Now think about it son... Isn't the word "blowjob" a much more interesting way to inaugurate a talkback? Use some creativity.

The video short was pretty good without any lines of dialogue. I wonder what a full-length feature's story would be?

So, even if they expand this to feature length, what do they need voices for? I think silent characters in the short film were a lot more interesting and mysterious without talking.

Nothing is worse than being distracted by the familiar voice of every other character in a cartoon(especially if the familiar voice happens to be Robin Williams). Hire PROFESSIONAL voice talent, meaning people we don't see in every other live-action film. Just because Entertainment Tonight doesn't come down to your studio to see Danny Devito pretend he is a rabbit doesn't mean you can't have a successful movie, ya fucks.

big screen

I saw this at Mike Judge & Don Hertzfelt's "The Animation Show", and it played really well on the big screen. It was by far the favorite piece of the crowd in Ann Arbor, perhaps because it was the most approachable. The textures were gorgeous, and I can only imagine they'll improve. It depends pretty heavily on referencing established film conventions to get away without any voices. I wonder if the addition of speech will affect that particularly charming aspect. Also, I'd argue that sometimes well known folk can be annoying (was particularly put off by Gillian Anderson in Mononoke), but specifically, Elijah Wood totally owned the character in Happy Feet.

I actually grew up with him. Hy brother and I lived up the street from him and his brother about 20+ years ago. hehehe. Pretty cool to see he is having such success. I remember them as good people, a lot of fun, and a lot of imagination. His brother got me into comics. Wild.

I never would have caught up with these memories if it wasn't for this article. That sparked a bit of googling, and what do you know, there's Shane. Good for him!

Voice acting?

That doesn't need no hobbit voice acting. I think it would detract from the excellent animation. There was a lot of emotion conveyed in the motion of the characters even without voices. I can't imagine that having him sound like a hobbit would add much.

vaterite, it seems to me they don't even try to actually cast these things based on the needs of the picture, but simply find all the big names willing to do animation, throw them into a hat, and pull out some names and match them to characters. A big traditional actor may in some cases be right for a voice, but when the films are stuffed with "names", it pretty much tells me any success in matching up a voice to a character happened on accident.

In animation it's pretty easy to go wrong, even if it's not a big name. For example, whoever the woman is who does the English voice for Naruto. Granted, it's always about the money when studio's go for stars (even MORE true in live action), but I'm not sure it detracts from the picture if the actors themselves are respectful of the property. Elijah is definitely a nerd, so I wouldn't worry about that so much. The lead character in nine is definitely young, if war-scarred.

Because if Maguire and Topher Grace can become muscular heroes thanks to physical therapy and lots and lots of padding, so can Frodo. Besides, Jake Gyllenhaal is never going to do it, and the world isn't perfect enough for Milo Ventimiglia to play TWO heroes named Peter. I have no opinion at all on this movie 9 though, so I add nothing to this talkback--and I don't care!

However, I'm not sure that expanding it to 90 minutes and filling it with celebrity voice casting will improve upon it.
