as much as I wish I didn't care, I signed my soul over to 24 after the first season and, despite the enourmous drop in quality since halfway through season 2, I've stuck by my man Jack for this long. I'm sticking it out to the bitter end at this point (as long as they kill off Chloe in the first 5 minutes this season)

I shudder to even imagine how just retardedly ignorant of even the smallest of logic the show will be in 2009. eeek. But seriously, are people THAT easily distracted by non-stop action to not be able to tell when you're watching incredibly stupid and silly characters and plot contrivances and twists that rail against any kind of reasonability at all?

apparently you CAN and DO combine two different catchphrases and personally I love it. it only adds fuel to the fire to people who think such posts are a big waste of time.

speaking of which, and of course I can't find the story or the posting now, but someone lost it over "Taint" and "Gotta Eat" and all the other non-movie related items people post in the talkbacks. they mentioned some fabled golden age where people only used the teebees for talking about movies. you know in six years of reading talkbacks I can't remember one post relating to a movie...

forgot the question of course

I'm not sure you could get away with saying "It's just fun escapism, nothing more or less", when for one thing you consider (and granted, not that I ever give a shit about awards shows and the like) it's given the Emmy for best drama, things like that. When so many critics hail it as incredibly high quality television, one of the best shows of likely the last decade. No, plenty of people out there are trying to vaunt it into being something much more serious and filled with genuine substance than to try and say it's simply escapist enjoyment. With all due respect ;)

caught a video on the hursnet site (a european fanboy blog) that interviewed Keifer last May. it was taken down immediately after, but i held onto the info and this is what he revealed about the story line (if it means anything): Jack decides to fake being sick to his parents (while his sister bitterly has to go to school). He then calls up his best friend Cameron and his best gal Sloan (he gets her out of school by pretending that her grandmother died). Then he hijacks Cameron's ferrari and goes on an all-out fun spree in Chicago, while outwitting both his principal and his jealous sister. It's a real gas, and not to be missed!

ressurrect the old movie serial format. No, Star Wars doesn't count. It was an homage to those, but it wasn't a real serial.
how about 24 one hour serial episodes, one debuting at theatres every or every other week. That way, it's as good as the show, and you get hardcore cussing, violence and nudity! Ticket price would have to be at least half of a regular movie though, or it'd get too expensive.

by SaluteYourShorts
Jan 9th, 2007
10:10:32 PM
It's just a rumor at this point, but they're saying President Palmer's ghost is going to be the central character in a sitcom version of "Ghost Dad". It will co-star Raven ("That's So Raven) as his daughter and Billy Crystal as Nathan the curious neighbor. Masteo, Jim Henson's last creation before his death, will be Palmer's love interest. Masteo is a monstrous creature that Jim Henson developed and locked away in a closet. Masteo is highly feminine and has the ability of flight when angered.

What can you say about the movie?

Only this: The writers have finished the screenplay. Right now, we're knee-deep in the middle of the season, so it's about being able to pull [exec producers] Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran off the show to prep the movie. So many things have to happen between now and May, when we would like to shoot the film. It's something we're certainly striving for.

We sure have been told. This is not a comedy site. Nor is this a site for sarcastic comments on the state of play of the industry we love, which is in decline both in originality and quality. No one should dare use humour to illustrate their dissatisfaction at the way the movie professionals continue to insult out intelligence with poor production, and style over substance film making. How dare we be cynical and use humour to express our concern over the lack of investment in quality writing talent, over the pandering of star egos and the huge payouts to said 'stars' which in turn means less money to those who actually make the movies good - the crew; lighting, sound, editors, costumes, set designers; animators; effects guys; stunt men and women. Pity us, because rather than run off essays on our opinions of the industry news, we chose to laugh at the foolishness of it all. Children are dying of starvation in Africa...Up to 100 people die per day in the Middle East...New Orleans is still getting a bum deal from the US government...and movie actors get $25 million a movie plus box office, directors work with $200 million movie budgets, and rappers who were drug dealers - drug dealers - get starring roles in movies about nothing...how dare we pretend to crack jokes about all of this and how dare we think we are comics....Damn you Aint It Cool News...Damn you talkbackers...and damn all of us for thinking this is a community of movie mates who talk, express opinion, and be plain silly just to bring smiles all around.

Waiting for Sunday night has become so much easier now that I have a PS3, so screw the movie. I was shopping for gifts at Target (delayed Christmas, long story) and there they were. The salesperson said they had came in that day. They had been placed at the bottom of the display case with no fanfare at all. Six PS3s on a slow Tuesday night at Target. I rarely shop there at all. It's like the stars aligned and the universe said,"L.H., you've had a rough go of it for the last few months. Here, have a PS3. Go on, you've got the cash." So now I can't get this smile off my face. If you have one, I highly recommend Resistance: Fall of Man. It's fucking amazing!

by Wayne6000
Jan 10th, 2007

It's probably (or partially) because Fox want to see how the Die Hard 4 film (which has a very similar protagonist and similar terrorist action scenario to the 24 show) fares commercially this year, as it's probably costing $US 150 mill. Also Kiefer doesn't want to do a rush job, where it's made in between seasons.

I don't want to see a 24 movie
by Tin Snoman
Jan 10th, 2007
06:58:57 AM
...because based on the logic of the title, I would have to spend a whole day at the theater. They don't have bacon at the theater. If I don't get bacon at least once every 24 hours, I'll die. Maybe that's the plot of the movie. Like Crank, but with Jack Bauer and bacon. But if they want to make a Jack Bauer movie they'll have to call it like "2" or something and have it take place in real time, because real time is the point of the show. But then who wants to walk up to the ticket window and say "Give me 2 tickets for 2," that sounds kinda dumb. I guess what I'm trying to say is that 24 makes the most sense as a TV show, so there's no real reason to make a movie out of it. But they're welcome to prove me wrong, I wouldn't mind that. As long as I get some bacon.

Seriously, stop shitting on 24 you crazed Lost fanatics. Sure sometimes there are lapses in logic and plot, but the pacing, excitement, acting and action make you forget them. Lost is like watching paint dry. The supposed cliffhanger for Season 3 Part 1 was fucking awful. There hasn't been a damn good episode that made me go wow since they kidnapped Baby Antwonne Fisher in the finale of Season 1. And even that season was hit or miss. Don't be mad that David Fury left Lost and went to 24 and then helped it have it's best season ever. You can call me a 24 "Stan" but fuck it, I love that show.

in this case. The show is so successful because of the current format its in. I don't think there is a need to change that so that it can go up on the big screen. Perhaps down the road when the show is off the air and you get someone else to be Jack or someone similar. Do it a la Mission Impossible, which I think movies I and III succeed at.
