Looks like this could be really fun, or just a lot like that Lugi haunted mansion game on the Nintendo GameCube. You run around zapping ghosts and only have one weapon available to you. Either way, I won't be playing it as I haven't any console sytems and my PC sucks. Still, it looks cool and makes me want to watch the movies again, even part 2.

Just a few weeks ago my friend and I were discussing how great an free roaming Ghostbusters game. I first thought GTA style, but that looks so fun. The first video at least. The others look either rough or fake, especially the sloppy driving clip and the digital Bill Murray saying recorded lines from Ghostbusters 2. But I love the idea and want to play it so bad. I used to have the original GB game on my Apple 2 GS. I played it over and over. I want to do the same with this.

The second video features a cover of Ghostbuster by long-disbanded Thrash band Xentrix from 1990. The final video has Bill Murray's line lifted straight from the first film's audio track. The sound effects for the Proton streams and the siren from Ecto-X are very off. These things combined tell me that this game is unfortunately a hoax.

As far as changing the ghostbusters logo, its not exactly sacred - they modified it for the sequel and the animated series - its something i can easily see them modifying to make it a bit more updated. That's my guess anyway. Some sort of mod based on HL2 engine. Maybe a pitch that never came to be. Some guy at Zootfly (which is an actual game company) posted some old shit. Also, if you search for HL2 trivia you will find that: "The Gluon Gun was nicknamed "The Egon" after the Ghostbusters Character Egon Spengler. The Gluon gun projects a plasma stream similar to the ones used by the Ghostbusters."

Now, don't get me wrong, a Ghostbusters video game is what I'm hoping and dreaming for. But not like this. These videos seem to capture absolutley none of the fun of Ghostbusters. With the exception of the "Sometimes Shit Happens and Who Ya Gonna Call?" clip, but that's another story. Also, why would you change the Ghostbusters insignia? Clearly, a Ghostbusters video game would be delightful, but I think it needs to be a mission based adventure that creates new missions, but also lets you play through your favorite parts of the movie. That'd be my vote. Because who WOULDN'T want to take on Mr. Stay Puft in all his marshmallowy glory?

I may have my wires crossed but I still have to stand by that. Is their site down for everyone else? I will say though, this is what the studios SHOULD be doing. If they HAVE to remake or re-image something or hell even make a sequel to an old series, do it in video game form. No one's doing to be as offended by a shitty Halloween game as they are by a shitty remake. I think it's safe to say we're not going to get a new Robocop movie, but i'd like to see a GOOD game passed off as a sequel. They made a shitty one a few years ago, hell there's even been a bunch of Die Hards and SEGA is bringing out two Alien games.

But a Stiller/Wilson/Vaughn Ghostbusters remake/reboot/sequel doesn't sound like a totally awful idea. Stiller would make a good Ray. Either Wilson (or even Vaughn) could probably do a version of Peter... I just can't decide which guy is Egon. Maybe Vaughn all nerded out? Eh.... ultimately, probably better left hypothetical.

This is very clever, and clearly developed with some love and attention, but Zootfly don't have the licence for Ghostbusters, which is why the GB sign is different. They have used the same engine Gears of War used and pretty much ripped that game. However, that's not to say that this game won't see the light of day. My bet is that Zoofly sooooo want to do this game and this is a neat way of generating some interest before the studio backs it and grants them a licence to continue the development. So I would say this is a bit of a showcase for the developer which could turn into a real opportunity to make a real Ghostbusters game.

This game if done right would be awesome. GB is my favorite movie of all time and sadly at the age of 26 my room is covered with posters and the new Neca toys along with some classic 80s toys. Ankroyd wanted to have GB3 based on a script he wrote where the GB'ers go to hell (literally) and fight Hades who is slowly trying to take over NYC. As we all know though it never got made and the project is in limbo. but i think the videogame should pick up the pieces and present the original GB3 idea as the game. Make it 1st or 3rd person kinda like socom or call of duty where u have to control 1 Gb and the ai is the other 3. you could have a choice of using the proton pack of the slime machine from GB2 depending on the mission. then the ai is responsible for the traps and other proton guns. thatd be sick. there could be a pke meter in the corner to alert u to the ghost levels. omg my wishlist could go on. however i do believe they should get the original cast members to do voices and ge their likeness' AND get the song obviously. ok im out

Even if it were a viral ad, there's no mention of developers or platform ANYWHERE. One of the main conditions set by the likes of Sony or Microsoft is that ad material needs to contain their respective logos. It's also usual practice for developers to append copyright notices. If it is real footage it's more than likely just a mock up running on a pc as opposed to console hardware. It's also going to be for some kind of shareholder/creative meeting which would explain the lack of Copyright info, Franchise logos and Developer logos. If that's the case, someone is going to lose their job and a shit load more. What i really can't get my head around is the fact that they are releasing a Ghostbusters game with no movie tie in, no cartoon, no other expansion to the existing franchise. Anyone in their late 20's onwards knows who the Ghostbusters are but kids don't; stuff like this is usually tied into something else.

I think writing styles have simply changed and the emphasis of what grabs you in writing has been placed elsewhere which is fine. There's some great stuff being written today. SIX FEET above her sheets... I freakin' love it. A lot of work went into that stuff, but it probably is some kind of current game modded like everyone's saying. And no hints as to who, when or where this is coming from. Odd. The GhostBuster logo is incorrect, but perhaps that is the "modern" version of it. This is killing me, I want to know more, how does this fit in, why are they driving a 2007 car, and look the same as they did in 1984... I'd rather see them grey haired and fat chasing ghosts out of barns in Kansas. The Chrysler "Ecto-mobile" is an interesting choice. They do sell the 300C as a wagon in europe. I suppose they call it an "estate" over there. But it's a real car none the less.... Say, who does your taxes?

I'm a bit conflicted about this. On one hand the itea of a cooperative squad based FPS set in the established Ghostbusters continuity has every opportunity to be cool. On the other hand I don't play cooperative squad based FPS games because people are obnoxious as hell in those games. The idea has merit, but watching Egon teabag a downed Winston is not what I want for this franchise.

Excitingly, we can confirm that yes(!) ZootFly has been working on a Ghostbusters game and the videos that appeared on YouTube are indeed 100% legitimate. However, the bad news is that the game is currently on hold. Bostjan Troha, CEO of ZootFly, told IGN UK: "We are very glad to see the overwhelming response to the Ghostbusters prototype movies. What you've seen is indeed in-game footage of early prototypes on the Xbox 360, running on ZootFly's proprietary engine. Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road. But everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP. "Not to lose the momentum, a part the ZootFly team is currently working on an original game called TimeO, which is closely related to Ghostbusters. The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it. As soon as the Ghostbusters IP issue is resolved, the whole team will go back to Ghostbusters."
