I want an Avatar teaser poster, and about 1,000 shares of stock in XYZ RGB right now! That's pretty amazing, I can't get over how thin the material is and how clear the 8 seconds of hologram is. I can see why Cameron was so blown away by this. Come on Cameron! Be the first to come out with a one sheet for this tech, there's got to be an Avatar teaser concept for this material that can be used.

Afraid not! I work for XYZimaging. These are film based posters that have 1280 frames of video imbedded into the film via coloured pulse lasers. We can put video or CG files into these "VIDEO POSTERS" They are NOT holograms...not in the traditional sense anyway. This is literally 8-12 seconds of video in a peice of plastic that's no thicker than a peice of paper. All you need is cool content and a light source.

Lenticular can only do 1 second and is very thick
by Kraken
Feb 12th, 2007
08:41:04 AM
This is around 1mm thin and can do 8 seconds without the "lenticular" blur effect. You guys don't know what you're talking about when you're calling this old technology. That's like looking at the computers today and comparing them to the computers of 1985 and saying "what... I had a computer back then" ... this is from the wiki on lenticular - "The combined effect can be used to show two or more different images simply by changing the angle one views the print from. If you use more images, taken in a sequence (30+), one can even show a short video of about one second. "

First off, those are awesome!!! I highly doubt the video even begins to do them justice, they'll kick you in the nuts when you see them in person. Second, thank you to MC Vamp. I too love the cynics, who say "Big deal, I had a rainbow colored hologram sticker of a unicorn on my Trapper Keeper, this is the same thing". Third, the Terminator endo-skeleton is absolutely tired, frickin everyone uses that damn thing. AAAAAANNNNNDDDDD finally, while I love this idea, I will not be happy when one of these things scares the duce out of me at 6:00am in a dimmly lit theatre hallway.

Posters are not paid for by the theatres, they are part of the films advertising budget, that's why if you read the fine print on any authentic poster (i.e. the ones in a theatre, not reproductions from allposters or Suncoast) they state that they are the peoperty of the studio blah blah blah. This also wouldn't raise film price because that is not how the business model for the industry works. The studios take a percentage of box office on top of a flat rate for the print, these posters would undoubtedly mean more box office, therefore more revenue so it's a cost/profit tradeoff situation. I'd expect to see them by summer.

This has nothing to do with the process for "Avatar". These posters are made from a DIGITAL 3D source, in other words CGI. There may be a scanning procees used in "Avatar" similar to what this company uses but that has nothing to do with the poster technology. Please don't bother to reply because A) it's past your bedtime. and B) your response would be pathetic and someone else will just rip you a new dirt chute.
Does anybody else but me fail to see that...

UnCapie is kidding. He made a typical cynical, hater/complainer response. Then, when he was unnecessarily corrected, he made a pompous yet dreadfully misinformed retort. I saw it as sarcasm from the very beginning.

http://www.xyzrgb.com/newslett er/holos/newsletter/newsletter .html They are great things but they sure ain't cheap! They are kinda like reflection holograms and require a specific kind of light source which is included. Something the size of the terminator would prob cost about 5000 bucks at the moment. They look stunning on the wall!
