I know this may sound blashpmeous around here, but I remember when B% and DS9 came out at the same time and there was a little feud going on between the 2 shows well I cast my lot in with DS9 and found it to be a good run and a fun ride but later when B5 was on...TNT I think or TBS, I caught up with that show and wow, great show. I'm not saying it was better but a different type of show and one that I'm sorry I missed out on

He wasn't just in Crusade - he was in one of the movies (Call to Arms), so he was technically the link between the original series and Crusade to begin with.

See, and I was the opposite. I watched B5 religiously and loved it. I caught just bits and pieces of DS9 and felt like I really missed something. At some point I really need to check out the whole run, or at least when it heated up with the Dominion.

I hope this project turns out cool so that more B5 movies will be green lit.

geez, there was a time that I hated the Clone storyline then he comes in and does his whole power of the Spider shite. Whadda frakkin' mess. MARVEL, WTF? And, on Babylon, there was some jumpin' the shark at the end with the melancholy ending.
on that note anyone ever try to watch this?

WTF is wrong with you? First off, Galen was the coolest character on CRUSADE (or at least tied with Gideon) and second, any possible chance to tie up some of the loose ends left after the series was axed is definitely welcome.

But yeah, Stracyznski on AMAZING SPIDER-MAN has been a bit of a train wreck. Hang in there, though..."One More Day" is almost here and then he's done. Bring on Dan Slott and Phil Jimenez!

Two peas in a pod.. They seem similar to me in that they are both capable of greatness, and catastrophe. I Hope JMS can bring back the magic of the show, and not disappoint like many of the B5 movies did.

Galen's probably the best choice. Techno-mages are cool. Not pirates and ninjas cool, but still cool.

I think there were a lot of people like that in the sci-fi community who don't know what they were missing by a stupid little feud

the first couple of seasons of DS9 weren't GREAT(except for an AWESOME apperance by Vash and Q) but once they got into the multi-season story arc groove they really took off cumulating in the Dominion War...however I think they dragged it out just a little too long but over all it was a great ride, check it out if you can...Sci-Fi Channel or Spike is showing DS9 and ugh Voyager in the afternoon I know (the advantages of being unemployed but now that i'm back to being a working stiff eh) like around 11, 12 in the afternoon Central time, set the Tivo or VCR and start catching up

AGGGHHHH...I hate D-DVD origian movies that make no sense...Vern where are you, I need you to answer these burning questions for me

There Was Nothing to Galen

He was a cliche, all mysterious and inscrutable. He was Merlin without dimension. And I'm sorry, his acting left much to be desired. Nothing subtle, just wide-eyed mysterio expressions and the same boring British inflection all the time. I found him tiresome, not to mention pretentious, with an air of superiority. As for DS9, I watched both shows and loved them both. I'm thinking this new thing won't be very good, because everything JMS did after season 4 of B5 was not very good. I hope I'm wrong.

I've mentioned it on this site on occasion. One of the best films I saw last year. The sight of the Enterprise (OK, the Kickstart) leading the Russian Army to conquer the world in that newsreel ... well that was just surreal ...

The "movies" released so far are horrorific crap of the stinkiest sort. A couple were even worse than Battlefield Earth for pete's sake. I realize people need work, but can't Boxleitner et al, do sitcoms like the rest of Hollywood's also-rans?

...just a Richard O'Brien wannabe with all the depth of a thimble, masking a paper-thin character with the odd "enigmatic" line here and there. Creating a character purposefully intended to be "cool" or "mysterious" usually comes a cropper and an audience can see straight through this - except if they give the character a wacky name like Buckaroo Banzai...

The Technomages: or Why Galen has to return
by Kizeesh
Mar 10th, 2007

Galen is the link to things beyond the normal plane in B5, with Lorien, the Shadows, the Vorlons and all of the Old Ones gone, the Technomages are about the only race left who can help against the Drahk. Galen is the only Technomage character in B5 that has any form of established backstory. Without utilising this resource you'd have to spend half the DVD establishing a new character/race that the audience would care about.

Galen and Sheridan already have a rapport going since A Call to Arms and there isn't any reason that he wouldn't flit back to him when needed. The entire point about the Technomages was that they went where they wanted and did what they pleased.

More on Galen and the Technomages

Don't forget that the technomages were used as soldiers by the Shadows in the previous Shadow War and that when the Shadows were waking up, the technomages wanted no part of their new, cpcoming war, so they hightailed it out of the galaxy. (As seen in that early episode of B5). As would have been revealed in CRUSADE (had not TNT strangled this particular baby in its crib), the Technomages would have discovered that EarthGov was fiddling with adapting Shadow Tech and had sent Galen back to put a stop to it. That's why Galen was nearby enough to rescue Gideon after his old ship was attacked by that quasi-Shadow vessel. The ship was actually an EarthGov semi-sentient, half-Shadow-tech ship that had "escaped" from the blackops base where it had been created. Galen was created just to be some token "mysterious" character that dispenses duex ex machina information when the plot demands. And yes, I realize that "Galen and the Technomages" sounds like the name of some crappy late 70s metal band.

detroyed by WB about a year after Crusade went down. This is one of the reasons why LotR had primarily new models and stock footage, they no longer had the files. Apparently, WB figured B5 was dead and wanted the drive space and nobody thought to make backups. I wish they'd brought back Mojo for the CGI, NDE and Earls were never in the same league (at least Mojo kept the ships in scale except when they wanted looming Sharlins, believe it or not).

B5 rocked but the Rangers' weapons officer chick's kung fu pod was the lamest, most laughable piece of technology I have ever seen portrayed in sf history. Well maybe not Battlefield Earth lame but you get the drift.

If the show had gone to series, that would have been the first thing changed about the show. They didn't have the budget for the weapons console they originally intended, so they basicly improv'd that VR chamber thing as a temporary band aid.

ZATHRAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING NEW YORK CITY..LOL..Also the Technomages not only linked with Gideon..But also the one technomage..liked Vir koto..for being brave and direct..unlike londo who tried to trick him. With this one..I hope this will lead to a DVD series entitled "THE TELEPATH WAR"..just make em and we will watch...We all have our opinions of what we want..and I have met all the cast members of B5..even Richard and Andre before their passing to the rim..my fully signed 8x10 hangs from my wall. and also have met woodward, cole and (oh shoot me..mind block)dorina nafeel...all were great..my only regret I could not meet zathras before his passing...peace to all..."Expect me when you see me"

Read the Technomage novels for more details. Overall they really didn't know about the origins of their powers until late in the game. But Galen was a cool character. It had to be the tight leather outfit that sounded like the TARDIS every time he moved. Classic stuff. Oh, and AGREED about the last ep of B5 (Sleeping in Light) jumpin' the shark. Talk about your snot-nosed drivel...full on, man. And I made the mistake of saying I was disappointed with the ep over at JMSNews.com. Those idiots there have their heads so far up JMS' ass...it really got their sanitary napkins in a wad.
