Didn't someone find out the general plot of what it was going to be about? It sounded really bad, and almost like the 2nd one. I think it had something to do with Buzz getting recalled back to china or some crap and woody has to rescue him.

I hope they have extensive commentary on Cinderella III.

Whatever they throw out there is gold, regardless of plot regurgitation. First half of Cars was no good...

Fingers are crossed for that one. A classic original and an even better sequel? That's a hard run to keep going. With Cars being the first Pixar film I didn't rush out to see (still haven't seen it) and Ratatouille looking a bit on the generic side, I hope we aren't witnessing the slide of Pixar into bland Disney territory.
TS3? No need. I doubt it will live up to the 1st two.

I'd much rather they either gave us an Incredibles 2 or let Brad Bird develop another idea from scratch (aka not Ratatouille).

While Pixar has a really great record, I guess they are going to become like every other studio: A lot of average films, a few turkeys and even fewer classics.

Not saying that any of their upcomings films will suck, as I cannot predict the future like other TBers think they can. It's just these new projects are giving me the same feeling I got with Cars before its release. Indifference. And the outcome of that wasn't great for me.

Just because it's in 3D Doesn't mean it's going to be good. One thing Pixar understands is "The STORY is KING". The animation is secondary. Write good scripts for 2D animation and people will show up to the theatre. Or at least download it off of Bit Torrent.

I saw 'em both in the theater--and I was a guy in my 20s with no kids! Now I have kids, and they love 'em. But the story will have to be different this time, if they allow for the true passage of time (which means Andy would be a teenager now, and more interested in sushi taint than action figures)

Extras on The Ultimate Toy Box DVD set show ideas that would make a great conclusion to a trilogy. The kid finally discards his toys -such is the fate of all toys. But the toys get a new lease of life at the end by being donated to a nursery. That's the perfect way to end and complements the angst about the purpose of being a toy from the first two films. And, given the writer, it looks like it might be 2009's Little Miss Sunshine.

Does anyone else remember when Pixar took more than a year to release films? Does anyone else remember when Eisner's Disney started releasing one animated film per summer? I'm afraid that Pixar will suffer the same mediocre fate that the mid to late '90s Disney films did. Here's to hoping that Lasseter isn't just cranking 'em out. Also, anyone else hope that maybe Lasseter will get a Tim Burton stop motion animated film in there, somewhere?

When will we get Incredibles 2?!?

Feb 9th, 2007
11:05:08 AM
Yeah, sure, I'm excited and all that we'll be getting Toy Story 3 done right, but when will they bring us Incredibles 2?

My ideal plot points for I:2 would be for the Incredibles family facing off against another team of super-baddies. That seems like a pretty obvious thing to do for the main plot, but I think a freaking PERFECT sub-plot would be for Edna to have a counterpart (perhaps a former intern or assistant?) who makes costumes for the bad guys. Edna and her The Other would be having their own show-down with costumes and/or equipment they've designed. Whether it's face-to-face between them or watching their stuff being used by the heroes & villains wouldn't matter to me, but I think it would be fun to watch. Make it happen PIXAR!!

So what do you after you buck the trend and release a sequel that's better than the original? Release another sequel that's nowhere near as good as either of the first two, and spoils them by association. I thought Pixar was above crass commercialism but obviously not. If they're doing sequels, why not any of the others?

That one concept of TS3 had andy growing up and outgrowing the toys, and the toys going on an adventure to find new children and eventually end up in an orphanage where they would always have children to play with until the END OF TIME!! I kind of like that concept, to be honest.

Actually, why not go a step further, and have the evil family be the parents and little brother of Violet's crush Tony from Incredibles 1? A whole Romeo-and-Juliet thing, plus the redemption of the villain's children (and maybe the spouse) along the way. At the end, the Parrs and their "Counter-Parrs" form a new super-team, ala the JLA? Writes itself! At least good enough for like, a comic book sequel if not a big-screen effort...

...unless Bird jumps the timeline ahead several years, he's going to have to re-cast the kid who voiced Dash. And if he *does* set it ahead 5-10 years, Dash will be about 20, and Violet will 25, and both will be out of the house, which will kind of screw up the whole "Superhero Family" idea. As for TS3, the second film had such a perfect ending, a third installment will only tarnish the legacy of the first two, especially with no Slinky Dog.

Like a sequel to a comic book adventure movie is somehow in the same league as a sequel to Bambi or Cinderella. For fuck's sake, assholes, some stories are built to have sequels, but ones that end with "happily ever after" and were made 40+ years ago only to get a sequel now when apparently no one has anything better to make, are just desperate for money. At least Bambi 2 and Cinderella 3 looked good, what with drawn animation being so missed and all. I'm sorry that Pixar (and Lasseter) is getting a bum rap on the Internet lately. Now that they're "the man" and have had to fire people at Disney, they aren't so popular anymore. Jim Hill Media seems to hate them because they ate his children or something. I don't know if they've started to clear away any of the glut of middle managers that have ruined Disney Animation for so long, but I have heard of animators getting layed off or ousted--Chris Sanders being one of them--and it seems like people are all too ready to hate them for it. Also with Cars, it seems like Pixar has begun to misfire with some people in the audience, and perhaps that blood has lured out the sharks on the net as well. Personally I wasn't big for Cars, I liked A Bug's Life more, but they can't all be my favorites and after the Indcredibles and Finding Nemo and Toy Story 2 all being so great, I knew they were due for a let down. Even so I still felt something in the final race of the movie, so I guess I just like animation too much to be a hater on Lasseter.
