The show consistantly pushes forward, advancing not only the story, but the characters in every episode. And every episode, with the exception of maybe ONE, has had a cliffhanger/shocker ending that had me on the edge of my seat until the following week. They set up a great first half story arc that was resolved well, and with style. I think that the first half of season one was just a warmup lap around the track before it really kicks it into high gear.

for people between ages 18-45 or it has been, so I think it can hold its own against 24. As for the show jumping the shark, no way, the show is pure fun. A few of the actors are subpar mainly the god awful British Indian dude, and his clearly NOT Indian father. Also the Split personality psycho is probably the weakest of the story lines, but the rest is gold, its like watching a comic books series. Hmmmm now if we could get a The Authority tv show.

but it hasn't been up against 24. you'll see those numbers dwindle and you'll see them dwindle fast. not only is it going up against 24, but 24 is going to have a day's head start. by the time the next episode of heroes is done airing, 24 will already have aired four episodes, which i hear are absolutely shocking, and therefore will definitely keep the audiences watching. suffice it to say, nbc is not doing its show justice.

At least, in terms of overall storyline progression, but that could be due to the smaller amount of flashback reliance. Oh, and David Tennant should be the Joker before Christopher Eccleston. Unlike Eccleston, he actually looks the part and has considerably more range.

While I generally agree with you, I think you are off with your suggestion of David Tennant as The Joker over Eccleston. Eccleston is much more gritty. Tennant would be too tempted to go over-the-top with the performance, and I also think Eccleston would have more credibility in actually going toe to toe with Bale's Batman. I'd rather have Tennant as The Riddler, but with a more nuanced take than what we've seen outside of the Timm/Dini animated series.

to me is soooo sloooow...as a devoted comic reader and obsessive lover of the superhero genre myself my friends are shocked that I'm just not into this show...it just feels like I've read this before(Rising Stars anyone?)...and I could do with about half the characters getting knocked off...but damn I loves me some Hiro...if only a few more of the characters were less bitchy-angsty and enjoyed there gifts....I've grown tired of the "poor me and this awful curse of power" personalities...both in comics and this snail of a show...this show is going on the bakcburner for awhile...24's going to kick so much ass....

Honest to God, I've never watched an episode of it. I didn't watch it the first season, and decided it was "too late" to get involved after that. Is it really worth it ? I pulled the same stunt with the Sopranos and then just broke down and bought every season on DVD last summer. I've been watching 3 - 6 episodes a week for the last three months and, let me tell you, that's the way to watch a show like that. Maybe I need to do the same thing with 24. No commercial interruptions, no three month Christmas breaks ... just non-stop stories.

It is ABSOLUTELY worth it. I missed 24 when it started and only decided to give it a shot about a year ago, when I rented season 1 from Netflix. I was totally hooked within ten minutes. DVD certainly reduces the withdrawal symptoms that cliffhangers can cause. Now that I'm caught up to season 6 I'll just have to twitch like a crack addict until the next Monday like everyone else...and then watch Heroes the next day in glorious streaming video BECAUSE THAT'S THE CHOICE WE'RE FORCED TO MAKE. Thanks, NBC!

Answer: Of course not! At this point you'll be left wondering why everyone rolls their eyes when Jack goes "off the reservation" and how every terrorist manages NOT to be an Islamic cook. You'll laugh when deadly nerve gas is held back by wall partitions yet magically can eat through seams on doors with timed precision. You'll crack up at how the CTU (the governments elite terrorist defense unit) can be so easily infiltrated season after season. Your head will spin as characters constantly change their morality in favor of plot twists. You'll giggle like a little school girl when noticing Jack's daughter is always in trouble. You'll get buzzed if you do a shot everytime Jack holds a gun to a suspects head and demands to know "WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR?!". Try Heroes, it hasn't had a chance to be repetitive...yet.

With his skeletal face and resonant, booming voice, Eccleston would have been far better cast as Ra's Al Ghul (think David Warner's version from the animated series). As for Tennant as the Joker, I think the character needs to go over-the-top a bit, just not as hammy as Jack Nicholson's performance. And without Russell T. Davies' campish scripts, Tennant is usually much more impressive. (See "The Girl in the Fireplace," "The Satan Pit," etc.) Oh, and EvilWizardGlick, everyone who's anyone obviously knows that all Brit actors worth suggesting come from DOCTOR WHO. If you haven't appeared on WHO, you might as well be a generic Imperial Officer with a British accent from the original STAR WARS. That, or you're Judi Dench.

24 airs once. Heroes repeats on Sci Fi Channel Friday night, and Monday night just before NBC airs a new episode. I've only got a single channel DVR so my Heroes night will have to move to Fridays. Unless of course NBC/UNIVERSAL starts making things even more difficult.

Heroes can't move to 8pm because that's kiddie hour. Sure Prison Break airs then, but that's Fox, they are outside of the big 3. I think I'll be DVRing 24 and watching Heroes since it's new. We know 24 won't get cancelled before May but if Hereos falls down then we'll lose it.

Breaking the glass, and letting him hold her in place while he did his monologue. She knew he would be even stronger with her power, so she shot herself in the head to prevent him from taking it.

The actor who plays Chandra Suresh IS from north India, specifically from Darjeeling. As for Mohinder Suresh, I think he's an integral part of the show, which is cool IMHO. He's most likely the Professor X type, which the Heroes adopt as their spiritual leader or something. In any case, I hope Heroes moves to a different timeslot. NBC should know better than to go up against 24, as 24 already has an established fanbase. Heroes is a great show IMHO, but it can't go up against 24 or there will be a significant drop in ratings.

Since I have an HD set, one show gets the star treatment, while the other one is pulled off my crappy apartment complex split-satellite cable. I was leaning towards watching Heroes, but after watching those first four episodes of 24 (which were mindblowingly awesome, quite possibly the best four episodes of the series ever in my opinion), I'm back to the toss up. Even so, Monday nights rule me with Prison Break, 24, and Heroes. I'm just hoping Heroes culminates in a battle royale fight against Sylar or some other villains to start a new threat next season.

Oh wait I forgot what site I was on (no sports references). I meant 24 is more over-rated than Heroes. There all better. Every season I watch 24 hoping that it'll be the season the writers get their shit together -and every year without fail I am dissapointed. Here's how it typically goes...You are initially lured in by the great trailer and the stellar first 10 episodes (tight writing and great plot twists included). Somewhere in the 11th or 12th episode comes the big first act reveal, a shocking twist (typically including the death of a major player), and the complete reinvention of the plot. You can stop watching at this point because what comes next is what I now refer to as "the rest of the season". Where nothing ties into what came before, the characters change 180 degrees from who they were or randomly disappear (Behrooz anyone), no one but Jack is capable of solving anything and there are suddenly tears in the fabric of time through which Jack jumps on occasion (so that he can conveniently make it from the Death Valley to Los Angeles in 30 minutes flat). Every season without fail follows this exact formula. But I'm still watching so hey it must be working... The best part is the writers admit that they don't plan past the first 12 episodes. After that they fly by the seat of their pants and shows. Boy does it show big time.

Just curious. With Heroes and 24, I'll have my serial drama fix from now on. With such a long hiatus I can definitely feel my interests being pulled elsewhere come February. Sorry Lost, only so many hours to watch TV! Love ya, but the plot is not moving forward enough to hold me any longer. (and discovery is NOT the same as moving the plot forward. That, my friends, is what killed the X-Files.) Everyone runs around looking for "answers" with no plot resolution. (I know Michael & Walt got to leave...or did they?) HEROES, on the other hand, moves forward even when it's doing flashbacks (thanks Hiro!), even if it is clunky at times. I'm lovin' it.

A)The will stop the nuke, Sylar will die and the heroes will accept their destiny and start fighting crime for a living. B)They will stop the nuke but discover something far worse behind it, and sylar escapes. C) They don't stop the nuke, and this show very quickly becomes a post-apocalyptic setting. Hell, maybe they are even to blame for it. That be a nice twist. Either way, the nuke plotline will be resolved by the end of this season, no question. I'm also betting sylar will be dealt with as well.

That doesn't make sense. If he could smash through why hadn't he have done that before when the claire's father was in there. And Claire's father told him his powers "wouldn't work here." And why couldn't Eden then control Sylar once they were in contact if both of their powers could work? And why'll we're at it how come the Haitian can erase minds? I thought his power was to block other people's powers, or is that what claire's father can do? That would explain why Sylar didn't get him but not why he didn't escape before or after he left. Can ANYBODY answer these questions. To all you Lost-haters, this show is just as bad so shut the hell up.

And my bad about the father of the Brit Indian dude, I really thought he wasnt Indian, but some North Indians do look quite apart from their brethren. And too the guy that doesnt like this show but compares it to Rising Stars. No Rising Stars is very, very different. I thought the first volume of Rising Stars was excellent, while the rest which followed took a severe nose dive in quality. Another critique of JMS's comics is the lack of humour in it. They are ofcourse very serious, but not all that dark, for instance Waren Ellis's comics are much darker and also have much more humour, he is the superior writer IMO. And to the guy that asked if 24 is good, well honestly too me its one of those shows where the quality is really dependent on the environment in which you watch it, and the mood you are in. I do think the first and 5th season were very addictive and fun, if you like action fare, 24 is the way to go as it is the grand-daddy of tv action shows.
