Another buddy of mine was a HUGE OS fan. He absolutely refused to watch the new show and couldn't believe that I liked it. When he finally caved in and bought the first season/mini DVD, he said he and his roommate were so riveted, they didn't leave their couch for 3 days.

I've never seen "The Wire" and I've only seen two episodes of "Deadwood, so I can't really comment on those shows, but I never hesitate to include BSG on my list of 'most recommended' shows. My other favorite shows on television are "The Shield," "Six Feet Under, and the cutting edge science program "Nova," if that tells you anything.

Since they keep finger pointing at Baltar and Starbuck, I think it will not be them.

I still think the Hybrid is the one D'Anna apologized to. Her realization of the profound significance and meaning of the Hybrid as one of the Five combined with the manner in which she and most of the other cylons completely dismissed Hybrids as a "lower form" compelled her to ask for forgiveness. The "beautiful" thing she saw may well have been the universe as seen by a Hybrid (which has been referenced in earlier episodes).

If the Final Five are involved in events, manipulating and monitoring, what better way than to have a Hybrid on every basestar, linked in to the cylons every move, every ship sensor and database?

And, at a key moment to come, could not the Hybrids cease to be subservient, and take control, refuse commands, etc.?

The Final Five, if capable of triggering a nova, might then be very directly manipulating events on a cosmic scale, and Hybrids can bend space-time....

Nope, I'm with ChromeyDomey. It was the Hybrid, and what a piece of brilliance that is!

As you say, Leoben was (I think) the one mentioned as taking the Hybrid utterances as direct from God. So they planted that seed, then actively dismissed it with the other cylons. They have explicitly shown the Hybrid to be linked in to the Chosen One concept, and she spoke directly about the temple.

D'Anna's "Forgive me, I had no idea" is clearly an admission that she had been Wrong about something.

So I say the writers are misdirecting us toward more obvious candidates (that they themselves are making more obvious) and yet putting the elements in place to make the Hybrid Surprise legitimate. interesting that the hybrid was just introduced this season, don't you think?

RNL: Yes, sir! Even if I am Horribly Wrong about the Hybrid Surprise, a Hybrid Uprising could be really fun to watch!

The door is still open for almost anyone to discover that they are a cylon, since even the 7 (now down to 6) don't even know who they are, and since the writers deliberately "overlooked" the chance to smoke out any lurking cylons in the fleet with the harmless-to-humans virus.

I not only predict that the Hybrid is The One D'Anna Apologized To, but that when the time is right, it will be a Hybrid that releases all of the Threes from their Box.

IIRC, the Oracle told D'Anna (paraphrased), 'you'll find what you want, but then you'll lose everything.' I think we all took it to mean (or at least I did) that D'Anna would find Hera, but then the Cylons would lose New Caprica...mostly because that happened shortly afterwards. However, it's obvious that the Oracle was referring to the Eye of Jupiter and the Final Five. Really nice foreshadowing there.

Could it be that she does this in EXACTLY that order: Starbuck "Dies", to be Downloaded into the Final Five's Domain, thus learning the hardest way possible that she is a Cylon, and then discovers that she, along with the Final Five are ON Earth!

I think MNG's Idea that Starbuck fulfills all three criteria (dies, discovers she is a cylon, finds earth) is Perfect, and ending up amongst the Final Five on Earth could explain why she will be AWOL/MIA for the rest of the season.

Dee and/or Gaeta seem possible.

And with the Starbuck Trinity Theory and the Hybrid Theory, I would claim two of the final five will be known, though I don't expect the Hybrid Theory to be proven this season.

The reason it would matter, eventually, is because it would mean, among other things, that the cylons also had "moles" amongst them, influencing and manipulating them as they did to the humans. It might also mean that the hybrids will play more significant roles, possibly even taking control or at least refusing commands from the cylons.

It would be nifty symmetry, too: The Human Fleet was largely destroyed by the cylon's infiltration of all the command and control systems. How cool if the cylons have the same vulnerability via the hybrids?

Chrth--Yea, that one troubles me, too, some. I guess I can only reconcile it by taking it as Leoben frakin with Roslin before getting spaced.

There is an Out for all of the "can't be so and so because" things I mentioned above: since the Yet To Be Revealed Cylons are presumably all from the Final Five, they may not be constrained by the same rules as we have seen apply to the 7 skinjob cylons. So, they may be able to have children, either with humans or cylons, for example.

I like the Starbuck Trinity theory, but it could be that she only gets a Duality: She "dies" and finds herself on Earth because she is the Chosen One or something similar. She may not need to be a downloadable cylon to survive "death" in this situation. And that would leave room for someone else to discover that they are a cylon. I guess I would guess it is Dualla, in that case.

Hybrid as Holy Crap It Was Her In The Temple will not be determined either way until next season, I bet.

My money is firmly on Roslin. She has had more influence than anyone, even Adama, over what has transpired in the fleet. If not for Racetrack miscalculating a jump and finding New Caprica we would have been to Earth already.

It is worth noting that there was a cylon in her entourage at the very beginning, so the cylons may have been following "direction" to keep tabs on her without recognizing her significance.

Dualla makes sense to me only as a secondary choice, not my first bet. She is quiet, unassuming, but in a key role to know what is going on at all times, finger on the pulse sort of thing. Would make more sense if she were a fully self-aware cylon, not a sleeper.

IMHO there has to be more there. She is definitely an unknown quantity. Also, Cylons have too much “psychological depth” to have no basis for denying a vote/participation to the Hybrid. It’s likely that this Cylon-apartheid serves the dual purpose of keeping the Hybrid’s untapped power contained, while limiting her ability win over others.

I still say that Dualla is a Cylon. I can't shake that scene where she talked the old man into reconciling with Roslin. Adama had dismissed her and she was timid, but she kept on pushing him, getting him back on track to finding Earth. It just seemed so forced at the time. There have been other moments as well. Plus it would redeem this whole love triangle plot if done right. Granted, I'm sure D'Anna wasn't apologizing to Dualla, but there were five Cylons there.

Part of me thinks that D'Anna's reaction was to seeing a Cavil as one of the five. Yeah, his line is obviously not boxed. However she was disobeying him at the time, Baltar had just shot one for her, and he was the only one there when she was resurrected, possibly so that she wouldn't spill the beans to everyone else bout him. What if he were once boxed, yet found a way to unbox new copies of himself? The other cylons don't seem to know who the boxed models are in any case. A bit of a stretch perhaps, but I can't figure out who else she might have been apologizing to.

Why did they go through all the trouble to drug Baltar just to ask him about his complicity in the destruction of Caprica? He's just spent several months aboard a Cylon Basestar, can't they think of anything more relevant to interrogate him over? I mean seriously, the past is the past at this point, all that matters is survival. Roslin always mentions the blond Baltar was with, is she not even aware that she's the same blond Cylon model that she must have seen many times on New Caprica? Why not say she saw him with a six? Why not set them up in cells next to each other and monitor their conversations?

Also, they need to get over their whole holier than thou attitude with Baltar. He was fooled by a Cylon??? So was everyone else in the fleet at one time or another, and unlike many of the others, sex was clouding his judgment at the time. He signed a death warrant??? It was a rubber stamp that saved his life. If he hadn't signed, they still would have went through with the executions anyway. Given that fact, giving that resisting wouldn't have made any difference anyway, I'd say that most humans would have made the same choice in his shoes. His only real and unforgivable crime was in giving Pegasus Six a nuclear bomb. But no one knows of that (yet).

If she did see Tigh, then saying "I'm sorry" makes no sense since the eyeless, tortured copied is still alive and hasn't uploaded yet. Plus she wasn't personally responsible for that so why would she apologize on behalf of cylons to a cylon? By that logic, he should be apologizing to himself.

I doubt that Tigh is a Cylon since he keeps on screwing up. Friendship aside, screwing up that much would result in him losing his position (which he did and only got it back on a whim). He's a very bad mole if he is one.

I have no idea what Baltar might have said to Gaeta, but I think it's safe to say that he didn't call him out on being a Cylon. Up until the end, Baltar seemed intent on discovering who the final five are. If he knew Gaeta was one, he would have said the final four. If Gaeta is boxed, then who would Baltar have found out from.

I don't exactly recall how Tigh lost his eye (despite previously mentioning that D'Anna didn't do it, was bad assumption). But I'm gonna guess that Gaeta had something to do with it. That might explain his reaction to Baltar's whispering. Hell, maybe Ellen slept with him in exchange for another favor. Either way, he knows to fear Tigh so I think that's where that came from. Just a guess.

One subtle point about my version of the theory is that the Hybrid can be one of the final five, and not fulfill the advertised "one will learn they are a cylon" requirement. So it leaves the door open for, say, Gaeta or Starbuck, etc, to be the character who discovers that they are a cylon. In other words, The One That D'Anna Apologized To (I say Hybrid) does NOT need to be the same One Who Learns They Are A Cylon.

In fact, my Hybrid Theory would not make sense if the hybrids were to "learn" their status.

So, the neat part of this is that Hairy Nutsack's Starbuck Trinity Theory and my Hybrid Theory can both be true.

The only one we are assured (via the commercials) to learn this season is Who Learns They Are A Cylon. The Hybrid Theory, even if true, could be revealed much much later....

I realize the flaw in my logic is that the Cylons themselves do not know who the final five are, so would not realize that Cally is cylon, her baby significant.

Because the Cylons do not know who the final five are, it must follow that they cannot automatically recognize them as such, and so there is something (very?) different about them.

They may not be limited to any of the contraints we know (or think we know) apply to to currently recognized Cylon skinjobs.

What happens to the Hybrids when they die - like when the basestars were destroyed as in Exodus Part 2?

The answer to that question would be informative concerning the Hybrid Theory. Are they resurrected somewhere (if so, where?)or do Hybrids just die an electric death?

I would assume, simply because even the raiders are downloaded (ref: Scar), that a hybrid is also downloadable, as far as normal cylons are concerned.

If not, then it would open the door a little wider, possibly, for the Hybrid Theory. But I think the door is open wide enough either way: they have been spoonfeeding us some tidbits here and there, and showing us that, for example, the Hybrid knew that the Eye Of Jupiter Temple would allow the Chosen One to see the Final Five--something none of the cylons knew, and D'Anna only suspected, and doubted right up to the last.

So I think whatever the answer to your excellent question, the Hybrid Theory could still stand, with interesting depth to the Hybrid character added either way.

Many TBs ago, I took the first (we don't speak about them) and ran with it, proposing that the 5 were early models that, for whatever reason, were Boxed. It would seem, that if any/all of the 7 had been around and involved in the Boxing, their faces would be known. Cavill just Boxed D'Anna, with no indication that his or the others memories would be wiped of all knowledge of D'Anna (at least not yet).

Boxing itself is interesting: they seemed to have the gear ready, the process was known (and feared) by all 7, yet, with only 12 models, 5 unknown to them, can it be that boxing has never been done before--D'Anna was the first to actually be boxed? Or have they boxed only some of a line (as it seemed they might be threatening with Boomer), and D'Anna was the first whose Entire Line was boxed? I think that must be it....

It WILL be interesting if soon, someone like Baltar mentions D'Anna, and Six says "we don't speak of her" though....

It could be that these are the ones who found self boxing as a way of starting a new regime.

But seriously, arbitrarily deciding that someone is of little or no worth, and having them killed should *never* be considered a solution.

In the context of this show though, someone (or several people actually) need to seriously start having more babies, or they simply won't survive as a matter of attrition.
