I'm gonna miss the hell out of this show if it ends this season. I feel it needs one more season to fully wrap everything up. Specifically the drama with Luke and Lorelai, Luke and his daughter, Richard Gilmore, and any of the bad blood between Lorelai and her mother.
Herc just dropped you a note on Veronica Mars' demise..

The CW is actually going to jettison their entire Tuesday night lineup? I can't feel animosity toward Alexis Bledel; she's the holdout, from what I've heard.

The success of Skank-a-Palooza probably sealed VM's fate, if this report from E! is true. :(

Congratulations: first in the Gilmore Girls thread.

herc may wail and diss this season without the pallindos at the helm, but i think they've done a really good job of maintaining the feel of the show and the canon of the characters. i've watched this show since 2001, and i can't tell the difference, really.

Anyone ever watch MASH on TVLand?

Sometimes, especially on Tuesday nights, I will watch an old episode of MASH and say to myself "oh, so THAT'S what the Gilmore Girls have been trying to do". That writing was brilliant- Hawkeye and Trapper/BJ had a quick wit and it was actually very believable. And funny. Gilmore Girls though.. they just talk too fast, and over each other. Worse, what they have to say isn't funny and doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Its just a bunch of yammering. I frankly don't understand why it's gotten the coverage it has on this site. Well.. scratch that.. I DO know why, but I don't know why that person likes this show so much.
Thank god this show is going away

This season is so much better without the Palladinos

They seriously fucked things up by having Lorelai hop into bed with Christopher for another pointless dead-end romance, but that's finally run its course. Lane's pregnancy has been particularly hysterical this season and Zack's character has stepped up considerably as a result, so maybe they should just replace GG with a HEP ALIEN spinoff series.
Love the show, but it's about time to wrap it up.

There isn't anywhere left for them to take the plot or these characters. I'm guessing (no big stretch here) that the finale will feature a Lorelai/Luke wedding and Rory graduating Yale and going off to work for the NY Times.
I'd watch that show in a heartbeat, SpyGuy

They could even bring Dave Rygalski back now that the OC has ended and Adam Brody is probably available again.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: herc watches the show, even without the Palladinos (you sitll with me, Excalibur?). And, while this season started off a little wonky, Rosenthal has turned it back into a great show. The Palladinos seriously screwed us with the 6th season (though I still loved it) by introducing April and by the whole Christopher fiasco, but Rosenthal has cleared it all up, and has returned to simple, funny stories. I'm tired of all the GG griping, and I hope they can do a final season to wrap everything up nicely. Who cares if the 8th season wouldn't have much conflict if Luke and Lorelai were together...it would be fun to see these characters in Stars Hollow (with all the supporting cast again) having a good time. So there.

but i think that would cause all sorts of odd tension in the lane/zack relationship. but she really was great with dave -- music geeks to the end. i also agree with brianroberts -- this season has cleared up all the weird things that surfaced last season, and the show is better for it.

...around the time Lorelei and Chris got together. I told her to let me know when Luke kicked Chris' ass and when Lorelei dumped Chris. She did, and now I'm watching again.

I actually hope they get Lorelei and Luke right up to the wedding day and then, at the altar, have Luke just suddenly snap to his senses and say: "Yeah..you know, I can't do this. It's not that I don't love you or anything. It's just that you're nuts and I'd have to be nuts to trust you with my nuts...you know?"

She deserves it. Stupid bitch.
