Mark Steven Johnson probably didn't blow Harry, so The Big Red gives Ghost Rider a shitty review.

This guy probably gave Harry a blumpkin and allowed him to lay a big ol' Donkey Punch, so even though there's no footage Harry already gives it a great rating.

I don't think...

I was expecting a flaming-skull harry in honor of ghost rider, but since he mercilessly gutted that film, lets get something going for 300. Perhaps harry dressed as a spartan getting speared through his chest?

...Clearly the message (I take full credit) that we need some superhero-world stories, that Mystery Men and The Specials should not be mere flukes, is out there. This flick... Well it's generally a bad sign when a trailer is composed solely of individual shots and contains no in-film editing, and these (however neat they may seem out of context) don't really seem to hang together. Oh, and it is pretty obvious why you dig it Harry. Hey, same.

My 300 Review

No one here ever posts my reviews, so I am going to post it myself. I saw 300 in Westwood here in LA a few weeks back. I read the Frank Miller books, but was not massively in love with them they way Sin City caught me. When I saw Sin City, I was really disappointed, the same is true for 300. I cannot believe how much the movie sucked. Yes, 300 sucked! The problems I had was the same problems I had with Sin City. First, Graphic Novel dialouge doesn't translate to the screen. There are things that sound better in your head, as opposed to when they are spoken by others. Like Sin City, 300 suffers from this problem. But here, even the dialouge that is historicaly accurate like the arrows blocking out the sun, and fighting in shade sound absolutely cheesy when delivered by these actors. Instead of having confidence and sincerity behind the lines, they are delivered like a punch line from "The Last Action Hero." Think of the moment when Arnold says "I iced him, to cone a phrase." that is every line delivered in 300. It is a lesson in overacting, and B movie film making. I cringed every time someone had to speak. My next issue with 300 was the new disturbing trend that I blame on Robert Rodreiquez. An occasional scene in front a green screen is cool. An entire movie is distracting. There is such a thing as live action Anime, but it is not shooting in front of a green screen every single shot. I understand why Frank Miller felt that Sin City was as close as a movie could get to his vision, but his vision is a distinctly comic-visual one. After a while, you get tired of looking at skies and a semi-sepia overtone to each shot. You get tired of seeing rocks and scenery that are clearly unlike any rocks or scenery on earth. Which is bad for a movie set in Greece. Don't get me wrong, the shots look cool. They look very cool, but it is overload, and it is incredibly distracting from the story. Two of the previous reviews on AICN are 100% accurate. There is so much slow mo in the film you feel like you need to hit the fast forward button. The slow mo might actually not be all that bad, if 1) it weren't used so much, and 2) you didn't have metal music that sort of gets you hyped for action at normal speed. Finally, there is way too much dudity (dude nudity), The female nudity is outstanding, the male nudity just aint right. And since it outnumbers the femudity(?) So, what did I like about 300? I like that Frank Miller tried to get things historically accurate. He knows that Thermopolye was basically fought by 300 badasses in a canyon that the entire persian army had to go through. I like that the dialogue was accurate with respect to the famous quotes. And let me tell you, Lena Hadley will impress, in multiple ways. David Wenham, last seen in a decent movie, in Return of the King, also makes the most of his time here, which is easy to do since every other actor or actress seems to have gone to the William Shatner school for overacting. If you liked Sin City, this is a B-movie knock off of it, with a story that translates worse to the big screen. If you hated Sin City, thinking it was style and no substance, first, you were right, and second you will not like 300. Who will like 300? You really have to be hard core into Frank Miller, and want to see his stuff translated in any way possible to the big screen, to enjoy this. Personally, if you are wanting to see 300, I'd wait until it hits the $2 theatre or use Netflix, you'll thank me later.

some times foriegn movies just kind of make me feel ,you know, just ehh. Nothing special. I bet you a thousand dollars this is remade in english in no time. I can see it now , Ben Stiller or Jim Carrey has been writting the same comic for years but his heyday is over. Out of the dark night comes the hero played of course by The Rock, or Vin Diesel who has to warn him about the Supervillan(John Malcovich,Christopher Walken) who has come to reality to end the world as we know it. Modern guy has to become hero in order to save his dream girl (Camero Diaz,Drew Berrymore type) These things write themselves,or rewrite themselves, get it.....ha ha ha ha, lack of originality is so funny.

and that's not a stereotypical comment, as I think all of Del Toro's stuff has looked professional, even in the humble beginning. Same thing with Rodriguez.

Putting López in the same sentence with Del Toro is fucking blasphemous. And I just did it, DAMN! Seriously, this is an example of a fucking spoiled kid who makes movies out of other movies, and who hasn't had a point of view on anything. All he has are homages and references and a pretty bad notion of what's "cool". Fuck him, I say. Harry's love for the guy is pretty similar to his love for Eli Roth. Completely unjustified, that is.
