I think jaws must be the ultimate "they shouldn't have made a sequal to" film. I mean, the second instalment wasn't bad - it just wasn't needed! And doing a STV goonies or lost boys sequals would be REAL disrespectful to their amazing predecessors. This, my fellow film-lovers, is dreadful news!!

As long they can keep the same sense of lunacy from parts one and two, I would watch this - CGI or no. In fact, I think it would be pretty cool to see computer-fied Gremlins, as long as they put plenty of imagination into it.

I've got friends, none of them particularly well-endowed in the IQ department, who only need to see the number 2,3,4 etc in a film title for it to be reason enough to rent or buy it. These are the kind of guys who are connoisseurs of the worst kind of films, as they don't particularly care about performance, dialogue, style, mood, theme etc as long as there's an explosion or pair of jubblies on the screen every ten minutes.

That and Vern's reviews.

didn't leak enough warm briney urine over the legacy that was the original "Jaws." They might have something if IF Roy Scheider signs on, because he's the man. But the script would have to be good, and I'm guessing Roy won't sign on unless it is good.

What about Dreamscape 2? Look Who's Talking 5? Cannonball Run Strikes Back? Ghoulies 4? Remo Phillips 2? C'mon get your priorities in order.

Gremlins should only be put into production if its a prequel, also it should be bit more darker than the first, the second was bollocks. Goonies 2 the adventures of chunk and sloth, should have them adventure to meet Micheal jackson just so he can say to the others that he has meet him. Jaws was shit...

but I have no intentions of buying them. Lost Boys 2 without the coreys? without kiefer? thats even gayer than the first one. I used to always wonder (even as a kid) "why does he have a picture of a man on his wardrobe?" To be fair...this stv sounds better than schumachers "lost girls" idea. how shit would that have been? gremlins - I dont care about. Great example of a movie that has not aged well at all, and really isnt that good when watching it today. Funnily enough the sequel stands up a bit better...mainly due to its tongue in cheek approach. Gremlins, Goonies, etc.....the time for a sequel has waaayyyy passed. Spies Like Us was a great movie, and still is funny. As long a dan and chevy get a cameo, Im all for it.

Maybe since the frames are more like flipping than moving through a lens now we should start calling films "Flippies"?

There's probably a load of people who'd say lines to the extent of wishing that movies of today were like yesteryear (excluding DEEP BLUE SEA 2-that's just a unsurprised sequel). THAT shouldn't be conisdered to much with all the vanity of sequels and ripoff/non-original writing. Don't give me that franchise crap either. Those movies paid their dues back in the 20th century. For anything else, there's a likilihood of gossip to the amount of such movie will be LIKE some of the older stuff by small margin. *throws .02 into the 'help get harry into shape' can*

a dramatic device in which there are no others actors around accept the two principle leads. It works on tv better then in the movies. A very good example of this was the christmas day episode of Eastenders over 20 years which was seen by 30, million peoople. The Then owner of the queen vic pub was dirty den watts(leslie Grantham) and he was married to Angie(Anita dobson, wife of Brian May) their on screen marriage was very volatile and so on christmas day 1988 den and ange had the pub all to themselves, were she told den that ange told den she had cancer and that lead to Eastenders greatest and finest hour, when den discovered that his wife hand lied to him about having cancer. Those who live in the UK and who visit this site will know well what followed. Consumed by rage after his wife treachary. Den delivered his christmas day bombshell present to his wife. A letter from his solicitor seeking a divorce from his wife and the way he said Happy christmas, with all that rage, bile rising on the tip of his tongue. It Was eastenders best moment and will remain so.

Yeah, I've got Roadhouse 2 but I got given it in a double pack with the cheesy 80's mini-masterpiece that is the original. Gotta love a film about bar fights that manages to work in two huge explosions and a monster truck.I also deliberately bought a nifty slice of sci-fi action thriller called Retroactive, starring James Belushi, M. Emmet Walsh and Nancy Travis. It's easily the best straight-to-video/DVD action film I've seen. (If you're reading this Vern I'd like to know your thoughts on this).

or puppet Gremlins. NEVER! Dante MADE that series and no one could ever top it other than him. And by the way... WB... re-release Matinee. Its been out of print for YEARS. And while re-doing it... please put all of the MANT footage that the original laserdisc had!

What are they fucking thinking. That's like making indy 4 direct to dvd. Hell I even would like to see a new Jaws. With a good script, great cast, Williams back on the music, Spielberg producing, some cool director at the helm and great fucking special fx. That's priceless stuff. Stupid retards.

He felt the original movie was perfect, and that a sequel would just be a lame attempt to make more money off merchandising. It wasn't until the studio gave him full creative license and a "huge" budget that he agreed. He didn't want to just remake "Gremlins", so he went the more comedic route, with a little hint of societal responsibility tossed in for good measure. John Glover did an amazing job as the Donald Trump-like real estate mogul. If the DID do a Gremlins 3, I'd want him to be back, but with a horrid comb-over this time. He could toss a gremlin into the sunlight, point, and say "You're FIRED!" ;)

I just got Hudson hawk at Wal-Mart over Christmas for like 5 bucks and you know what it's not as horrid as I remember, in fact it's a lot of fun, really over the top and not at all what you're expecting but a lot of fun, espically the climatic battle with Danny Aiello firing a fricking rocket launcher

...The Search for Wolfman's Nards. You know it to be true! Btw, Gremlins on a Plane -would- actually be halfway decent for a DTV Gremlins movie. It would get props for recreating the infamous Twilight Zone episode. They could have Shatner cameo and say "There...is...gremlin...on...t he.. ..wing...of the plane!". Then he would turn to John Lithgow, whom would go to get the stewardess...who is a gremlin! Wacky hijinx ensue!

How could they!? This has to be false rumors...I sure hope so! Gremlins 3 without Dante and STV? Please...whoever says they're looking forward to this need their head examined. I don't mind CGI Gremlins as long as its on the big screen and Dante's involved (its not like they have to be 100% CGI...but it would eb cool seeing them much more physically active). Do whatever you want with Spies Like Us and Jaws 5 (yeah, like THAT has a chance of being good), but keep your filthy direct-to-dvd hands off Gremlins and Goonies. Money-grubbing Bastards.

Stop blaming Rocky Balboa for this! That movie was released IN THEATERS. It has nothing to do with this outrage. On top of that, it was a good movie. So can it!

Gremlins 2 was essentially a harmless novelty movie. Gremlins 3 coming to DVD is not an outrage...it's not the level of Back to the Future 4 coming to DVD or something....if it's a harmless funny, loud critter movie that gives us 1.5 hours of smiles, then what's the big deal? BRING ON GREMLINS 3!

I used to like it. but I dont like it anymore. It wont survive long without old misery guts Pauline fowler. By the way I know who killed her at christmas. It is not who you think it is. I just wish it would end along with Corrie. Primeval starts tonight on ITV. One other piece of news, John Simms is in talks to play the master on Dr. who. He said they offered me the part and I said Why not. Us tv is doing a version of life on Mars. Itll be crap.

A remake of Spies Like Us is not something the general public is not clamoring for. I've taken my own head count: there are three million completely pissed off people not wanting this remake. For real. Now if they somehow *could* rope Ryan Reynolds to star in it, then I take back everything I just typed.

It took place in Waterworld type of world where cities were half under water because of the melting polar ice caps and huge sharks romed the sunken streets. That sounded pretty cool and visually it would be awsome.

along time ago me and my friends used to have a list of movies that didnt require a sequel yet one was made anyway. we used to say we wished we could just wipe these movies out of our consciousness. a goonies 2 or a jaws 5 ( unless roy jumps on board) would most certaintly qualify for this list. here are some of the ones on that list just to give ya an idea where im heading with this Caddyshack 2 ( replacing rodney with jackie mason was just a bad movie overall) ghostbusters 2 ( seemed to me like bill murray kinda phones this one in) why dont they just leave the old movies alone. they werent that great than 9 with the exception of jaws) but why drudge up the past. its like dating a girl who was just like your old crappy ex gf, ya know the one you dumped cuz ya couldnt stand her. Theres no need to go there and they shouldnt go there with these movies either

Seriously, as an "innocence-to-experience" tale its nearly on par with E.T.! Think about it, this is a GREAT coming-of-age story about the encroaching darkness of adfulthood replacing the gentle whimsy of childhood. Remember Phoebe Cates' monologue about her father's horrible death...MOST IMPORTANT SCENE IN THE MOVIE! When offset with the loving relationship between Billy and HIS dad, that scene takes on a horrific resonance that is actually more disturbing than ANYTHING those Gremlins can come up with. Thats what the film is saying: that the Gremlins are simply the realization that there IS a dark side in this world, and that love and devotion can be corrupted into defeat, disappointment, and evil. So there it is...thematically, Gremlins is airtight and damn near perfect. And damnit, Gremlins 2 was a whole lot of fun...and a great corporate satire!!
