Broasted Winick?

"Broasting is not only the process of frying chickens under pressure, but includes a special marinating process." So I guess if I did it right Winick will be marinating in his own juices while his temperature rises and the pressure builds until, uh, he either becomes a delightful meal or attacks me with a carving knife. Hmmm... maybe I should have stuck with the raking over the coals.

...not only has he basically spent the last couple of years endlessly recycling his usual stock standard schtick, but he's managed to make Ollie, one of the most charismatic characters in the DCU, boring as batshit. And the end result of all this? GA's title is now coming to an end...again. Hopefully it'll get a relaunch with a creative team that can breathe some much needed life back into the character.
New Wonder Woman Series

I wonder if anyone would go the Xena route on Wonder Woman. She has to somehow atone for what she did to Maxwell Lord by taking in a young woman and mentoring her. I mean, I know she only killed Lord because Lord was going to use Superman as a weapon against his own good (Somehow that was forgotten) and it seems now that Wonder Woman could take in a young female superhero the way Xena took in Gabrielle, who over time changed Xena's outlook on life. Perhaps Diana needs a daugter to approach her own feelings of guilt with her mother, who she fooled to go to the outside world in the first place.

Whatever you do, don't read Amazing Spider-Man 529! It might be the single worst issue of JMS's run. Even if you're a Spider-Man completist, save your dough. This crap will be available in the quarter bin by November.

I just don't get this new Moon Knight
by GiggityGoo
Mar 21st, 2007
10:44:22 AM
I *loved* the original 70s/80s Moon Knight. When he was written well, he was a great character. But this new iteration is just... terrible! People keep praising the artwork, but... it's derivative of Liefeld's first batch of proteges (Mychels, Fraga, etc.). And the writing... The faceless Bushman is ludicrous, a Tim Burton Batman-esque lunatic.

If someone out there is loving it, then that's great. But I'm just lost on the appeal.

And the reviewer was correct about Cap's appearance... don't be misled by the cover, as I was. Cap shows up in a jacket (opened just enough to show some blue chain mail and a white star point), threatens Moonie, and then hits the road. That's it.

Red Hood

RighteousBrother, I don't think he'll be Red Hood forever. I have a bad feeling about Dick Grayson in the next DC "UNIVERSAL EVENT" mini. They almost killed the guy in Infinite Crisis as it is, I just think they're looking for a better way to do it. I think Bart Allen will probably eat it in a similar fashion, possibly on the same mission.

Though "Chosen" was just a good episode, especially since Joss wrote it. Angel's fourth season, I maintain, is the most perfectly paced piece of serialized television ever, and every ep just upped the ante that much more. Plus it had bookends. And I'm honestly happy that Joss stayed out of the mix for the most part, because that one ep he wrote and directed early on in the season stuck out like a sore thumb.

perfection. I'm not sure if I'd want to see the series continue (although I'll be buying when IDW releases Season 6) because that ending left something so epic, so unknown that I don't think anything could live up to what I was thinking in my mind for the past few years. I think I liked Angels final season more so than the fourth, but I thought the fourth season is where it really hit it's stride. I loved Illyria btw.

Buffy: Season 8 (it's true Childe Roland) is great. It's lie Thalya said, "It's pre UPN Buffy." Everything was pitch perfect for me, but Humph is totally right about new people hoping to learn about Buffy from this, go catch up on 150 hours of television. He's also right about the trade off with the internal monologue and the music score, but in this case I think it's a fair trade. I always hear music in my head anyways. ; )

I loved Buffy and Angel both. Angel suffered the fate of most good shows (R.I.P. Studio 60, and a hearty "FUCK YOU" to all YOU bastards for not watching it), but at least they got the chance to "finish" the story. Sure, they didn't make Spike a "real boy" (OH FUCK YOU if you think that Morrisey wanna-be was gonna do it) but they got to go out with a bang, and have THE greatest walk-off line in TV history.

All that said...FUCKING STOP WITH THE SHIT, JOSS! Please, goddamn it, please get back to FireFly. Find a way. Fuck if SciFi will air that abortion "Stargate: Atlantis" then they will fucking jizz themselves over FireFly. Fuck FOX! FUCK!

So defrost, here's the main body of it: Identity Crisis killed off Sue Dibny and established that the Justice League had been using Zatanna to manipulate the minds of DC villains for years (erasing discovery of secret IDs and even altering behavior.) Turns out the Atom's ex-girlfriend Jean Loring was the killer, in an insane attempt to draw Atom closer by making it seem like JLA loved ones were in danger. Atom locks her in Arkham, Ralph Dibny begins going mildly insane, and Batman becomes ultra-secret-super-paranoid figured out he was mind-scrambled too, because of his vehement protest of a magical "lobotomy" on Dr. Light...and we find out he has a secret satellite. Between the IC's, Checkmate, led by Max Lord tries to orchestrate a worldwide movement against superhumans. He kills the first man to uncover things (Blue Beetle) and releases the OMACs against super-humanity. Then Max Lord takes over Superman's mind, forcing Wonder Woman to kill Lord. This is the icing on the cake for Kal-L, the Earth-2 Superman, who has been observing DC "Earth" from Alex Luthor's pocket dimension since the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths. What Kal-L doesn't know is that Alex Luthor and Superboy-Prime (also from old Crisis) have been screwing with the time stream, causing problems like the return of Donna Troy and Jason Todd. Alex Luthor is even managing to sneak out and impersonate the real Lex Luthor, organizing an army of Supervillains (Villains United series) and wreaking havoc. After the villain Society wipes out the Freedom Fighters, killing most of them, Kal-L helps Alex, SB-Prime, and Earth 2 Lois bust out into the "real" universe. Hilarity ensues. To sum up, Alex and SB-Prime want to create a "perfect" universe and they've tricked Kal-L along. So the heroes try and stop them. SB-Prime kills a bunch of lame Titans before essentially every Flash ever traps him in the Speed Force. But SBP returns wearing Monitor armor. Current Superboy fights him and dies. Earth 2 Lois dies. Everyone gangs up on SBP and Alex and takes care of business, resulting in a depowered Superman and a dead Kal-L, and SBP goes to Lantern Prison. Alex escapes but is killed by real Lex Luthor and the Joker for impersonating Luthor to the Society and not inviting Joker when he did so. Wrapping things up, there's a new Latino Blue Beetle who uses the scarab; Booster Gold notices that history is screwing up; the BIG 3 (Bats, Supes, WW) take a year's vacation; Bart Allen returns from the Speed Force (which at the time freaked the hell out of SBP despite SBP being Silver-Age Kryptonian-powerful) and at first quits deciding to make a go of it as the new Flash; Wally West and family are apparently in the Speed Force and so is Barry--and the Speed Force is now inside Bart, kinda; the JLA headquarters is wrecked up...and about a hundred other things. But thats the short version... deep breath... WHEW.

My info was a combo of Borders visits, Wikipedia browses, and uh...maybe one teeny weeny BitTorrent download. Sadly, it was off the top of my head. Personally, I prefer the Animated Universe at this point, even though it's largely dead. I am curious to see how World War 3 progresses in 52. Black Adam is such a good character. Overall, I'd say both Marvel and DC have done adequate but uneven jobs in trying to overhaul their continuities lately, particularly concerning Wally West and Captain America. Marvel took a slightly bigger risk with their major characters but overdid the shock value "events" (Peter Parker unmasks, Thor Clone, FF split, Iron Man: Asshole of S.H.I.E.L.D., Mar-Vell lives, Homicidal Thunderbolts, R.I.P Cap,) in a too-rapid timespan, and DC kind of danced around their major players, overdid the diversity (new heroes of seemingly every single race and like 3 homosexuals have shown up in like 18 months...I like diversity, but does every third new super-heroine have to be a lesbian these days?) but definitely put forth more overall effort (52, for all its flaws, is a massive undertaking considering the time frame.)

it comes to Angel and how The WB treated Angel like an unwanted stepchild. Poor Wesley. Just when he finally got the girl, fate stepped in with cruelest form of cockblockery and drove him over the edge and in true Shakespherian form, they used Gunn in an indirect way to do it in a sense that she initially chose gunn over Wesley in Season 3's ep. At least to me, was from that last page in issue ?, let's call it Issue 1. Where Jack Flag's wife says to him "They're going to kill you for being a superhero." Now, this Jack Flag guy is who? Who knows. So you have absolutely no idea whether he lives or dies. It seemed so unpredictable. I think I'm going to go to the shop and read it, as well as my secret copy of Catain America 25 I've been saving! Where is it, might you ask? Why, it's in the same place I sometimes hide an issue of All Star Superman when I don't have the flow with me. Either between issues of OMAC or New Excalibur. Don't tell anybody.

Here we go luscious loo, Outkasts best TWO albums are "ATLiens" and "Aquemeni." "Stankonia" is awesome, as is "Southernplaya listicadillac muzik", but stay clear of "Idlewild" which is easily their worst album. It's not that it's horrible, it's just that it's the only album I've ever heard of theirs that I knew was their worst and all of the others it's hard to choose sometimes.

Get "ATLiens" if you want some soulful sci-fi alien type kind of music, but in hip-hop form before it was nothing but grills and white tee's. This album was the first time Boi and Andre produced anything and it was awesome. "ATLiens" is the Outkast album of choice for pot heads too. NOTE: My cousin who thinks he's a super smart dude used to call it 'At-liens.' Tard.

"Aquemini" is… perfect. It's one of my favorite all time albums. It's in my car right now below my cd player. I can't believe it's nearly a decade old. Outkast have a commentary on everything from abortion to growing up young to a night in a club (Spottieottie dopaliscious) to Dre 'returning' - it's awesome. Message me if you want more details. Devin the Dude just came out with a new album yesterday. He's great too.

What's this? Someone's talking about one of my favorite groups ever? Man, it's good to see some 'Kast heads up in here. Especially cats who listened to them before Stankonia(which I still love immensely "Slum Beautiful" and "Stankonia" are two unlikely get-er in the mood songs IMO). And wow, I agree with almost everything Heathen said.

It's really gratifiying to watch artists grow like they did. They were able to evolve and experiment with there own sound while paying homage to, rather than ape, their diverse influences (like Kate Bush).

i'd go with aquemini...

Or Big Boi and Andre 3000. Thanks, Tito! Being in the south and going to school in the country opened up a whole new world of music and fortunately Outkast was a prime force in that. I love Stankonia too (Toliet Tisha, Gasoline Dreams, Red Velvet as well), but you're right about that being the point where everyone picked up on Kasts talent and that's when we started to see the pressure build in them as a group. I'd want nothing more than to have a 'normal' (which is an odd way to describe Outkast) album from the two, but I doubt we're ever going to get another one. Although I did come across a few remixes that had Andre actually rapping in them. The 'You' remix by that Lloyd kid has a great Andre verse and there's a 'Throw Some D's' remix that has another Andre verse and finally there's a remix to something called 'Walk It Out' which sounds like some new age hip-hop that I can't stand, but then Andre comes in and owns the whole song. I mean he owns it. Maybe because he's talking about how he doesn't like the new trends either?
He says: "you're new to this part of town
your white tee, well to me, looks like a night gown
make your momma proud, take that thing two sizes down"

I think it's great how he's making fun of the type of things that are popular in hip-hop currently. I hate those huge white tees.

My favorite verses maybe ever of theirs might be from 'da Art of Storytellin' and 'Elevators' and 'Jazzy Belle.' I dunno, there's so much to choose from. I'm already rambling. : )

Wow, from Buffy to Outkast. This talkback is the greatest.

"True I got more fans than the average man but not enough loot to last me to the end of week, I live by the beat like you live check to check, if you don't move yo' feet than I don't eat, so we like neck to neck." One of my favorite lyrics.

Yeah, I went to school down south also(Nashville, TN) and up till than the only southern rappers I listened to were the Geto Boys, which means I listened to Scarface. But the Houston southern vibe was a little bit different than Georgia, Tenn., Carolina southern vibe(check out the flick ATL-criminally underrated). I was almost immediately taken by those guys. I like the fact that they dispel the illusions and trappings of modern hip-hop(white tee's, gangster shit, ect.) but embrace the fact that those are still aspects of hip hop. Maybe it doesn't have to be that big of an aspect. And I'm with you, whenever Big or Dre are laying lyrics on someone elses song i'm there. Dre absolutely rips up "Throw some D's."

Yeah Psy,I hope they don't kill Adam at the end of 52. He reminds me of one Namor a little bit(one of my all time fave characters).

Of course, someone would have to be a total fucking retard to even be able to stand up, so I'm sure there won't be a --"

Iron Mans armor [warning! perimeter breach!]
Hercules breaks through the walls--

HERCULES: "SMASH YOU WITH ENTIRE BUILDING FU!"

IRON MAN: "SHIT!"

Awesome stuff and I had no idea it was out there. Thanks again, Rev.

Alan Moore never got no pointers from Rob Liefeld! Even if Liefeld did try to give Moore pointers, in the end they were so bulgy and anatomically incorrect and full of pouches Moore couldn't possibly take them seriously and went with his instincts anyway...i mean those pointers' eyes were too small and close together, wtf's up with that? By the way, that's not how legs work.

I'm sick and tired of people saying DC's better than Marvel. In the end it all comes down to this: DC is gay, Marvel is not. It's that friggin' simple. If you can't see that then you are blind and i don't even wanna see you. Even tho' i can see you, cause you're the blind one, not me. You would probably give anything to SEE something, even me, because of the beauty of actually being able to see stuff, but i don't care. You're just an idiot.

Finally, comics aren't just for kids anymore. In fact, kids don't even read comics anymore. Fat guys who sweat too much are the new kids. They eat that superhero shit up like it's Taco Bell or something, and then they complain about it because clearly that's not the Tony Stark i grew up reading! I'm reading this incredibly important graphic novel about these really hip Paul Pope type guys who sit around in dingy rooms smoking cigarrettes and talking about indy rock, and they do this cool meta thing where one of them says something and the other goes hey, that only happens in superhero comics. Don't do that shit, dude...that shit's for retards. Because superheroes are silly, see? But serious comics man, those are art.

Yes, I just went out and saw the movie. I saw a few stories on Newsarama about it this week and went "hmm.. I really need to chill. This sounds like fun!". And it was. Lots of Turtle-y goodness, some great Turtle-style dialogue, and some great character work that sounds like it'll pay big dividends if there's a sequel. The fight between Raph and Leo was really well done and the animation was striking in places, particularly the lighting when it was raining. It's not just a kiddie movie, though it is good clean bloodless fun. I give it 3 stars out of 4.

(Oh, and Buffy voices April without being overly-Buffy. Not to mention Captain Picard, Silent Bob, and Human Torch also provide voices)

All his stuff is very derivative and unorigianl. All he does is have his characters talk about trivia and excuse it as "plot development" A BKV comic is worse than Shrek 3. ...but I fooled the creative writing professor into thinking I could write like him. Mind you, I can't write like him, the guy is brilliant. But we read INNOCENT ERINDERA and I quickly retyped my short story, changing the female lead's name from Sarah to Maria, which I think put me up a grade and a half because my story sucked. Also read 100 YEARS O' SOLITUDE, of course, and actually knew a guy named Aueriliano, except that he was Italian, not Colombian.
There's this Garcia MArquez book

Called 12 Cuentos Peregrinos...i have no idea what it's called up there or if the thing was translated at all, but it's 12 short stories and it's probably one of my fave books ever. highly recommended.

Seriously, ever since I "discovered" his writing on The Hood, I've loved everything I've read by him. Runaways....Whedon may up the sales, but I have my doubts he'll keep the quality level. And the latest Y the Last Man is the comic of the week. It was Sofa King Good!!! He is the best example of a writer who respects comics and characters but is still fresh. I bow to you, BKV!
Yeah the new Y was crazy good

First, Heath, kick yourself in the sack. Make sure you get them both, too. Fucking Death Crap.

Second, I just saw 300 in IMAX. Homo-erotic ass-kickery at it's non-historicly accurate best. BTW, was anyone else sitting there waiting for O'Neill to bust in and unload a mag in Xerxes? Fucker had a snake in his head fo' sho! "This won't be over quickly. You won't enjoy it. I am not your queen." Hell yeah! I have never wanted another woman to share mine an 'ettes bed until that goddamned scene, and with as much as Turtlette liked it I could proabably get her to agree too.

One bad thing though. Butler isn't Snake Plisken, and never will be.

I'm The New Writer On Butler's Snake Plissken Flick...

...as I understand it, Butler will be playing Snake Plissken III, son of Snake Plissken Jr. who will be played by Kurt Russell (all Plisskens are born missing one eye and with webbed toes). I'm told that if I turn in a kick ass draft they may be able to land Clint Eastwood as Snake Plissken Sr. My working draft is titled ESCAPE FROM DOLLYWOOD. It seems that the large breasted country singer's theme park is now a maximum security asylum for the inbred. It seems that Grandma Plisskin was a third cousin of Snake Sr.'s (she only has one eye, they're talking somebody like Eva Marie Saint or Gena Rowlands or Joanne Woodward in a cameo). So Snake Jr. (Kurt) is an inmate and his son (Butler) teams up with his Grandpa (Clint) to bust him out. Expect a family affair with Jane Seymour as Snake's ex-wife (to explain Snake Jr.'s funny accent). I've got to earn that million bucks, custom Purdy shotgun, and new H2 fully engorged with Cuban cigars.

Yeah, I'm defintely down with the guy. Go Buzz. I've already decided to side with him when the Talkback Civil War goes down. Also, recently read Tintin and The Cigars of tthe Pharaoh, and apart from the unsettling racist depiction of the black sailors, I thought it was pretty damn good. I do love me some Herge art.

Sure, if it's personal, but this is a fraternal organization. I was going to make one of my stupid jokes and say,"In your face, @$$holes! I'm a Cog now!" but I'm trying to stay away from the Dark Side of the Farce, which is often misinterpreted on this www.com type thang.
