Batman Beyond, Justice League Unlimited, Miami Vice Seasons 3 AND 4! Luckily, I don't have to spend a single cent on any of it! My birthday was last month, I just asked a lots of best Buy gift cards! Plus, I used some of that to snag Casino Royale (which I'll end up double dipping when the "ultimate edition" comes out). In any case, I'm glued to the television set until Thursday when I work again. -NJM

Season 4 was the show's pure pinnacle. but i guess if i own the relatively lackluster season 1-2 set, might as well get the equally lackluster season 5. it IS patrick warburton, after all. and all the DB Cooper stuff is rather funny.

I probably won't buy season 5 of Newsradio until it's under $20. I liked some of the eps (S'Matthew, Joe-Jitsu, "A mix of kung-fu, karate, and a bunch of crap I made up"), but Lovitz lacked as a regular, being much funnier in his two previous guest appearances. Plus, no Khandi Alexander. :o( Also sad to see the last two Dini/Timm-verse show releases. Dana Tan was fucking HOT. I hope Terry got to hit that...

All I remember from this season was the first episode. Matthew was totally destroyed by Bill's death, which I understand wasn't far from the truth insofar as Andy and Phil were concerned. That episode was just....sad....as.....hell. It still bums me out to remember losing Phil to that crazy bitch.

I know the 1st season releases of both shows didn't sell that well, but they have to release the rest of the seasons. I'd love to have a complete collection of both shows. It amazes me on some of the other shows they release, but 2 of the greatest 80's sitcoms, no thanks. At least Doogie Howser got released.

When the hell are they putting out BSG season 3 on DVD? They usually put out the first half before the second half comes out. What's the deal? Are they waiting to put it out after the whole season is over?

The ep where Bill got a "man-servant" from an ad in the newspaper. Then the ep where Bill was building his "street cred" by using really bad slang when selling Rocketfuel Malt Liquor. "Gazziza Dilznoofus it's Bill McNeal saying get with the crezappy taste of Rocketfuel Malt Liquor... Rocketfuel's got tha upstate prison flavor that keeps you ugly all night long. So when you wanna get sick remember, nothing makes yo' feet stank like Rocketfuel Malt Liquor... DAMN! It's crezappy!!!"

The first episode where they're all dealing with Phil Hartman's death was just a bit too real. You could really see the shock in everyone's face, and it definitely affected the performances. I really got the impression that they were just reeling from it. Unfortunately, as funny as Jon Lovitz can be, he was not the right character to replace him and the show suffered. Hartman's death left a pompous-ass-sized hole in the cast that Lovitz's goofy persona couldn't fill. Still, four incredible seasons that still hold up ten years later.

and brings in a piano. NewsRadio was a fantastic show, and although the 5th season obviously suffered, and the fact that Lovitz had been on twice before as different guest characters, didn't help, but it still has good stuff in it. The whole Dave "pure evil" stuff is great, and Lovitz's "I'd much rather have sex than gender" bit I enjoyed. It's a shame though that Hartman died and that NBC hated the show (said the characters were too mean, and then you look at how Will and Grace became a staple of their network for almost a decade), as it could have gone on for a few more years easily.

was a great show. It's ironic that Hartman's crazy wife was the one who managed to effectively end the show, after NBC's poor treatment couldn't.

"When Johnny comes marching home again, He's Gay! He's Gay!" The Public Domain is probably in my Top Ten episodes of any sitcom all-time. I honestly think I hurt myself from laughing so hard the first time I saw it, when Bill just flattens Paul Gleason and then meekly proclaims 'I panicked'. And Dave's barely contained glee afterwards is priceless as well. Great show, but still wavering on whether or not I'll pick up Season 5. Anybody who ran out and got it and can provide detail on the commentary tracks would be appreciated. The ones on Season 4 were a bit sparse compared to the previous sets.

I forgot about this McNeal quote. Phil Hartman had a wonderful way of delivering a line. "There comes a time in every friendship when you have to say, I never liked you - get lost."

He was absolutely awesome on SNL--arguably the strongest cast member of that whole lot. (And I really do have fond memories of that period.) But ever since then, he's been pretty much mediocre in everything. The only thing of his since SNL that I've really enjoyed is The Critic.
