I am SO happy for Sly. I visited the review site again today and saw so many glowing reviews for RB and it honestly brought a tear to my eye. As someone with big crazy dreams of my own I have always held a special place for the Rocky character and this movie is bringing that all back for me. I have a framed black and white Rocky poster on my wall(it's been there for many years) and at the top it says, "His whole life was a million-to-one shot." Whenever things get tough I glance at that poster and have a quick thought about the odds Sly has overcome to become what he has:the living embodiment of the American dream. I work days and nights but I have off Saturday and seeing RB is my top priority for that day. Here's hoping RB does boffo box office. Cheers Sly!

I remember reading an essay by Harlan Ellison once in which he complained about fans coming up to him, asking him questions, wanting autographs and photos. He thought that his onlyy responsibility to fans was to give them a new book, short story, or script every now and then and that was it. we should leave him alone after he has done us such a great favor. I have thought about that a lot over the years and somewhat agree. If a celebrity does not want to communicate with fans, then he ought to be left alone. ~~~All that said, i am pleased as punch when a celbrity does rach out to fans as Stallone has done. It shows that appreciation is a two way street and i hope there are more Stallones ot there than Ellisons. I loved ROCKY BALBOA and am glad it is on its way to being a big hit. Cheers to Mr. Stallone. He's one of the good guys.

I got to see Rocky Balboa last night in a SOLD OUT theater... and I must be totally honest... I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it. Where the hell did it all come from Sly? I'm so proud that you ended this character with the nobility and respect he deserves. You poured all that you had left in Rocky's world (and there was still so much to tell) into this film and it REALLY shows. I like the fact that you even made Dixon's character respectable and not a monster. It was the most human Rocky you've done. I loved the drama. There's something which seems to be lost in film nowadays. We've lost the ability to empathize and connect with characters in cinema today. It's very rare that we do. And with Rocky Balboa... It connected with me like a raging left-hook. I simply enjoyed everything: the restaurant, Marie, Duke, Paulie's character being the miserable bastard we all know and love, and the the cameo's (especially Rocky's old foe we see hanging out at the restaurant). I'm trying to be spoiler free here. :-) The film TRULY stands on its own. It felt like all of your previous efforts were prequels to this film, and I truly mean that. I am seeing this many times this weekend. Sly is getting plenty of my money. I usually see a film (once or a dozen times), d/l if it's available (for those gaps between the theatrical release and official release), then I buy the DVD when it comes out (usually some tricked-out edition). That way, no one loses profits for a great movie and no bootleggers profit off of others' works. And, yes - I will also buy whatever SUPER ROCKY box set gets released ultimately.

Just a request to fellow talkbackers. If you read all of Stallone's Q & A's then you know this was not an easy movie to get made. Especially after Rocky 5. But he fought to get it made, he won, and it's really good. I'm not going to get all preachy about downloading, but this flick deserves to make money. So if you do download the movie, and you like it. Go to the theater and buy a ticket. And if you don't want to see the movie again then give some kid on line the ticket as a random gift of kindness for the holidays. That way you get to double up on good karma.

I saw it yesterday and like I said, it was one of the most enjoyable times I have ever had. I know McWeiner said that BNAT didn't count because people were jazzed to be at a movie marathon, but you can't say about my showing. In my audience, you just had pure fans of the Rocky and we all cheered when the training montage started, clapped when Rocky started landing hits, you name it. And this was at 10:30 in the morning! The movie obviously stands on its own, but there's something about seeing it in that setting- you don't want to miss it.

As much as I'd love to see it, I don't think the magic of these Q&A sessions will ever be recaptured with another actor. This was a spontaneous event that (IIRC) caught Harry off-guard, and Stallone was the perfect class act at the right moment. While it's clearly been a PR event to draw attention to the film, it hasn't had the stink of Hollywood cynicism about it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I imagine more events like this will begin to feel manufactured. Saw the movie at the late show last night, and it was brilliant. As a husband and father who lost his family this last year, the theme of life getting away from you really moved me. The scene where Rocky breaks down in front of Paulie was a heartbreaking piece of cinema that will live forever, like Brando's "contender" scene from "On the Waterfront." I'm not ashamed to say that I love this character, and seeing him so vulnerable moved me to tears. Thank you, Mr. Stallone, for the Q&A, for the movie, and most of all for being such a relentless romantic who is willing to belief in big, goofy ideas that the post-modern world scoffs at. We need heroes, and you're one of 'em.

How in the world could these guys not expect Rocky Balboa to do great? They'd have to be either 9 years old or 90 years old to be so out of touch! Rocky Balboa has three decades of fans! It was possible that the film would merely do "okay", but it was never going to flop. NEVER. Everyone 18 years old to 60 years old and older are going nuts for Rocky Balboa. These financial film analysts need to leave their cubicle and going outside once in awhile. All they'll hear is "ROCKY!ROCKY!ROCKY!....". Talk about them being out of touch with the people!!

and that Sly already "pwned" me, but I just don't understand the love Stallone is getting for this film. Now I know how Star Wars fans have convinced themselves the prequels don't suck. They just see what they want to see. Because if you watch the film objectively it's pretty underwhelming. The giant ad of an ending is rushed and the (SPOILER) way Dixon gets respect at the end after is just laughable, especially considering how underdeveloped his character is. I mean he went from fighting nobodys to going 20 whatever rounds with a near 60 year old TO A DRAW and that legitimizes his title? Please. And the whole interplay with his son would have been good as a mirrored story of them both overcoming their demons but because we don't see the kid stick his middle finger in his cock bosses face (he just shows up and syas he's quit) it jus tfeels extraneous. Perhaps I just expected a little too much from Sly but it just missed the mark for me. I could see the movie being something truly special with an extended version but as it stands it's just kind of weak. But hey, if y'all love it, that's cool I guess.

Did you like, miss the movie? You seemed to have missed the point of everything. Here's a "Explanation for Dummies" that I have created for you. 1.)Dixon DID NOT want to fight Balboa. The point of the fight was not to legitimize the belt. Dixon's promoters saw that Rocky got his license and saw $$$$$$ in promoting a GIMMICK match. They had their own agenda....which was focused more on raising PPV buys than "getting respect" to Dixon. Where do they respect Dixon at the end of the fight? The camera is on Rocky the whole time. 2.) You fool. Why do you need an actual scene of Robert quitting his job?? And how do you know hos boss was a jerk? All you saw was the boss talking to Robert about being late....it could actually be either person's fault, cause the audience sees it out of context. Why is the Robert/Boss relationship so important to you that you need a additional scene of it? It would be completely out of place and out of line with the focus of the story, which was ROCKY AND HIS SON. The Robert/Boss relationship is meant to play only a minor supporting role to the REAL situations going on in the movie. 3.) Will you please stop spilling major spoilers in this Talkback? There are people who haven't seen it yet and it's very rude. 4.) You claimed the training montage was rushed and short. For some reason I actually believed you, but then I saw the movie and you tricked me....it is extended and FINE. There. capiche?

it's like an heart o' meter. if you have a heart, this movie can't help but tug at it. i notice how much the reviewer's who didn't like this just flat out miss the point of the movie. i mean... you gotta be one serious asshole to not like this movie. this movie is pure heart. if you have one, you will like it if not love it like most people do. and it's not the polish or the fight... it's the human need to pursue a dream. you can hear the hollowness in the reviewer's who don't get it. they just don't get it. and that's sad for them.

Hi Sly, I hope you don't have any women get assaulted in the upcoming Rambo movie. I have read descriptions saying a church group gets kidnapped by sadistic soldiers. I hope the soldiers don't sexually assault the women. That would ruin the movie for me having to see something like that. Maybe you can hint that eventually the soldiers will do something, but the women wind up getting saved before it actually happens. Also, virtually every person I have ever heard discuss Rambo, has always said that Rambo 2 was his or her favorite. Rambo 1 seemed a bit too dramatic, while Rambo 3 at times seemed either too slow (like the campfire scene) or had too much going on. Rambo 2 seemed a good balance between the two films. So, even though you have said you would like to make the upcoming Rambo more dramatic, I hope you try to keep Rambo 2 in mind at least somewhat. I think that is what the fans would really like to see. One last thing, your hair looked a little too long in Rambo 3 and the knife also looked a bit funny. I would stick with the earlier incarnations of those two things.

My friend and I saw it opening night and found a long line to get in. As I said then, "I bet this movie will make a lot more money than they expect." I watched the films growing up and this was a very nice send off for one of the great characters in film. Good work! I've actually seen a lot of good reviews, but some critics and studio execs are just cynical smartasses who always think a movie with some heart and some sentimentality is corny, schmaltzy, etc, etc. Once again, they're proven wrong.

Saw ROCKY BALBOA last night. For me, the movie demonstrated this: Rocky, the human being/man, is why the character is a champion and such an icon. One of the themes I love is how Rocky “widens the winners circle.” Politicians talk about it, but Rocky does it because he’s such an uplifting character. Loved his definition of a winner. IMHO what’s great about his way of winning is it takes along everyone who comes near him – his fans, Little Marie and her son, Paulie, Punchy, the boxing commission, and others in the movie...IMO the sportsmanship Rocky displayed is very notable - especially in light of both the recent brawl in the NBA and recent dirty political campaigns (how very timely).

these days it seems that very few films have "legs." Even the big films seem to make a ton of money early in their runs then fade quickly. It's not like the days when Jaws or Star Wars or ET seemed to play in theaters for a full year. I think this movie will buck the current trend due to the word of mouth - hpefully it'll be in theaters a lot longer than some of the other current releases and generate steady B.O.

Ill be seeing it again..this movie will obviously be a money maker because of DVD sales alone. I was in best buy and this 22 year old kid had like the whole Rocky series in his cart and was psyched as all hell to see the movie tomorrow night. It might not come in first place going up against a kids movie but for this movie to be recieved so well by a lot of critics and from this forum of people who normally can't wait to pounce on a bad movie I think its already a smashing success..I mean how many movies get as many sequels as this series did and IMHO the last one is almost as good as the first 2. Thats a miracle and you all know it.

For taking the time to not only answer the questions that were submitted, but also taking the time to actually read through the talk backs to see what was really on our minds as well. I didnt get to see RB today as planned. Instead I realized that my 15 year old son hadnt seen the the first Rocky film yet, so tonite was spent watching that on dvd. Watching that first movie now all these years later, I still cant understand how there can be those people that dont enjoy the character. I realize everyone has an opinion, but the tenacity that Rocky shows is something that most people wish they could posses at times. I recall you mentioning about how Rocky opens with him boxing under an image of Christ being appropriate because of his journey of atonement I believe you said. At the end of the film, everyone seems to be against him, the vegas odds makers, the announcers and even the promoter telling him that it doesnt matter that his trunks are shown wrong on the banner. He seems to be alone for the most part and has a measure of fear in that he knows he cant win and might be hurt badly, but he has a determination to do it and see it through with every fiber in his being. The surface similarity of those ideas/emotions to the events leading to the crucifixion where not lost on me whether intended or not. I am so looking forward to seeing this film tomorrow afternoon! Once again Sly, thank you not only for the rare treat here with the Q&A, but for creating such memorable characters on film that have provided many of us with untold hours of enjoyment. You've earned the respect of many geeks world wide. ;-) Always remember, the geeks will inherit the Earth. Now time to try and start thinking up a question for the Rambo Q&A!!

I have never seen a Rocky movie on the bigscreen before today, and just refreshed my memory by watching the original 3 nights ago. This was perfect, because many of the highlights of that film are referenced or even shown as Rock's memories. Seeing this with a crowd is the way to go, and even though my theater was only about half full (not bad for a 5:50 show on a thursday night in Vegas), you could feel the electricity in the room during certain moments. The opening credits, when Conti's score is first heard; the training montage, natch; the fight, natch, but specifically (small spoiler) when Rock takes a big lick late in the fight, and has a little pep-talk with himself by remembering his words to his son, then tells himself to "get up" (end spoiler), I wanted to stand up and start screaming for Rocky too. As has been mentioned, the final credits with fans running up the steps, imitating Rocky, is a great note to go out on.

Kudos to two late-movie, uh, well I guess only one is a cameo, and I won't spoil it for anyone, but it's pretty funny, and definitely adds to the sense of surreality. The other is a small role, that of Max Kellerman, played by himself, obviously. It was perfect because he got to give the everyman reaction, "The final moments before a ROCKY BALBOA fight, are you kidding me?" Hilarious.

this film (Rocky Balboa) should win Oscars even though it probably won't because they're rigged nowadays. Rocky Balboa is a return to form and is the sequel to Rocky I in my opinion. The only slight problem I had was there wasn't enough tension between Rocky and Mason Dixon, but that's understandable because why would there be? Mason Dixon isn't Apollo Creed, nor Mr T, nor Drago. A very nice capper to the series. It felt great to see Stallone as Rocky again, he really ends up the same lovable pug as he started. I really enjoyed the fact we get a chance to genuinely like Paulie and Stollone deserves a major honorable mention for the scene in the empty freezer. I LOVED the fact that after all the movies that had people helping him in the corner, shouting for him to get up, etc - we get to hear Rocky's inner monologue driving himself. My only criticism of the movie is that during the fights MTV-ish 'montage', it has a good definate rhythmn, and then loses it, and then comes back - it was rather muddled actually. But on the whole I give it a 8 outta ten as opposed to my 3.5 outta 10 for Rocky V. As usual, I hope yer still reading our talk-backs Sly. Thanks for all yer time you given us here and I look forward to your return. Until then I will probably just glance at this site anymore...it just...feels empty without having your posts to look forward to.

The music during the training sequesnce and the trumpet brought tears to my eyes. Also it was refreshing that Mari's sone wasn't a sterotypical gangbanger or a crackhead. I had ta laugh a little that when Dixon comes out, though Stepps is in Rocks corner, he digs Mason' music. Finally the hotel room scene with Maria had me so on edge - thank God it resolved properly. Was a tad disappointed that Rocky suggests the stories, I think his dignity could have been maintaned if a scene showing that his customers regularly request to hear them, before the meeting with Dixon's people. Also Benza's comment about Rocky in his prime was a rather ambiguous statement - couldn't tell who he was saying would win - Dixon or our hero. Finally, the way Rocky "exits" in the final scene is just fantastic!! Seems small probably to most but to me it was absolutely PERFECT.

I had not planned on seeing Rocky Balboa in theaters, but this Q&A has changed it all. You cannot fake the kind of honesty behind Sly; his enthusiasm for the movie is geniune and contagious...needless to say, I was quickly converted. I wasn't familiar with Stallone as such a thoughtful, witty, hilarious, and soulful human being, and was mightily impressed by how he poured his passion into this film. I realized this was not a cheap cash-in, but spirited, from-the-heart storytelling. I'm definitely going tomorrow, and have invited all of my friends to come along - it's going to be a blast to see Rocko back in the ring!!!

In this age of motion pictures, where all you need is a $10 script and $185 million of CGI effects, why will Rocky Balboa be such a breakout hit? Because Sly knows the one thing most movie studios have forgotten. It's not about special effects or the ego (i.e. "actor") du jour. It's all about pouring your heart into a good script and having a character people care about. James Cagney never needed CGI or millions of dollars in special effects......it was all done from the heart. Sly, you may yet rescue Hollywood from the bloated and pretentious monster it has become.....thanks for bringing a much needed breath of fresh air to these tired eyes. And I can't wait for your Poe film......not only are you a talented filmmaker, you're a down to Earth heckuva nice guy. Jimmy Cagney fought Warner Brothers to do quality films, and did it by forming his own company. You don't need some 20 year old executive to tell you what people want. I copied and pasted this from my reply to a rocky balboa review thread, but i wanted it to be in context here too: I know i might get ribbed for saying this! I live in the UK and I work with a guy who's mad on rocky, ask him virtually any question and he's there (on boxing too) - because he's not so good with using the internet i've been giving him the info on the new rocky movie (onwards from when they said they were making it a couple of years ago). I admitted to him though that i hadn't seen any of them, it was like telling a priest i'd never heard of religion. The day after he brought the dvd's in. Now on top of this i've been reading the sly stallone questions since round 01, at first i thought it was going to be a bit of a stunt; my own impression of stallone was that he was not terribly interesting or eloquent. I was really surprised, he comes across as a very well read and genuine person (i apologise for my original opinion of you sir should you read this), i even printed out on the work's printer the whole 20 odd rounds worth of questions for my workmate who treated them like the lost gospels when i handed them over. After working through those every day and seeing how everybody bigs up Rocky movies (apart from 5 i've noticed!) I've started watching one per night, working my way up to being ready for Balboa. I'm on for Rocky 3 tonight, i watched Rocky 1 two nights ago, Rocky 2 last night and i was really surprised because i loved them both. I was genuinely surprised with how funny and human the characters were, especially how likeable Rocky is, and the interaction between stallone and burgess (weird seeing the penguin training him though)! I watched them with my girlfriend (another person who was shocked i'd never seen them) and i admit that i had to fight back tears a bit at the end of the fight in rocky 2. I knew in my mind that he had to win, but i still found myself boxing the air (a bit!) and my heart was manic. I know this sounds stupid but i'm 23 and not many films can do that to me, and i'm far from a boxing fan. So my point is if you've not watched them yet (at least the first two) get them watched, i have and they're top, especially with a beer after a bad day, nothing better to cheer you up.

He's the local movie reviewer for the Austin American Statesman, and while he gave it a fairly decent review (3/5 stars), he said that Adrian died in a previous Rocky with a roman numeral attached to the title. What a joke this guy is. I remember he also said Armageddon was one of the best movies he'd ever seen, and he thought that the Truman Show was garbage.

I'm just making things up here but....I'd have to say it was an idea both of them had and it was Adrian that had the jacket in the basement for him to change into before going into the dining room. Only Adrian could have gotten him primed for the PR of telling his stories, that probably started with Adrian fighting it at first telling Rock to get outta the dining room until she observes that his stories are requested and he's part of the draw to Adrian's, and that's where the jacket came from. And I STILL say there should have been a scene showing his stories were requested so Rock's dignity is maintained for us the audience, when he makes the offer to Benza's crew.

Congradulations to Sly for his outstanding opening, and for the generally positive critical reviews; it seems the old lion still has a bit of a roar to be proud of, and rightfully so. 'Rocky Balboa' is a fitting coda to the legend of Rocky, and allows the audience the opportunity to see a graceful bow and give the man his long-overdue standing 'o'. Showing us sheer will, passion and determination can conquer all has been the backbone of the character and the creator, and Sly, you have done that in spades tis time. Good luck adventuring onto the second part of your storied career; I know somewhere in you there's an 'Untouchables' or 'Unforgiven' (or even a 'Medicine Man' or a "Space Cowboys')in you waiting to be found! And Harry, congradulations on once again showing the power of the Geek Nation. Us faceless masses can control a great deal influence when organized, and you have shown time and again you provide that organization. Let this 200 Questions show that, as a whole, when led by you, we can move mountains, make or break projects, and demand to be heard and recognized. and have to say my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Therater was about 1/4 full at a 2pm show. I asked the ticket person what's been hot and she said "Surprisingly, Rocky is doing the best." I loved this simple but powerful story. The time just flew by. *MINOR SPOILERS*I loved the line to Marie about "Why do you think you should be owned something before something good is offered to you? (paraphrasing, of course.) The boss wasn't a dick, he too just saw that Rocky's son wasn't doing all he could. No need to have a big "I quit" scene. The scene in the restaurant where Rocky asks if they want to hear a story? Of course he would ask them that. He didn't know them and they asked him to come over. I'm sure he was used to that request. The Montage? Just enough, We got the point (and man, Sly was in great shape.) No problems with the fight scene. Looked completely like the real thing. And again, the right length and completely believeable. Always leave the audience wanting more, and while I think this was an ideal closing chapter, man, I want more. And I do think that was Link and Cuff (they live 50 years or so.) Not to target a particular russian automatic weapon, but I seriously don't understand any major criticism of this fable. Being 49 as of yesterday, I could relate completely to Rocky's uneasiness with unfinished business, and the idea of trying once again to get back in the ring of life. I also can't imagine a life without my wife, and while I think Rocky may still visit Adrian everyday, the talks they have will be more uplifting. Especially when he is there with his son, or talking about Steps, or even when he introduces her to little Marie. EVERY STUDIO should have a requirement that for every $100 million CGI-fest a director wants to make, they should also have to make a simple $20 million dollar film. Mr. Stallone, THANK YOU for this. You have made a beautiful, touching, timeless picture.

I remember the original "Breathless" and my film school professor pointing out that before that film, if someone was coming into a room, there would be a shot of them opening the door, walking in, and closing it. After that, a hand on the doorknob was enough. The point being you do not have to explain everything. Audiences GET it. Father-Son friction? We get it. Back in the old neighborhood? We get it. Rocky being old but still powerful? We get it. Mason Dixon not getting respect until the end? We get it. RB could have easily been 20minutes longer and nothing would have enhanced the story.

I quite liked the fact that Rocky's stories were "offered" rather than "requested." It nicely and subtly highlighted the fact that these stories of past glory are all that he has left. The customers at the table seem to know all the beats of the story, as if they'd heard it a million times. Perhaps they used to request the stories, but now they're just humoring the old champ. Does this put a dent in Rocky's "dignity"? Not at all. It shows us that he's human. Like Paulie said, Rocky's "living life backwards." I thought it was a poignant touch.

Now thats an amigo movie i wanna see...You are so right about the state of boxing.Ali/Foreman, Leonard/Hearns/Duran, Tyson and anyone (although I remember one friend came overto watch Buster Douglass beat him in Japan...man was that surreal), there are no great fights anymore. I'd say almost 20 years. It just dosen't connect. I'm sure that's why he made it an 'exhibition fight." (btw, except for the second match in RIII, they all were "set-ups). Boxing is a lost art for the most part. Rock, I didn't see the stories as sad at all. I'd happily sit at a dinner table and recite CaddyShack lines with Bill Murray filling in the details. It was a great scene we take away differently. I got that Rocky would prefer not to tell them but he is the host and doing right for his guests. Sexy, I haven't seen Apcaalypto yet. But it just seems too compelling to pass up. It's good to hear old lions roaring again. I have a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, we aren't doomed to CGI for the rest of our lives.

I just got back from seeing "Rocky Balboa"...and I don't have words big enough to descirbe how "Rocky Balboa" made me feel. Mr. Stallone made me believe as I did when I was a kid in something beautiful. "Rocky Balboa" was beautiful, and Mr. Stallone's performance was beautiful. I have never seen anything with as much heart, sensitivity and downright decency as I did when watching Mr. Stallone in "Rocky Balboa." He should...no must...be nominated for an Academy Award. Not bad at all especially going up against that Museum flick and also it being the 6th movie of a series that had a terrible 5th movie. Bravo to Sly , lets hope it ends up with 15 million or so for the weekend. The whole movies production budget should be covered by next weekend. for this weekend, which is the entire budget for the movie. Not bad. The moviegoing public is so stupid though, i'm almost embarrassed for them. I have a friend who I consider a great litmus test for everything "average"- that is, he reflects the prevailing attitude of the public at any given moment. I asked him if he would see Rocky and he said "I don't know", leaning towards "not". After all, stupid movies like "Night at the Museum" are out so who knows if there will be time? Ugh. Anyway, it took some convincing but he said he will see it. The moral of the story? SPREAD THE WORD! Tell anyone you know that this is a good movie because I think people want that validation before going.

Box Office Mojo has Happyness at 5.3 and Rocky at 5, and those are estimates so that's a dead heat. I knew the child types would be a problem. I actually thought of a movie like that about that place but instead of being cute it'd be a horror movie about the workers getting possessed by the deceased Native Americans they've got in there. Oh well. We'll see how the box office comes out on Tuesday. I think Monday could be a decent day for us. Happyness is a good movie though, not Rocky Balboa good, but good enough. So it wouldn't be insulting if that came out slightly ahead.

Henry Sheehan gave away the story and ending of ROCKY BALBOA yesterday on FILM WEEK, KPCC fm 89.3 Los Angeles. Not only did this disappoint me, but it hurts people like me who work in the film industry. When the ending/story is given away, fewer people attend the film and it hurts the profits, meaning the studios can't afford to hire all the average folks who work on films (from technicians to script readers and costumers, etc). Stallone will be fine!!!

The only thing I was disappointed about was that Duke really only has one speaking line in the entire movie, and that's what we all see in the trailer. The movie isn't about Duke but I would love to see what he was up to. Also, I was surprised at how old he looked. Was that intentional or has he really aged?

Yeah that's why they didn't grant him the license- because even though he passed the tests, they thought it was irresponsible to send him out there to possibly get killed. They didn't say this but I was thinking during the movie that they probably were fighting in Las Vegas to get around the Pennsylvania boxing commission. I assume the Nevada boxing commission was more lenient? Also, you will have plenty of opportunities to ask him when he comes back for RAMBO. How cool is that?

It was supposed to be an exhibition match to take advantage of the interest in the computer fight. They would have wanted to hold it soon after the broadcast. As well, I'm sure he would have sparred daily as part of his workouts. We didn't need to be shown every detail of his day.

I have been trying to get some friends to go see Balboa with me. They all share the same thoughts: "Rocky's old" "Rocky sucked after 2" "Stallone is washed up" and the like. My only real comeback is, "Its fuckin' Rocky, guys." So far, even that isn't good enough. Sly has a lot riding on this movie.. This is probabably the movie that will either make people take his movies seriously again, or wonder why there is a rocky six. The 20 rounds with sly were the best reading I'd had on AICN in a long time. They actually got me excited to see Balboa, whereas before I was in the "A rocky six? ha" camp. Sly definitely earned a lot of fans with his talkbacks, and at least one more ticket to his latest effort. Mine.

I hesitated to ask Sly my question... until after the movie is out, and I am glad I waited... my question to Sly is: When he was writing it, did he cry when he was writing the scenes. I cried thinking if -God Forbidden anytime soon- my wife passed away, I would most likely be broken up as much, if not more, as it showed on screen... I can't imagine writing the scenes without shedding a tear...

That sounds snotty but I don't know people who would really be embarassed to see a movie. I only know people who are too lazy to go to the theater. Short of drugging and kidnapping them I don't think I can get them to go. I've already tried begging. But in the last few days I've been working the movie into whatever conversations I've had. I tried to convince the page at the library yesterday. LOL. And just from being on other movie message boards, I think it's catching on. Also, I was watching FOX News this morning and they were calling the stocks that they think will make a comeback 'Rocky stocks'. And the reporter chick was doing the 'Gonna Fly Now' noises we all do. So I'm thinking it'll be the cool movie to go see soon. I still don't understand the lack of old folks when I went because I go early and I'm usually the only one without grey hair. Has there been any advertising on TCM? I guess I can head over to their boards. I'll keep plugging it wherever I can think of but we've got to work on Oscar buzz, imo. Make quotes from the movie your sigs on other boards and avatars and all that stuff.

Oh my gosh, I literally just got back from my second viewing and I was about to make a post about the great reception it got when I read that Mr. Stallone had responded to one of my comments. Thank you so much for reading and everyone else, SPREAD THE WORD! On those message boards I was going to, I literally saw half a dozen posters (that have nothing to do with aintitcool.com) trying to convince othersto give the movie a chance. I honestly have never seen something like this before, and I think part of it is because there is such a reverence to the character. Rocky Balboa is a cultural icon, and I think one of the problems this movie has to overcome is the fear that it just MIGHT dishonor the him in some way. Let's help set the record straight that this is one of the most wonderful movies of the year. SPREAD THE WORD!

It's beautiful and spare. Feels like it could have been made in the 70's (and that's a great thing). The way Stallone films it is amazing. Nothing is rushed and we don't just get a stream of bland close-ups. This carries over into the fabulous fight scenes. The camera is held back, like a director who knows how to shoot dancing, we are allowed to see the full bodies from head-to-toe. Stallone casts the film perfectly. I love the female lead, and Balboa Junior...Paulie was, as always, great. This film is a throwback, and I hope to see it at least once more befor the year's end.

And my friends and I represent the late teens-mid twenties demographic. Both times I watched it in the theater, it was this demographic that went nuts in cheers as the scrolling text started the movie off. When I bought the Rocky Special Edition DVD at Best Buy, the cashier (in his teens) picked up the DVD and was loudly said "AW YEEEEAH! I am THERE for the new MOVIE!", pointing at the DVD as he said it, loud and proud. Most people I talked to didn't know it was coming out on the 20th though. They thought it was coming "Christmas". I can't really imagine which demographic would be "embarassed" to watch Rocky. Moms and dads don't care about that embarassment stuff, and everyone I talked to doesnt care either. They either want to see it or they dont....nothing about being cool or uncool seeing it. Maybe its' because I live in the East Coast close to the city, and we just don't give a crap what people think to begin with haha. Maybe there are indeed bashful people out there who are actually embarassed at which movies they watch. (shrug)

I was kind of typing in a stream of consciousness on my last message and I had never really thought of it before but I think it's true: Rocky is such a revered character that I think people are worried that somehow this movie will tarnish him in some way. Does that make sense? I mean after all, the premise is that a 50 year old Balboa comes out of retirement to fight the heavyweight champion of the world, which may leave some people skeptical. It's kind of like seeing a film about Abraham Lincoln where he is riding go carts or something. You don't wanna see your heroes in an undignified situation. And one more thing- I gotta tell you, everyone cheered and clapped when the training montage kicked in, and I heard several people saying "man Rocky shoulda won that fight!" when we were walking out. This movie is really moving people.

I went to several different sites that have nothing to do with movies, like a Dallas Cowboys forum, and this is a quote from one of the people there: "A 'B'?? wow, thought for sure everyone was going to give it an "F". Now I won't be so embarressed when I see it". That started a whole discussion about how they thought it would suck and others would say "no it's really very good". The truth is, I don't even think it NEEDS a word of mouth campaign because people are raving about it on their own. Oh yeah and Yackbacker- I went to the 10:05 showing at the Alamo Drafthouse in suburban Austin, and it was unfortunately not TOO crowded. I would say about 25% full. But I got the impression that they were first time viewers and there was a lot of talking after the show. Then I come home and find a shout out from the man himself, and it was pretty much a perfect night.

There's a ton of people who want to see this movie who are more than happy to go after they hear how good it is. Everybody loves Rocky. Sly is right, good word of mouth is going to be what keeps this movie going strong and steady. Right now it's a great opening weekend. This is going to do what 007 and BB did and make it on great word of mouth. Maybe there's a ton of movies to go see this holiday season and not all of them can be seen at once... and half the country is having horrible weather... but this movie is clicking with audiences and I think everyone will watch it eventually. Doesn't have to be a 50 million weekend. It's a grown up movie, growns ups take their time especially around crowds. But... what movie are the grown ups going to go watch on Christmas day and week when they are together with the family? Rocky Balboa.

I'm 37 and have never had a wife and feel the same kind of empty, aching hole as Rocky has without Adrian. I don't wish for Rock to be alone, just as I don't wish to be, but that space can't be filled by another. It has to heal first and Rocky be whole again before another person could even be considered being accepted into his life. Thank you for showing us we could like Paulie a little more than ever and for !!WOW!! - yer best acting since Copland in the empty locker scene grieving over Adrian. And thank you for making Stepps a good kid, rather than a troubled crackhead or gangbanger - quite refreshing. And the inner monologue of Rocky driving himself for the first time rather than someone in his corner - awesome. And sorry for caring so much for Rock's dignity in my previous posts - guess I was picked on too much as a kid. Yeah I've said this all before but darnit, I wanna make sure ya read it. After seeing the 'blink and ya miss it' usage of Clubber and Drago, it just shows even more what an unbelievably greedy turd Apollo or their agent or Carl Weathers is. Harry, Give Sly his black box!! Its soo cool that sly is still reading, everyones comments on here. On my tour at the chinese theatre, whenever i tell people now about last wed the 13ths World Premiere for ROCKY BALBOA we hosted, there is quite a bit of intrest from the tourists, especially when they hear how great the film is. Ive seen quite a few of them go upstairs after the tour to our sister theatre the chinese 6 and buy tickets for the movie, for the next showtime or latter in the evening. i just wish we were showing it on the big screen for its regular engagement, cause let me tell you it was a sight to behold seeing it on that screen at the premiere. but still it looks very impressive in 2k DLP upstairs in the chinese 6 though. And i will tell you I havent heard one person exiting the theatre, haveing anything but great things to say about the movie. I Think Rocky Balboa will be a movie that will have a long shelf life on the screen and that there will be a minimal drop off in ticketsales over the upcomming weeks. and besides its better to have a movie open moderately and play for months, than to open huge and be off the screen 3 weeks latter. seriously 3 weeks from now will anyone still be flocking to the other movies opening this weekend?

I just got home from my fourth viewing of ROCKY BALBOA and am looking forward to seeing it in theaters again. I have so much love for this character, and the closure given to his journey is captured so faithfully here. I've taken different people to the theater with me for each screening, primarily because I want to share this amazing moviegoing experience with as many friends (and strangers) as possible. I'm happy to say that the film grows on you more and more with each viewing....so much so that I've started getting emotional even in the smaller moments of the movie. Some of my favorite parts and moments (SPOILERS): all of the little tributes to the original ("Take You Back," the turtles, Spider Rico, etc.); the feeling of Adrian's presence all over the film (haven't been able to keep from tearing up during any of the flashbacks yet); the look on Rocky's face when his son cancels coming to dinner; any note of Bill Conti's score; Paulie's animal painting; the somber, lonely tone that carries the first half of the movie; "What an ugly dog!"; "Yo Little Marie...Let there be light!"; all the character interaction during Duke's big speech; "...the last thing to age on a person is their heart."; when Rocky says "Get up" to himself during the last round. But the one moment that absolutely makes me lose it every time is when the Balboa team is exiting the arena after the fight. Just as Rocky is about to leave the building, Robert turns his dad around to face the chanting and enthusiastic crowd again for one last minute of personal glory. I can't think of a better or more-fitting metaphor for Stallone's career than this, and my heart truly goes out to the guy. I will NEVER be able to watch this particular emotionally-charged moment of the film and not think to myself, "Wow, Stallone really pulled this off. And the fans love him for it." When this Q&A first began and Stallone claimed that he would personally rank the new film above the original, I thought surely he was saying that just to try to get the talkbackers excited. The original ROCKY is among my top three favorite movies of all time, so the thought of a fifth sequel reiging supreme didn't sit well with me. I am here to tell you that ROCKY BALBOA is every bit as poignant and moving as the original. And the last shot of this beautiful film is one that I will never forget. Sylvester Stallone, thank you.

Nothing big. Maybe 20 questions about the movie itself and some insight regarding the editing process. Just in case we don't get that I have two questions......(SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!) The ending to Rocky Balboa was perfect with one last moment in the spotlight and that poignant scene at the graveside. Speaking of graveside (bad segue) there were rumors for a while that Rocky would die in the ring. Was that option ever on the table and maybe actually filmed or is that whole Rocky dying in the ring thing made out of whole cloth? The second question is whether the MTV style editing of the boxing montage was a stylistic choice or was there MPAA concerns as well? (SPOILERS OVER) Thanks for Q&A this month. By far one of the coolest celebrity things I've ever seen. My vote for the next 200? Steven Spielberg.

Yeah, she hadn't seen it since she was a kid and she had never seen the first 2. Man she was crying thru the movie. Tomorrow we watch 2. Monday Rocky Balboa. It's hard for me to watch these movies because she's so much like Adrian and the two of us getting together is so much like Adrian and Rocky. I'm the foster kid who grows up being not so bright but a good heart and at 31 I finally worked my ass off into a game developer career. Watching Rocky's character yanks the emotion buried in the walls and gets me every time. I look back a year ago and think how I was delivering TVs and spending all my spare time on games and now I'm a producer, cause I got a shot and as scared as fuck as I was I took it and I made it. The good hearted but not so bright kid is a producer in games now. And the best thing is along the way I inspired my wife to go for her dreams too. So, watching Rocky Balboa had me completely a mess... just understanding how I'd feel like he does if I lost my wife. Cause we both make it with just heart and each other. I'm such a softy talking like this, but, man, if you ever went for it... this movie really gets to you. And in a hard hard week watching Rocky Balboa inspired me to keep on pushing cause if Sly Stallone can make Rocky Balboa, then I can crack artificial intelligence coding. :) anyway. Spidey 3 - looks decent - same trailer we've all seen, Arthur and the Invisibles (yawn - not a fan of big heads), Transformers - standard teaser, not even a trailer(it said a Michael Bay film and remarked to myself "Don't they want it to sell? They should keep that in the small font."), Rescue Dawn - do we really need another Vietnam movie? Well at least Christian Bale is keeping himself from being typecast, Ocean's 13 - personally I love these movies but we need more than just a 'polite choker' in the movie (a reference to a Sly quote when Barkin was choking in a resteraunt), and Meet the Robinsons - actually looks entertaining, at least for the jokes that don't fall flat - how's THAT for ambiguous?

I have seen the movie twice now and it was even better the second time. I have been spreading the word at my work place (Wal-Mart ack) for days. Wishing people a Merry Rocky and a Happy Balboa all week. When my fellow Co-Workers walk by me I try to shadow box or do Rocky Quotes to get them into the mood. Some of them call me crazy but many of them have been asking me about the movie. Is it really good?You can guess my answer to that. Also I have noticed many of the customers/co-workers still think this movie is coming out on Christmas Day and seemed confused when I told them I had seen it already. This seems to happen when release dates are changed close to release. Anyways I plan on seeing it at least 2 more times taking my parents and another time taking this older Co-Worker that works for me. Any movie that makes you tingle with emotion and smile while watching an old friend say goodbye deserves all the support we fans can give it. People need to know Rocky goes out ontop and swinging and Rocky V was like a dream Rocky had one night after drinking too many small beers.

I can't imagine a more emotionally honest and vividly resonating performance than what Mr. Stallone gave us. The man captured our hearts, so how 'bout giving him the Oscar. But is it impossible? No, certainly not. Paul Newman did not win for "The Huster," but rather for "The Color of Money." And Stallone deserves the award. Not because he put so much time into crafting the character, but instead because he explored the depths of of decent, genuine man, and in the process broke our hearts and built them back up again better than ever. He made us believe, and made us cry, and made us feel good about being human. So how 'bout we support him taking the award he deserves.

The character of Rocky has always been an inspiration to me... and there have been moments in my life when I have found myself in, or falling into, unfavourable environments. It's at those times that I have thought to myself "What would Rocky do?". Yeah, it may be kinda silly. But, after reading these chat logs I feel so validated in my source of inspiration over the years. Sylvester Stallone rocks! and is every bit as much an inspiration as his on screen character. Rocky Balboa Replaces "It's a Wonderful Life" on my Christmas Films Must-Watch List. I went to RB with my wife Friday night. She knew who Rocky was kinda-sorta but couldn't remember seeing which films specifically. She loved the film, cried a number of times at the great dialogue in the movie, and marveled over the warmth in the relationships in Rocky’s life. I think the reason most people don’t go to see these films is because they think they know what Rocky is all about. I suspect they think the movies are just two hours of boxing, silly if you ponder that, or maybe they don’t see boxers as real people, boxing stories are real stories about spiritual victory and not just violence for the sake of sport. This film reminded me what all adversity should be about and I think it reveals the cancerous attitudes that are ruining a lot of athletics these days. An attitude that is seeping all the way down to children’s sports when you see horrendous acts by parents who fist-fight at little league events. I want to say thanks to Mr. Stallone and everyone involved in Rocky Balboa; this film is an inspiration on so many levels, from so many points of view. An Inspiration to Fathers, sons, wives and true friends… Thanks Again!

Why isn't this film released now in the UK? I'm dying to see this now because everyone that has seen it says it's brilliant. I'll be spreading the word, I want to see Stallone back in cinemas again and again (and Schwarzenegger, give up politics man and go make King Conan). I'm gonna go watch some Stallone films, Rocky 1-4 (honestly, I saw Rocky 5 once when it came out and swore I'd never watch it again although I do own it because it's in the boxset... free coaster for my beer!). Cliffhanger, that's a bad ass action flick. Tango & Cash, very funny cheesy 80s film. First Blood, amazing really stands up better than the sequel by a long stretch. Copland, damn great and was hoping that would have lead to more roles showing you can be ordinary bloke as well as superstar. It's been fun reading all these questions and answers, and it's good to see Rocky Balboa doing well at the box office. should make a tidy profit at theatres, never mind the inevitable DVD sales that should make a fortune.

I was crying in the first five minutes. Go ahead, call me a sissy boy, but those shots of Rocky remembering Adrian killed me. Especially the scene where he sees her image at the the apartment stairs. I really believe this one's gonna be in the charts for a while. NATM is a kid's 'event' movie that'll have a big opening then fade quickly. Rocky has had steady box office for three days, with no real drop-off. Plus, most people think it'll be opening Christmas day, which should give it another boost come Boxing day (appropriate!). Hi Sly. I am from Europe and the film is not going to appear on the big screen until February..It's brutal to wait that long when you see everyone in the net talk about it. Please be honest: What would you have done if you had the oppurtunity to see a Steve Reeves film 2-3 months in advance and you know that you will support your here in cinemas by seeing the film a couple of times on the big screen anyway. Would you see it in advance ? Please imagine you are a young kid that can't wait to see his hero !!! ANd keep in mind: you will see it in cinemas anyway. I hope you answer this question since it's about an important topic.

definitely worth seeing , I talked like 4 friends already into going to see it and all of them loved it just like I did. Like I said in a previous post even EXCELLENT films these days do not end up making a ton of money in the box office because of how fast they end up on DVD , and of course multiple movies being released at the same time and not to mention last minute shoppers don't go to movies this weekend. Its a shame a kids movie came out the same weekend as Rocky B did but this has to be already considered a success..most people thought it wouldn't make this much money in a month. I am sure quite a few people thought it would make about 8 million or so for the whole week. Nice work Sly , you truly did a great job and trust me I WAS SKEPTICAL after the last Rocky movie.

The Good shepard..excellent movie , crapload of big big stars in it..Deniro , Pesci , Jolie , Matt Damon etc...it was real good and I thought well acted..it won't make a lot of money and will end up behind Rocky for this weekend. To make a lot of money these days in the theaters is not easy , Rocky Balboa will make all its money back and more in the theaters worldwide..and will kill on DVD..be sure of it.

I just wanted to say I went and saw Rocky Baloboa on opening day in Syracuse, NY during the final showing of the night. To my suprise even though it was a weekday and 9:50 at night the entire theatre was sold out. I couldn't beleive it it was awesome. I have been a huge fan for years and was really just going to wait for it to come out on DVD because of the bad taste Rocky V left in my mouth. This Q & A is really what made me go see it and I'm so glad I did. This is a movie about hope, love, about taking the road less traveled, and that no matter what this sometimes ugly thing called life throws your way that you can still stand toe to toe with it and say I am. I love how Rocky didn't win the fight but won his inner battle, I love how Paulie realizes that he should have treadted Adrian better, I love how Rocky's greatest battle in this movie wasn't his opponent but was life and himself, Everything about this film radiates hope and not giving up. Mr Stallone I'm glad you didn't give up and made the movie that needed to be made for all the people out there that when life has thrown a left hook have needed the inspiration to still get up and say "I Am". This is a movie for the good guys that life has dealt a wrong deal and rather than cash in their chips have decided that they need to keep on coming even though it gets hard. Thank You Mr Stallone for showing all of us in this hard world we live in that no matter what happens in life that if you stay true to yourself and your beliefs that in the end if when you look in the mirror and can say I gave it my all that that is what truly counts. Like many here, I loved the film dearly - but left early in the credits the first time I saw it. The second time I stayed throughout and found a nice treat after the running up the steps thing. Mr. Stallone... You made my movie going experience GREAT! Fuck coming out of that theatre was a great feeling.. Gotta give it to you for sending off Rocky on that note. That movie actually had class all the way thru. You respected the character you built with this script, you made him proud and elevated him back to were he should be. I loved this film. Was worth every penny I spent. While no 5 wasn't great I think it was because of the fight at the end with Tommy, other than that it could've worked making Rocky come back has a trainer and all. Hell if the end fight never happened maybe this new flick would be about Rocky training his son to take on the mantle, but I loved this version way more. Making Rocky come back like that. That was plain great. Thank you Stallone, Thank you.

I relly hope the movie makes it real big in the USA. Of what i've read so far it deserves it. The more big it becomes the sooner the Europe cinemas discover they've made an awful mistake not releasing it at the same time. I can't wait for it to arive here in the EU, its a shame the cinema is packed with awful movies while this gem gets to wait few months.

Speaking of Australia, I have to tell you that more than once during this process I thought of Lleyton Hewitt. I'm a huge tennis fan and knowing what an inspiration the Rocky movies had been to him all along I'd wondered if he'd seen these talkbacks. He's really the Rocky of tennis and a great champion in his own right. :)Back to the movie's box office, I think it'll have Departed type numbers. I think it should hang on like that one did and it should appeal to the same crowd. Great movies made by people we love. Oh and there's one thing that cracks me up. You know the normal people running up the stairs? Well there's this one blonde chick who is so violent with her uppercuts. It's funny. But the thing with Rocky after that, I like it the way it is. I've stayed for it every time.

I've become a member of AintItCool just so I could make this post to Sly. I have been pumped to see Rocky Balboa since the first trailer. I've always loved watching the Rocky movies (even Rocky V). Memorial Day is always a great time of the year because at least one channel will play all the Rocky movies (well, through IV at least) and I do my best to watch all of them again and again. This past week I dragged one of my best friends to see Rocky Balboa, despite never seeing another Rocky film before. This movie delivers on so many levels for me. I think it's because Rocky is so identifiable for anybody who has ever had to fight for themselves after life get the best of them. After the movie, I leaned over to my friend and said, "So, I know this probably makes me a pussy, but I nearly cried like 12 times in that movie." Sly, the best parts of this movie was not the fighting or the training, but when its just your Rocky at his most vulnerable. Whether its talking about Adrian, his son, or about the time that has passed. Watching that was truly remarkable and a very honest experience. So thank you for making a movie that made me feel like that. I don't think many people do that today, so I think you deserve credit for being very brave in bringing a thoughtful and emotional story that is clearly very personal to you. Good luck on the rest of Rocky Balboa's run.

IMDB just put up the top 10 for the weekend with estimated grosses. RB is number 3 with a $22m gross. Shame on all those who went to see Night at the Museum or The Pursuit of Happyness instead of the Italian Stallion! But it's still a strong opening. And the movie only cost $25m. If you're still reading this, I just thought you might like to see some quotes from people on various message boards. This is from a Star Trek board, of all things: Rocky was really one of those movies that defined a generation. A great story of courage and spirit and one of the greatest "underdog" tale in Hollywood history. But that story was tarnished, really. With Rocky's III, IV, and V they stopped being about Rocky so much as they just became Hollywood formula fast food. Little better than episodes of The Incredible Hulk, really. Rocky comes in...something bad happens to Rocky...Rocky gets angry...Rocky turns unstoppable, Rocky wins. The end. The only things missing are the torn clothes and green skin. Much like the first outings the fight is almost secondary to the idea of exploring Rocky. What makes him a fighter inside and out and makes him someone you WANT to root for. Stallone really hits a chord as a man who knows he has more days behind him than ahead, content largely to tell stories of his glory days, pose for pics and sign autographs. But, like that 'everyman' that Rocky is, knows he has it in him for one more glory day. You understand why he wants it and needs it. And you find yourself rooting for him all over again. The film stays very grounded by focusing on Rock's felings and relaitionships than the obligatory training montage (But that's still there.) :)I was really surprised because I'd pretty much wrote the film off as the last gasp of a has-been trying to stay relevant. And the response: I agree. I approached it with a great deal of trepidation, but as the release date came closer, and I was seeing more trailers and TV spots for it, I went back and rewatched the original movies and found myself really jazzed to see it. And I came out very entertained. The movie really brings back the power of the Rocky character - a man who's not very intelligent, but has a huge heart and is extremely charismatic and instantly likeable. And as the movie went on, I loved the little winks and nods to the previous flicks - the tour of Rocky and Adrian's romantic spots, Rocky's stories to the restaurant patrons, the statue, and making Spider Rico a regular was a great touch, too.

I thought Americans would flock to a great under dog film. No they went and saw Ben Stiller get attacked by a skeleton that roared and Will Smith play homeless. Not to make fun I'm sure both movies are good but Rocky was something special. Sorry to repeat what people have been saying but I have not been so pumped up in my life when I saw the training sequence. Starting with the "Lets start making some hurting bombs" to the music it was amazing! I'm seeing it again tuesday. Go Rocky!

I saw "Rocky" when I was sixteen. Read the obligatory book, and the screenplay that was churned out. When it came on HBO, I recorded it on my little five button cassette deck and played back the audio tape. Even drank a few raw eggs, because I was an 89lb weakling. Saw Rocky II the day it opened. Okay, it was just a retelling of #1 and basically a bridge to the rest of the franchise. Didn't have the heart or innocence of the first, but lightning rarely strikes twice. Remains a solid 6/10. Saw III Junior year in college. Now that was just fun. Glossy. Mr. T is still making a career from it. Saw IV a couple of years after college with a gang from work. Looked good. Rocky was on top and taking on the 8' Russian machine of steroid-infused destruction, but what the heck, it was a Rocky movie. Bigger than life. But he was in danger of turning into "Fonzie" (pause for Lords of Flatbush tribute). We were waiting for him to strap on some water skies and jump over a shark tank. Saw Rocky V one night on the late movie. Not even HBO, about 3 years after it tanked at the box office. The less said the better. Saw Rocky Balboa (thanks for not calling it VI) with my 23-year-old daughter Saturday night. A dignified, fitting and well done conclusion. The circle is commplete. (at least until I get it on DVD and my 12" Rocky statue replica from Sideshow). Rock did good.

I've gotta agree this movie is a hard sell. My girlfriend was on the fence until she heard DJ's on the radio bantering about how good it was. With her support, I took her and my parents (who were also hard sells) to see it this weekend. They loved it. We all loved it! Rocky Balboa is the type of movie that made me fall in love with film in the first place. I think by word of mouth, this film will become more and more popular.

I'm a HUGE Superman fan! Loved the movies alot. I was excited to see Superman Returns but after it was over.....I came out really flat. Nice movie but didn't grab me personally. Conversely, I came out of Rocky Balboa wanting to go for a run!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! I was very "emotionally involved" during the whole movie! I don't go to alot of films twice but I'm going back this weekend. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!

My journey with Rocky began many years ago with Rocky II. Seeing those training scenes were truly inspirational. Over the course of one summer, I went from being a "chunky monkey" to a kid with a decidely less noticable "ponche" !. I have enjoyed every Rocky movie...even # 5 ! I remember seeing this in a packed theatre and people were going absolutely ballastic...and yet so many were disappointed...I couldn't figure out why. I finally had the chance to see Rocky Balboa on New Year's Day. I was completely blown away...As if a perfect series couldn't get any better. You have truly created a perfect bookend for a such a beloved character. All the members at my gym will be hearing what a great movie this is. Congratulations and thank you !
