Nobody remembers the comics other than the cheetos stuffing shut-ins who bought them. But millions of kids watched the "kiddy toon" and they are now adults. Its not always about pleasing the original fans, but more of rakeing in the $$$

This won't be too bad IMO but the dark R-rated Turtles ain't happening. Maybe if this does well enough to merit a sequel the second one WILL be darker. The first movies was pretty dark as well as being cheesy Turtles, that's how I see this one being. By the way, that last shot is Turtles movie geek motherfucking heaven. If anyone doubted this was the sequel to those movies then here's proof that it is.

At least TMNT is more faithful to the character designs and story than the Transformers. At least I can look at a picture of Splinter and his sons and be able to pick out which one is Leonardo and Which one is Rapheal. I can't do that with the Transformers. Even though I've seen the design sheets. Sure, I know which one is Optimus Prime, he's the one with the lame flames, but Devastator, Starscream, Jazz. They're in the trailer, but I can't tell which is which. They're all gray piles of moving junk, their Junkions. Shit, I'm really pleased to have a TMNT CG-Film. Am I a little miffed that it's not as adult as they said it would be? Sure. Am I also a little irked that they are not all wearing red headbands? You bet, but I've been okay with the multi colored headbands since I was ten. As long as they look and act like the Turtles and they don't reveal that Splinter is really the presumed dead Shredder's brother. Then I'm okay. This looks fun and envigorating to the TMNT line, of course I do also think the Turtle Van shouldn't have been as lame as it is going to be. If you don't know what I'm talking about google the toys. You'll see. It's a freakin' ice-cream truck and it looks dumb when compared to the other designs.

Anyway, I heard that the turtles had all gone out to find their places in the world and that when we come into this they are returning home. So I can totally see Don being all tied up with his science experiments and techno machinations leaving Mikey to "borrow" the van so that he can make a few extra bucks and then repainting it into some goofy looking contraption. I can see that... it fits with his character and I'll buy that. More than I'll buy Bumblebee only being able to talk through radio stations.

a good comedy show. It really is like night and day with the comic book, which had a more serious tone. Still the old tmnt cartoon was well written and funny comedy. I liked how self-aware it was. This is a strange conundrum for the people trying to deliver TMNT to an audience though since when the show started to become more like the comic book during the 10th season or so, it became shit. What's great about the first TMNT movie is that it respects the source material first and of course is influenced by the silly 80s cartoon. I have to say the new cartoon was excellent for the first 5 seasons and then too became shit with that fast forward nonsense, so history repeats itself.

Okay ladies, gentlemen, fanboys, and haters alike, this is my soapbox moment and I will to keep it somewhat short. Let me first start off by stating that I don’t read comics and everything I know about the history of TMNT (before the cartoon series) I have learned from other people and the internet. Same goes with the X-Men, Spider-man, Transformers, and just about every other comic-based franchise out there. I have seen the animated series based on these comics and I considered myself a fan back in the day. I never read any Fantastic Four books, but I saw the first movie and am eager for the next. I loved the Transformers, and I am geeked that we are finally getting a live-action movie being made. Ultimately, even though I would love to see a truly 100% transfer of a comic of cartoon to film version of any of these (or any other franchise) series come to pass, I know it just won’t happen. From what I can tell, Sin City was the closest so far, not just in terms of story and characters, but in appearance as well. True, there have been other films based on graphic novels that have stayed pretty faithful without ruining the original story too much, but American Splendor, Ghost World, and A History of Violence are not really super hero/fantasy stories. The fact is, a lot of these comics were changed in one way or another when they were made into cartoons or films (if not both) in order to appeal to a larger audience. A violent and dark series about the turtles wouldn’t have had anyplace to go back during 80s television. Today, we have networks like HBO who are willing to take a mature series like Spawn and put it on the air. But back in the days of big hair and jelly shoes, no broadcaster would dare putting a show based on a (what I assume could have been) a little known comic book about violent, talking, murderous, ninja turtles on the air. I have a feeling there just wouldn’t be a large enough fan base for that show to make any money at all. So, they tweaked the story, made it brighter and more appealing to all ages. And do you know what happened? It was huge! How many of you here can admit you were not a fan of TMNT when you were a kid? How many of you were not thrilled to see the 1st movie when it came out? A lot of you, I am guessing and I bet most of you were too young to even know there was a much darker version of the story out in comic form first, at the time the cartoon was released. When I was a kid, I doubt my parents would have been buying me the original TMNT comics, but they would have been okay with me watching the cartoon. That is why the productions studios have kept the mainstream image of the series so much lighter. More acceptance, equals more cash. Now, if I were one of you older fans, who knew and loved the comics and may or may not have been upset with the bastardization of the series, I too would love to see a film produced that reflected the original feel of the books. Just like I would love to see that 100% book to film transfer of any favorite comic of mine. It just isn’t going to happen. I can understand how changing things like Dr. Doom’s origins in the first FF movie or making Doc Oc a good guy suddenly at the end of Spider-man 2 could offend purists, those are major plot points and details that completely ruin it for fans like you. Casual viewers like myself may walk into a comic based film, like Daredevil, and be totally put off by the characters and story and wonder why anyone would make a film about such a dumb comic. But the “true believers” out there would be even more put off because they know the rule charm of these books and are hurt to see how poorly handled the heroes are treated by stupid movie executives. So complain all you want if a comic book movie changes the back story of a villain or something big like that. Just try to know that if a studio is going to make more money by going with the more popular and family friendly version of a series, rather than it’s darker and lesser known beginnings, they will do so. It sucks and I understand the complaints of you die hard fans. I feel your pain and while I think you are wasting your breath at this point, I get where you’re coming from. As for you nit-pickers who complain about flames on Optimus, Wolverine not wearing his yellow spandex, or Silver Surfer being too silver, get over it. Some details would look silly on the big screen and these small, non-story/plot-changing/threat ening issues are moot. Details like that are changed to make the characters look more realistic, updated, or even more vivid. I mean, he is the freakin’ SILVER surfer, of course he is going to be silver. Things like that don’t bother me at all. Except for the nipples on Batman, that was fucking gay.

yeah, it looks like this will actually be a sequel. there's the helmet and ooze cannister from TMNT2, and the time wand from 3. I wonder if that means Splinter will be a rat-turned-humanoid in this, rather than a human-turned-rat like in the comics. Anyway, I've only got a passing interest in the movie. I mean, it was what I grew up watching, so the kid part of me has a soft side for it. On the other hand, those really are some pretty bad CGI designs for the humans. I like the way they did the turtles, though. Oh and it might not have been a good idea to post virtually every other frame from the film on the web. That kinda ruins it a little.

Even before checking out the movie stills, I chuckled after I read the name "kino-govno.com." See, I'm not a Russian person, but I lived in St. Petersburg, Russia for two years not long ago. I had a fabulous time there living with two Russia friends and their always smiling mom. "Kino-govno" means "Shit-cinema," in both the literal and figurative sense. Right on. I wasn't remotely a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in the day. But after seeing these quality stills, I might actually check out this film. Looks pretty cool. Yet I have come to grips with the fact that the Archie version was much more popular. I would have preferred a Marvel Comics adaptation of Transformers too. Yet I understand that the cartoon version was much more popular. Hell, after 2007, maybe we'll get EITHER ONE of those versions adapted. Look on the bright side. At least ONE of the versions are going to be adapted with some semblance of respect for the source material. Hell, if you could take the horseblinders off for a moment, you may glimpse hope that this may be a collusion of sorts, adapting beats from both sources. At any rate, I can't see how some of you bitchounds still manage to find something to gripe about, given how Casey's facial structure appears to be geometrically mapped from Mr. Incredible himself. because like someone stated above, when i loved the turtles as a kid, i didnt know about the original comics and didnt until my teens...and while i love the original comics and even the short lived "Image" comics (which non of you bought appearantly becuz the canceled it, and thats why you wont get ur R rating...those comics were more hardcore than the originals)uh...where was i? oh yeah, so even tho i love the "darker" versions, i spent my childhood with the lighter stuff and i was a happy kid :) so if i want hardcore, ill bust out the comics but if i want to remember what it was like to be 5 years old again, ill watch this, and i know ill fucking love it

it's always the same old crap. for ages movie after movie came out and very few and far between were our chances to geek out over something. of course there was starwars and the original supes flicks and burton's batman, but ultimately very few things to geekout about. now there are a butt load of films that come out each year. and so now we are a bunch of spoiled whiner babies. when the original x-men movie came out, there wasn't too much whining. you know why? we were just excited about seeing the x-men on the big screen. we were anxious to let our heroes be shared with the rest of the world. (and you can say no one bitched about it cuz there was nothing to bitch about, but that is far from the truth. go watch that film again. it's not the manna from heaven we thought it was.) but the days of fanboys gladly accepting their heroes with open arms is long gone. now we scrutinize and dissect every piece of the movies we once would have accepted. now i'm not saying "let's buy into whatever shit hollywood throws our way". i'm saying we need to be more accepting and learn to appreciate what we get. i'm sorry the turtles don't look exactly the way you wanted. i'm sorry about the flames on optimus prime. i'm sorry about brett ratner directing X3. I'm sorry they CG'd the hulk and I'm sorry they didn't CG the thing. I'm sorry about superman's gay costume design, surfer's pupils, and all the bat-nipples you've had to suffer seeing. but in the end isn't it worth it? I agree with you about your statement on Frank Miller's role in influencing the creation of the TMNT. Eastman and Laird have even stated this themselves. If you read Miller's run on Daredevil and "Ronin" you can CLEARLY see the influence he had on the early TMNT comics.

I dig the look of it and I actually like the human designs. What, do you want Polar Express? The human designs fit with the look. I was a huge TMNT fan back in the 80s, had most of the toys, saw the movies, got the old series on DVD... I'm looking forward to this after seeing those screenshots. If someone from production is reading, keep up the great work. Personally, I don't want to see a "dark" turtles movie. If the Foot soldiers are robots, that'd make for some great action scenes. I wouldn't want to see blood. And fuck the red bandanas, they need seperate colors.

This film isn't based on any of the cartoons. It takes place after the first 4 movies (and also borrows some things from the original comic). The producer and director both claim that this will be the darkest turtle film yet and that it is aimed at fans of the comics and original films rather than kids. You guys really need to actually do your research before you all start getting all butt-hurt about something you don't know anything about. Also, Patrick Stewart providing the voice of the main villain is a huge plus in my book.

I am definitely NOT interested in this film. As many have already said, it just looks so half-assed-- Jimmy Neutron level or worse. After TMNT was brought to life brilliantly in live action by Jim Henson, this movie looks like one giant honking step BACKWARDS. I think this is a great way to go with the series, if you've noticed, comic to film adaptations are far more realistic then their former selves (ie. realistic transformers, no yellow spandex for wolverine little things to make the stories and characters seem more beleivable) its nice that they took something like 5ft Ninja Turtle and put it in a film genre where its alowed to be over the top, we can have big cartoon style over sized bad guys etc. and more freedom to show the craziness of the turtle that live action could never bring. I loved stuff like Incredibles and this is a great way to go with the series

As a fan of the Ninja Turtles since I was a little kid, and I still like 'em. Yeah, the cartoon was downgraded kiddie slop, but it was still amusing. The first movie was excellent and even loosely followed the storyline of the first comic book. I know that myself and the wife will go to see this on opening night. Maybe it'll suck, but dammit, it's got the TMNT in it, so I'll be there.
