If we can actually get it licensed over here, that is. What are the chances of that?
lol FLCL, yeah those awards sound weird.

I mean I love me FLCL, I'm one of those to complain when AS doesn't air the only 6 epsiodes in exsistance over and over and over again. But winning an award recently? That sounds odd. I think it be more believable if the award it won was " Best Anime Short Series OF ALL TIME ".
New Macross? As in... new-new?

We haven't even gotten Macross Zero released here... And what's this about the Negima manga... so he's taking a little haitus after finishing one arc? Also concerning the Anime awards... I watched it and yep, it was just cheesy... fun I guess, but cheesy... Personally, if I had any pull, finances and influence... I'd start an awards show specifically catering to animation, and not just anime but animation all over the world. Which will include films, TV shows, music videos, shorts, OVAs and even Game cinematics and graphics. Best overall film, best 3D film, best 2D film, best overall game, best graphics, best cinematics, best TV series, best still running TV series, best OVA, best score, best single, best animated music video, best voice actor/actress in film, best voice actor/actress in TV, whatever, you get the picture... I'd make it all prestigious and shit... and of course I'd be darned sure to show some solid clips that aren't just 5 secs long... And oh yes... it will only deal with animated stuff released over the past year... not anything before that... but maybe we'll make a nice little recognition film to kick off the first awards show. Now I'm off to bed to dream about this some more...

about the American Anime Awards was that there's an award for 'Best Theme'... Which has NOTHING to do with the actual American dubbing process. I mean, we all know 'Rewrite' is a great song. And I suppose as far as 'American' anime goes, it's the best one from any of the series dubbed already. Hope Death Note's first theme wins it next year. Not that it matters. o_O;

Speaking of Haruhi and awards, why no mention of the first annual Japanese Seiyuu Awards?

- Best Actor in a leading role: Jun Fukuyama as Lelouch, Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion

- Best Actress in a leading role: Romi Paku as Nana Osaki, NANA

- Best Actors in supporting roles: Akira Ishida as Athrun Zala, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny

Kouki Miyata as Kazumi Yoshinaga, Yoshinaga-san'chi no Gargoyle

- Best Actresses in supporting roles: Ami Koshimizu as Kallen Stadtfeld, Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion

Yuko Goto as Mikuru Asahina, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Best Rookie actors: Tetsuya Kakihara as Mikoto Yutaka, Princess Princess

Masakazu Moritaas as Ichigo Kurosaki, Bleach

Best Rookie actresses: Yui Kano as Momoko Kuzuryu, Sumomomo Momomo

Aya Hirano as Haruhi Suzumiya, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Best Musical Performance: Nana Mizuki, Justice to Believe

Best Personality: Masumi Asano, A&G Super Radio Show - Anispa!

GO MIKURU BEAM!! Ahh I love me some Haruhi. I would hope the dub doesn't suck BALLS, but I won't ever watch it anyway so I don't really care.

And nowhere in the past few weeks have you mentioned that Naruto is out of their EPICALLY long filler arc (ALMOST 100 EPISODES JESUS FUCK) and has finally continued with manga arcs. If I wasn't already going to DB for Bleach I might have never noticed that Shippudden was starting, and several of my otaku buddies that had given up were just as surprised when I told them.

And Bleach is just... just going nuts. Ikkaku's bankai... freakin' sweet.

Hey, can I write a column for AICN for JAPANESE anime news / talkback? I guess AICN probably doesn't have a huge otaku readership, but... Well, it's an idea.

God damn. Love me some Otomo. Haven't stopped loving him since I was a young punk in junior high. That's when Epic release Akira. Why hasn't a studio in Japan adapted Domu yet?

Love some rehashed mecha crap. Seriously. Clearly I am posting just to spark conversation with myself. Too bad there are not more anime freaks on the TBs.

is related to the old 70's series. I would've preferred a closer association. HeWhoCannotBeNamed, if you saw and remember the very last episode, please let me know what it was about. I watched that show religiously every week but missed the last ep. Re: Anime Awards. I didn't see them but I thought it was sort of weird. Lots of old titles in there and it doesn't seem to make any sense to give what are effectively dubbing awards (which I generally have a hard time liking). That'd be like the French and Germans giving out awards to the best voice over work for M.A.S.H. or Knight Rider. If they are going to have it, I agree with Johnno and think they should include works from other areas like games, shorts, etc. Re: Shippuuden. It's about time and so far it's been worth the wait. The manga appears to be starting down the road of telling the final story arc... though I can see it taking at least another 10-15 volumes before it ends.
New Macross?

I agree with my fellow posters, they are talking about another Macross, which is cool and all, but here in America, there have been no DVD releases of Macross 7, Macross Zero, or even the fantastic movie from 1984. There is an American company that is keeping all that from us because they can't figure out how to legally profit from it.
