I'm guessing she'll have just a small role. And what about linda Hamilton, doesn't she also need a major career boost? I would have mentioned Michael Biehn as well but at least he has "Grindhouse". :)

There's the older woman working with the Avatar program who basically trains Josh (his name was Josh in the script) how to work his Avatar. The script (like everyone here hasn't read it,) describes her as being older and not much to look at in her waking life but slender, sexy and fierce in the form of her Avatar. Or she may take a role that Jim re-wrote into the new drafts of the script. Cool with me either way. The cooler news for me would be seeing Cameron and Biehn re-team. I'll be wearing my BIG happy hat if that comes to pass.

Fake or not? SATURN 3 remake by Jim and Schwarzenegger?

After Mars Arnold Visits "Saturn"? James Cameron and Arnold Remake "Saturn 3"! Reported By: TheArnoldFans.com Saturday, January 13, 2007 James Cameron, Arnold friend and movie director, has just announced not only will he get back into the director chair for AVATAR but he is also considering Schwarzenegger for a new Sci-fi role a few years down the road! Several fans, including Shannon, wrote TheArnoldFans and informed us of a "Saturn 3" remake! Shannon writes: Hi Arnold Fans, Wasssssup!? Ypu probably already heard, but on KISS-FM with odm tonight they mentioned that Cameron - while tanking on about "Avatar" and how the script is apparently terrific - also has plans to produce a remake of the Kirk Douglas movie, "Saturn 3" and possibly have 'The Old Governator' (direct quote) play the robot.

That said, it'd be cool to see Henriksen and Paxton too, as neither has appeared in a good film, or had a really good film role in quite some time.

Don't get me wrong, he was alright in Cameron's movies, but he never really left me impressed. I've always preferred Bill Paxton, who I think is a better actor and is also much more amusing to watch. Hope Paxton gets a role in Avatar.

Man you really do have a thing for the man, i agree the man has some serious charisma, and as much as i loved ~the first~ Rocky..most of those Q@A's were pretty lame, i mean how come no one asked him about "Rhinestone" with Dolly Parton? i mean when i watched that movie as a kid i LOVED it, even now i have a soft spot for it, and think that it took some big Jabronies to make that flick. And him singing old macdonald...i think i still have the stain from where i peed myself. It takes talent to pull off such a bad roll like that and still come out unscathed. I will give you this...Copland was a great performance for Stallone, he needs more like those. He needs to let the "image" that is sly go, and take on riskier rolls, that he can let loose and bring in an oscar. Maybe something with controversy, or invest in an independent film. There is an australian movie that i own and am rather fond of called "Bad Boy Bubby" About a 40 something male who lives with his mother in a small apartment, and everytime she leaves the apartment she makes him sit in a chair at the table and tells him not to move or he will die, and then she puts on a gask mask when she leaves the apartment...because she says the "outside world is poisoned" and he stays in that seat ,goes to the washroom in the seat, because he is to scared to move. It is a hard movie to watch and is alittle fucked, but the acting is brilliant, and it is not as vomit inducing as the love scene in "alone in the dark" All in all Sly should take on something alittle out of his "image" realm

You liked what "bubby" did to his cat? I assume you meant that you were shocked by the potency and harshness of that scene, as to the fact that his mother had him so sheltered that he did not know right from wrong or had no real concept of death? because if you actually "liked" what he did to his cat i would have to respond with a " you scare me, and ...never talk to me again" but i will assume the first of the two =) because i am only slightly a bitch. But if you are actually a woman, then it would be okay either way, because women can do no wrong =P thats right yack or Vult if you "dudes" are reading this, you just keep your pickles in your pants because i am not attempting to find another woman on this site to hit on...i just figured i would clear that up now, i do know how witty you men can be, and am sure that would be the next statement from youse two monkeys....because you are original and predictable like that eh? =)

...yeah, I agree with you on that. One of the things that film websites like this should be actively doing far more of is spreading the word about films that don't have an advertising budget or star power to get the public eye. Sure, occasionally you get some reviews/news on the foreign or indie side of stuff, but usually it's only on the 'cool' name indies that aren't really all that indie when it comes right down to it, and which were always destined to garner some attention due to the people attached to them.

It's like every year that people complain that there were no good films made that year, what they usually mean is that they didn't see any good HOLLYWOOD films that year, but yet still didn't bother to expand their horizons to check out films that didn't cost multi-millions of dollars and have a big name world famous lead. There's a whole world of great cinema out there, but some of it you just have to look a little bit harder to find and experience, especially these days. So anything that helps with that is very welcome indeed.

I mean hell, we have columns for tv, comics, a largely useless games roundup, so why no indie spotlight? Something to get the word out about films that many people otherwise would never even hear of or know to look for. I understand that the big name films are going to continue to draw most attention, but there's plenty of room for all those other, oft neglected, corners of filmdom, it's just a shame more light isn't shined their way more often.

by Doc_Strange

I remember seeing it in the early 90's. It was pretty cool, good action, gratuitous nudity, gobs of blood, and some good cyber-punk elements, basically everything that one looks for in anime. Also, I believe the ninja character design was stolen by Rob Liefeld for use in one of his shitty comics. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. It just seemed very tragic and unfulfilling. I'm not aware if they ever made any more after that and I don't know how well it would translate to the big screen but I think Cameron's up to the task.

Where shall we have our light conversation? Because while the top talkbacks are based around Aliens, Spider-Man, POTC, and the gratuitous Optimus Nipples & Gotta Eat Flames (or was that a spoonerism I was thinking of?) I'm afraid this isn't a particularly conducive environment for talk on how "Bad Eggs" is a great Australian comedy that probably no one's heard of, or the affect "Russian Ark" had on me (I consider it one of the greatest European films ever made), let alone asking "how you going, and what's new in your life". Maybe in a different talkback - the Stargate one is pretty quiet ;)

Ripley: Well, someone's gonna have to go out there. Take a portable transmitter and patch in manually. Hudson: Oh yeah, sure! With those things running around? You can count me out. Hicks: Yeah I guess we can just count you out of everything, Hudson. Hudson: That's right, man. Bishop: [speaking under Hudson] I'll go. Hudson: Hey, why don't you go, man! Bishop: [more loudly] I'll go. Ripley: What? Bishop: I'll go. I mean, I'm the only one qualified to remote-pilot the ship anyway. Hudson: Yeah right, man, Bishop should go. Good idea! Bishop: Believe me, I'd prefer not to. I may be synthetic, but I'm not stupid.

Since we're veering off on a Paxton-related digression. Also, it was an Aliens reunion of sorts.

I saw The navigator over twenty years when it first came. Next year is its twentieth 20th anniversary. I remember going to see it wit my older brother in the now defunct lighthouse cinema and I was 14 years old when I saw that movie. There is no doubt that ward has great eye and I also saw map of the human heart, that was one of the most visually breathtaking films that I ever seen and the story was really moving, heartbreakingly sad and there is one other film he did that I saw that cant remember the name. He made some film in 2005 with Samantha Morton called the river queen. I also Baraka people of the rainforest and those film with unprouncable names.
the other ward film was

What dreams may come. Boring, pretentious, longwinded, dull yet this was a film with oustanding imagery. Map of the human human heart is wards masterpiece.

But the first time I saw it in the cinema, I nearly punched one of the cinema attendants in the face I was so mad about that film. Then I went back 3 years later and enjoyed the hell out of it. I think the reason for the madness was I thought Fincher had ruined the franchise, but I was biased as Aliens was the first 18 rated movie I ever saw. What an eye-opener!!!
Just curious, did anyone here visit Alien Experience...

I was visiting with my late mother. It was supposed to be really scary, the alien experience, we went to the trocedero and the alien experience was shut, due to either a fire or bomb threat. I cant remember.
Sir Guy...

...you need to read Frank Darabont's comments on that subject in the excellent SHAWSHANK screenplay book. During his comments in the book, Darabont takes great pains to emphasize in no uncertain terms (as did Stephen King in the original novella) that Rolston's character Bogs *was not* homosexual -- he was simply a goddamned rapist who turned to men when he couldn't get pussy in lockdown.

...Yeah, apologies if it came off as intense (wasn't trying to sound that way), but after checking the book again, I realize that I was directly (and subconsciously) quoting Darabont's actual verbiage -- he calls Bogs "a goddamned rapist" in the text...though the intent of both the screenwriter and the original author was still that Bogs was a straight man who turned to male-tail after getting deprived of little girls or whatever in the slam.
