just don't know how I'll express my mood without smiley icons.

the idea and premise was brilliant, but once they introduced that army shit the film fell apart for me. this coulda been so good. the idea of a whole country closing down is just mind blowing, mate. BUT it fucked up when the army shit came in, as i said earlier, AND the whole REASON for the "rage" was fucking weak. i mean seriously fucking weak. and dats what drives the whole film! WTF! these guys should've thought that element through a bit better if dats the thing dats gonna hold the film together. now if thats what happened on the first film, how in the fuck of my mama's hairy pussy is this 28 years later or whatever its called gonna be any good. they struggled on the first one so this is gonna be cat shit.

first one had great ideas but was flawed. now ur looking forward to this steaming pile of shit. this is a major fucking flawed production. shit! how can the public be so blind? no wonder film producers patronize us and force feed us 'shit on a plane' and 'shrek 15; donkey fucks the wolf by accident' and 'adam sandler is the 4 foot 2 talking turkey'. the latter is probably a real film. hey universal shitctures! dont sue me, mate! all is lost. wake me up when human mankind inteliigence returns.

To each their own, but I liked the first one...a lot. It's the thinking man's horror film (I once wrote an essay about the film using essays by Emma Goldman to analyze it). People generally hated the part where the army showed up, but without the army the major philisophical point of the film is lost. Sure, this is a sequel, and that's a bad sign in and of itself, but there are so few horror films that aren't just slasher flicks for the kids. I'm hoping this movie has one-tenth the intelligence of the first movie, which would put it light years beyond most horror films.
No Boyle = maybe catch it on netflix

Bottom line the first movie worked due to the direction and Cillian Murphy was pretty good in the lead role. Without either this sequel just seems to be a quick cash-in and nothing more.

you defend yaself well, son. me personally, i was disapointed in the first as i sed. it couldve been so much more. its like danny boyle handed over the directing duties half way thru to michael bay or uwe bol and said "hey pal, finish this movie up for me".
