I haven't seen this film yet but it is on my shopping list in the near future. Is the haunting music from the trailers on the soundtrack? I really love that piece and it will always be in my mind whenever I think of this movie. I hope it is. I wish I would have seen this at the movies because if it is anything like United then I will watch it and be moved by it but ultimatly can't bring myself to watch it again. Now that is a sign of a very powerful movie.

The first :30 or so of the trailer uses the "Piano Theme" that is referenced several times in the interview. The rest of the music in the trailer (the rich melodramatic string writing) is not from this score. I'd say the majority of the music from WTC isn't quite as dramatic as in the trailer but it's cut from similar fabric. It may not live up to your affinity for the music in the trailer but it's still beautiful and definitely worth checking out.

I just re-watched the trailer on You Tube, I am sure I will fall in love with the music from the OST. But now my life mission is to track down the theme from the trailer. Soundtrack.net says it is from "The Life of David Gale". I really like these articles, I am glad there are people who share my love for film soundtracks. I really hope you can interview my favorite composers like Howard Shore, Michael Giacchino and especially Rachel Porter. My film soundtracks on CD greatly outnumber my DVD collection. There are just too many movies that I think sucked but had fantastic soundtracks, like Congo and Thin Red Line. (I know as a geek I am supposed to like Thin Red Line over Private Ryan but I always pass out while trying to watch it).

I've heard some interesting stories regarding working with Mr Luhrmann - in particular the way he likes to make changes to his films right up to their release date. Which usually means many re-scores. Must have been fun for Craig Armstrong. not :)
