X MEN 4: THE BEGINNING
by Pound Sand
Feb 2nd, 2007
06:49:07 PM
This promises everything that X Men movies are known for.., overreliance on CGI, a "we're out of ideas," prequel premise, complete lack of continuity, comic book theme, too many characters, incomprehensible plot, half-baked villains, and dialogue about toads struck by lightning. Oh yeah, and no tit.

...Would be on Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy so they can join McGann, Eccleston and Tennant in "The Seven Doctors" for the 45th Anniversary next year. Yeah, the beeb would have to spring for lipo and wigs for the portly Baker boys but it would be incredibly awesome. Actually just bring back Tom Baker and Peter Davison to play of Eccleston and Tennant.

Since X3 ruined what X2 setup for the whole Phoenix plotline, it's a smart move to go back to the Weapon X plotline of X2, and hopefully salvage the franchise.

Brian Cox does, indeed, rock, as did Ian and Patrick and, well, pretty much everyone in the X-Men movies, but after the first two stellar films X-men three was sort of like a urinal cake with a big budget. I'm not looking forward to Wolverine, no matter what the cast. On a totally different Note, Say Harry, how long before we hear your most anticipated moves for 07?

If/when The Hobbit is made the ONLY actor they should even consider for the role of Thorin Oakenshield is Brian Cox - fact. Of course, he might not want to do it, but he'd be a fool (unless Uwe Boll or Ratner are at the helm).

If they get someone to make the movie that has some respect for the source material. I'd love to see the Wolverine mini by Claremont/ Miller given a silver screen treatment by Rodriguez. NOICE! But, alas, we'll probably get some half-assed weapon-X story by someone like Joel Shumacher. *groan*

FOX is hoping that a stand alone Wolverine flick is going to rake in over 200 million. Well they are worng. I'd give it 120 million domestically tops, maybe it'll even make it to 140 if it's really good. I love Wolverine, but he;s one of the less visually stunning characters in the X-verse.

Whoever wrote in has just completely misquoted him. He basically said said had no idea what was happening, and then pretty much joked about the whole cgi de-ageing thing: there was no suggestion that that was a serious possibility at all. But now, its a "story" on aicn, which will probably get picked up by other sites. And as Moto above said, first that ludicrous Indy story, now this. What the hell are you guys playing at?

Harry, you'd probably be viewed as less of a fool amongst the internet community if you worried less about filling your page up with "news" links and concentrated more on something with some weight behind it. Seriously, the misquoted off the cuff remark by an actor who isn't even privy to the status of a possible film is not news. Though I know I'm just wasting my breath, you've long proven that you're happy to muck about in the National Inquirer sludge of internet news reporting then actually putting some effort into making this a site worth reading more then once a month. Luckily you have Hercules and Quint, I try to stay away from any links if it's apparent you wrote them.

If Lucas ever made another trilogy (though he's made it very clear he never will) he'd probably make the entire cast fully CGI. He's proved that he's incapable of directing or writing actual human beings. Though why you'd want to see any more films from this glorified hack who took a possible story of love and betrayal and turned it into the chronicles of a petulant stalker is beyond me. Tell you what though, should he hire Peter Jackson to write and direct a 3rd trilogy I'll pay to see that.

If they're going back to Weapon X and before, I hope we get to see some action where Wolverine and Sabretooth are on the same side for a while (throw in North, Kane, maybe even Deadpool), or some of that mind-fuck stuff around Silver Fox, or berserker Wolvie killing everything in his path, whether they deserve it or not. I wouldn't even mind a nice 19th century flashback. Just as long as they don't do any of the stupid shit going on the current Origin comic.

i have a question, is the CG Deageing tool they used on X3,the same one used for Anthony Hopkins a few years back when he starred as a 20 plus years younger Hanibal Lector? i personally think its great whenever possible to use the actor who originated the role, if it looks like he really is the age he suppose to be portraying.
