Sounds cool. Lets hope that shithole section of L.A. doesnt fuck it up. Does anyone remember The Dead Zone scene in which Christopher Walken said "If you could kill Hitler, would you?" This article reminded me of that. Im very interested in what this film has to say about the Church and right/wrong. Many extreme Catholics nowadaze have a really fucked up view of right and wrong. Some quote the bible when murdering abortion doctors saying they are doing God's will, totally ignoring the fact that vigilantism is completelu forbidden by the Bible, because God is the only true judge. The hate crimes that plague our newspaper covers are also mostly inspired by religion. Or at least thats what they defend their actions with: "It was God's Will!" I'm not saying at all that religion is bad--I think it promotes me good things--but I also think its about time that Hollywood had the balls to address some of these issues. Who is gonna ever make a film... let me start over... Who is ever going to FINANCE a film about the Church vs. Abortion? I'd pay to see it. It's a fucked up time were living in. I dont pretend to know which side is right, but I do know that their has been a dark side to Christianity for hundreds of years. I'd like to see a filmmaker expose it without bashing the good side of religion.

In George Carlin's latest HBO special he commented that we will have terriosm as long as we have Muslim extremists, christian extremists, Jewish extremists, and guys from Montanta...I felt like saying Amen Brother. L'Auter in regards to your post about a movie dealing with the church vs Abortion there's a book out, been out for a couple of years now I think it was published in 94 or 95 by Charles Colson about a pastor from Washington DC that runs a pro-life orgnazation that slowly turns into a anti-abortion terriost group before his eyes and how he is powerless to stop it and who the actions of others effected him. It's called Gideon's Torch and I don't know if it could be made into a movie but it was a powerful book

Catholic dogma also contains a corollary to "outside the Church, there is no salvation", of which the short version is: unbaptized people who mean well & try to do the right thing are "honorary members" of the Church and as such can be saved. Since Catholics believe that sin is something that you voluntarily do (a rape victim is not a sinner), people who do bad things and don't repent go to hell, be they Catholic or not. And no, Catholics don't always practice what they preach - do liberals? Or conservatives? Or Baptists or Trekkies? Re: Sin Eater, well I'd have to see it (or read the script) to figure out who'd find it offensive. It's based on a dark, pretentious comic book, which is to say that it's bound to be a crummy (in terms of quality) movie. Blech. I'd rather see Joel Schumacher remake Dracula with the Dawson's Creek cast (Joel, if you're reading this DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT)

I hope this film isn't as boring, as this guy writes.

The movie sounds very interesting, and I am not a big horror fan. I get the impression, (specifically because of the mention of not only killing Hitler, but of Hitler committing suicide, it seems to impy.. uh, I won't just blindly guess) that the plot will involve a lot of very grey areas that might lead to very intellegent moral questions as well as entertaining. I hope the final product is as promising as the discription. About the discussion though- specifically the 10 comandments, a little clarification- I read Hebrew; there is no "Though shalt not kill" (at least not in those 10)- The term used is "murder" ("retzakh"), self defence would obviously not be included. Bearing false witness is not just lying, and, political scandals aside, I don't think that many people have the opportunity. As for stealing, stepping a little out of literal translation, I have often seen that explained as kidnapping- not that stealing is not otherwise forbidden, but just plain stealing doesn't fit in with the severity infractions of the other commandments may incur. I also know a little Aramaic- does anybody know the term used in the movie? My trusty dictionary can translate... probably.
Boring - who, me? :-)

hey, you're welcome to your opinion Taxi Driver, but since there's been several long-winded posts at this forum you'd better be more specific about which one you found boring!

As a Spaniard, he is a European presence. OK, so he hasn't done anything of note recently, but he was muy Euro in Almodovar's films and was the only properly cast male vampire in the horrendous "Interview" flick. If he'd get a haircut and lose 40 pounds, he could pull this off.
Banderas properly cast?

Interesting that casting Banderas as a vampire who in the book is only about 15 years old or so, is considered the only "proper " casting in the movie
This flick became The Order.
