Hey Sly, I've been reading ALL of these, but that Robert Evans story finally made me post a comment. And that comment is this: "HOLY SHIT". Didn't you think of, I dunno, chopping off the guy's horse head and slide it under his sheets??? It's been proven that causes a lot of yelling on asshole big time Hollywood producers. Oh and one more thing: I saw probably ALL your movies when I was a kid because my mother had a HUGE crush on you. I loved the Rocky movies the most, but there was also a lot of fun. I couldn't see Rambo though because I was just a kid (here in my country there wasn't that "kids under 17 must have a guardian" crap. Otherwise, my mom would've taken me) Still, she used to TELL ME the whole movie once she got home from First Blood and PART II and I remember being so AMAZED by her telling of the story that wehen I finally got to see it I felt I was re-watching them. Today, I work as a TV screenwriter here, and to tell you the truth I honestly think that's because I fell in love with the telling of a visual story... Thanks to mom. And thanks to you, good sir. PS: Mom also loved Armand Assante, so when we went to JUDGE DREDD I almost felt filthy.

I don't want this stuff to stop. From my cheap seats as a movie watcher, I always smirked at the Oscar that Stallone won because I dismissed him as a one pump chump who got lucky with one script and earned himself a career. But I was waaaay wrong about his intelligence and gift of gab. The guy is truthful and a very enjoyable read. Put me on the bandwagon. Though I still hate the way the inside of weight rooms smell.

Anyone who thinks Evans is someone who deserves their adulation is a complete idiot. He is the epitome of almost all of Hollywood. Slick on the outside and a hollow core. He would have made a glorious abortion. Mr. Stallone, thank you for the insight into your life and exposing Evans to be the "person" I thought he was. Love how that documentary tried to soften his image. McQueen taking Ali MacGraw from him makes me love McQueen even more. By the way, I was at Best Buy earlier today and two kids were talking with much enthusiasm about going to see Rocky Balboa. Thought it was quite cool to hear kids, who had to have been about twelve or thirteen, discussing which parent, their mother or father, was going to take them to see it opening day. Does the name George Sack ring a bell? He has the cab from the semi featured in Over the Top lingering in his rental yard up in Aqua Dulce, Ca. Quite cool to see it resting there amongst the other vehicles he has constructed for films such as Duel and Men In Black. Oh yeah, I stumbled upon you shooting Rocky Balboa in Burbank earlier at a gym. Was it at that location where the training montage was shot? Curious.

The guy really is a prick, I remember reading about the making of Urban Cowboy, and the shitty way he treated Debra Winger throughout the entire shoot. He would call her ugly, all because he had wanted another actress for the role. It was so bad she quit, and other producers had to talk her into coming back, and promised to keep him off the set. He was probably coked up a lot during this time, but that doesn't excuse it.

Just gotta chime in and say, along with everyone else, this is one of the best things I've read on this big retarded inter-web in a long, long time. If I'm not laughing, I'm kind of cocking my head and saying "huh" at what a smart guy Stallone seems to be. From the whole Poe project (which I really want to see. Soon.) to the Joseph Campbell reference (I was just talking about him not 5 minutes before reading that. There's some synchronicity for ya. It's not just an album.) Guess I should ask a question while I've still got the chance... Two parter... What's the project you most regret rejecting and who would you want to play the title character in your eventual life story?

Sly, All I have to say is, thanks for making this real. Most of us will never even get close to a celebrity, much less hear one spill his guts to fans across the globe. Thanks for making this personal, thanks for responding with integrity. Your right, there is a kinship. Sometimes I feel like you guys live in another world, something we will never see, but when the curtain is drawn back, you find out "they" (meaning celebrities) go through the same ups and downs, and have just as much conflict and turmoil as anyone else. Thanks so much for doing this. I'm glad I've lived during this time to not only see your movies, but to know "how" you lived. thanks!

It's that Harry will never, ever do anything that will top this. Because seriously, the only thing to top that would be inviting an even bigger figure, someone like Bronson or Marvin... and they're all gone now, except for Clint Eastwood! Seriously, whom could Harry invite to top Sly? Nobody! Arnold, with his sexism and "humor" about as light as Bavarian ham? Benn Assfleck? That "My Fabulous Superman V Script Ruled So Much!" twat who's more insecure than a child of Woody Allen and Russell Crowe would be? Tom Cruise? Hmm, hang on, actually seeing Tom Cruise talbkack-raped would be funny, even though he'd enjoy it. But he'd probably convert Harry to scientology, so...

Stallone seems to have come down to earth in recent years. One of the images I remember of him was in the 80's on a Barbara Walters special or something and he had this long hair and was riding a motorcycle (I think with Brigitte on the back, but I can't remember clearly). Anyway, my point is this: That was the personification of what success in Hollywood could get you and it seemed so unrelatable, but now, geeze, can anyone think of any other superstar actor, not just successful actor, but one who is as big as Stallone doing anything at all like this? I can't. Affleck, Clooney, Pitt? Those guys wouldn't give a second thought about actually doing something like this. Keep in mind, this isn't nationally televised and not everyone in the world knows about AICN so he is really taking a lot of time and effort just to relate to what really is a subset of society.

by The Riot

Anybody who watched Rocky III knows Rock isn't a racist. Xenophobia is the irrational fear or hatred of foreigners. I guess some people could argue that Rocky IV is xenophobic, but a hatred of Soviet Russia is a good thing in my book. Mr. Stallone, if you're reading this, it would be great if you could comment on why you decided to add political undertones to the Rocky saga with Rocky IV. Every real American knows it wasn't Reagan that brought down the Soviet Union -- it was Rocky Balboa's "We all can change!" speech.

This looks like a good old fashioned movie. Now keep in mind Rocky V didn't intrigue me. I put "Balboa" almost in the recent reboot category of Batman, Superman, and James Bond. Granted it isn't a new beginning for this character but I can't deny that in a way he seems like a different character, older, still with a fire burning, but he's not the Rocky with the lamborginis and robots that became unrelatable, now he is back to being one of us. This is a fresh take on some time tested goods, it seems to me.

I watched an episode of Dinner for Five where Jeff Garlin and Tom Odenkirk (I think that is who it was) did spot on imitations of him and that Patton Oswalt sketch makes me wonder if the people in the audience even know who Robert Evans is. I think at this point you can just do an imitation of his voice and cadence and for people who don't know who he is they laugh because it is a perfect representation of Hollywood asshole. Last I saw Evans he was on the final Craig Kilborne show where Craig declared he wanted to be an Evans like producer. Evans looked like he just stepped out of the 1970's closet with a bolo tie and turtle neck and Kilborne was kissing his ass. I'm Glad Kilborne's producing career got off to a great start. Or rather, it didn't.

for sharing that Robert Evans story. Actually, I'm beginning to think he's a little nuts! Airing all this shit, the kind of stuff that a decent guy like Stallone has probably had eating away at him since the day he decided to become an actor, is the kind of thing that's not only rare, I'm actually not sure it's ever happened. I don't even think Brando ever got this raw in that out-of-print interviews book or in his bio. Combine these questions with the Rambo stuff, add 20 more and/or an intro and epilogue by Stallone and you have an all-time bestseller, Harry. It'd be interesting to see a graph of web traffic to this site in the last 18 days.

In Cobra the title character’s name was Marrion and he stated he would have preferred a more masculine name like Alice. I was wondering if this was an Alice Cooper reference and if you had a friendship with Alice Cooper? Also was wondering how you got on with Antonio on Assasins (my favorite film of yours other than Copland) and Rob Schneider and if freindship was maintained beyond the filmaking process. Any anecdotes from the films I've mentioned? Did any of the heavyweights in Copland becaome friends of yours? I like the dirt as much as any other person but I like hearing about comradery and friendships more - I mean it's cool to hear Bob Dylan speaking of how he was talking with Gene Simmons, etc. PS - While the digs at Carl Weathers are funny and his prima donna/egotistical attitudes, it's sad the friendship that's portrayed on screen (something I'm extremely fond of in Rocky II and III) didn't carry over off the set.

This is the pinnacle of AICN's existence. Stallone is such a down-to-earth guy, full of humor and insight. I can't believe that he feels like he's bonded with us mere Talkbackers. I don't want this to end, sniff sniff. Though the pain will be somewhat lessened by seeing Rocky Balboa on opening day. I can't wait. I only wish he could have answered my question; it was a real film geek one. I was curious as to what visual style he was going for in Rocky Balboa, as the cinematography looks different from previous entires in the series as well as his other movies; and I was wondering what his collaboration process with DOP J. Clark Mathis was like.

that he'll be bakc to do another 200 questions, I wouldn't read too much into "But, I will return with RAMBO IV and welcome your insights into that character and life in general." It may just mean that he will read talkbacks. I mean I love the fact that he's doing this despite my questions being ignored, but the man DOES have a lovely wife, family and career and I'd hate all the brotherly love (man love from others, heh-heh)directed to him turn to acid filled spite for not doing it again simply because Sly was misinterpretted. We Geeks are the most Loyal of them all. Sure we bicker amongst ourselves in our own geeky way about silly geeky things and sure "sometimes" we're bitter and pessimists and non-believers about things that are foreign to our geeky world but win our (kind) hearts and (superior) minds over completely and we are loyal to the core. So I guess Stallone may very well be a geek at heart. Who else but another geek would've known this side of us existed.

I mean, in my dad's company, the people who are making a million dollars or much more a year are like, PhDs, or have worlds of experience and are essentially.....supergeniouses or something. Like you could explain a whole new, out of context concept to them, and they'll learn it. My friend who is in dental school was like in the top nth percentile of his undergrad and he's struggling to keep up with the supernerds. Aren't actors like....high schoolers? Yes, I know there are LOTS of highly intelligent, college educated film students and theatre majors. But I'm talking about people like.....Vanilla Ice in 'Cool As Ice'. Maybe I'm just ignorant, and if so I am sorry. It's just that I always read about the superstars doing such foolish things, and Mr. Stallone has struck me as a very very intelligent, thoughtful, thinking person. Listening to him is like listening to your dad or your uncle teaching you. Lots of wisdom. He's changed my perception of superstar actors a bit.

I know what that word means because of that old Star Trek: The Next Generation episode where the entire crew of the Enterprise has to have its memory erased because they ran into xenophobes. And using that definition, its people who are afraid of anything that's foreign or different than what they know. How in the world is Rocky that? He went to the Soviet Union and gave that moving speech at the end, for crying out loud. Props to Sly for giving an interesting answer to a nonsensical question. Harry, you should have skipped over that one.

I was never a big Rocky or Rambo fan, but this is by far the coolest and classiest thing I've ever seen on this site. Thanks for coming on here, Sly, and giving us heartfelt, honest answers to some unconventional questions. It would've been very easy to just go the usual BS, Tonight Show route and feed us PR answers to softball questions. My question hasn't been asked yet, so I'll put it here for funzies: what's your favorite prop from any of your movies that you actually kept?
Proman1984, I think Sly DOES know what that means..

the question just doesn't make any sense. Like I just got finished saying, "xenophobe" implies that Rocky was scared to leave the streets of Philadelphia. Well obviously thats not true because he very willingly moved up the socio economic ladder with no problem. AND he went to Russia and gave a moving speech about how if they could cheer for him, maybe we're not so different after all. The question simply made no sense and defied logic. The only conclusion you could draw is that maybe the person asking the question meant the series had a problem with race. I'm not someone that kisses the asses of celebrities but I do appreciate that he has a finite amount of time right now and shouldn't be having to figure out a boneheaded question like that. So, props to Sly for giving us an entertaining answer in spite of the screwup.

Thanks! I'll send it to my dad....he's watched Bronson movies so much...yet whenever he flips the channel and lands on one, he still stays on that channel. He's watched ever major Bronson movie SO MUCH that it's sometimes hard for him to tell which movie is which anymore! Imagine watching the Rocky series SO MUCH over so many years that they pretty much melt into one another. I don't really mention Bronson to my dad much though...cause there's usually that very subtle mood change, and the eventual..."ahhh, even Old Huck is gone...."

Geez. Didn't Sly audition for the role of Han Solo originally? Now there would be a question to ask... if he thinks he would have been more successful in the role than Harrison Ford was. Or what about that persistent rumor that Sly was a big Doctor Who fan (at least back in the 90s)? Or if he ever had words with Norm MacDonald over the "yep, you guessed it...Frank Stallone!" routine from the SNL days. Those are questions I'd love to see answered... :)

And jokes are made, and whispers of negativity, and screams of anger and frustration are formed throughout the years. Yet, I have to say it, to scream it! To tell the world and all be damned. It's at the tip of my tongue now and it cannot be silenced anymore! Here it comes and I brace myself as I share it with the world, feeling free at last, bound by nothing, and with a clear conscience and with an honest heart! Throughout this whole process he has been a terrific sport and talked to us like we're old friends. Harry Knowles, this is your crowning achievement, because this wouldn't even be possible were it not for this site. The unique talkback format and the reputation that these things have gotten provided a truly unique and dare I say serendipitous experience for everyone who was lucky enough to were here to see it. Mr Stallone was wasted on Raw,sad I thought Hogan Vs Stallone at Wrestlemania or a Rock/Rocky tag team or a Stallone Vs Vince match was on the cards(like the Rock once said "Who is booking this crap" =>),oh well their loss.......That PS answer, boy they are the experiences that make a man think deeply about the evil that people with power and responsibillity inflict on the naive and the choices one makes,I bet the workout that day channeled a lot of aggression(I bet Gere got the job based on the mustard chicken story being talked about from their perspective lol),deep story I hope you acted with class towards the woman in question, don't worry the Karma police always collects =>.....2 rounds left oh well I'll chuck this out there.......When Rocky IV came out,all the local youth represented and we broke down the doors at Hendon Central Cinema not out of yobbery(I've broken it down honestly many times since) but because we wanted to see Rocky baaadd,Jumping up with kid adrenaline and throwing air punches at the screen, good clean naive days,I hope you didn't pick up the tab for that one,if you did sorry =>.Those kind of rushes are what makes a good movie experience and why a lot of things get cussed around these parts and why when the 200 questions commitment was made I was willing to battle everybody if the S;0T hit the fan, just as well, you lot got smart(or lucky),have a good day everybody, lets enjoy the level while it lasts, now about workout tunes.....
Schizophrenia

I'm not saying this to be an arse, but to try to set things straight because the term is generally misused and misunderstood/confused with split personality when that's not what shizophrenia is at all. The confusion's sort of understandable I guess as the greek root of the word means 'split mind', but it actually refers to fragmentation and disassociation, not coherent personalities (which is in itself a dissociative disorder, but I digress). The brain cannot hold regular connections between thought and emotion, and perception is altered or contradictory.

I'm not pretending to be any type of expert, but with all respect Sly that line about being in the moment all the time seems about as anti-schizophrenic as you could get. But maybe right for multiple personality disorder.

half vader, actor's being close to Schizophrenic isn't about them having split personalities. it's about them starting to forget that it's a role and not real life in a moment to moment basis. it happens. some people just start to shift into the role. like people who lie so much they forget they are lieing and actually remember the lies as what happened. basically, they start to live in pretend land a bit. it's not about having another personality.

The Definition of Xenophobia and Motive of the Question
by The Krypton Kid
Dec 19th, 2006
03:51:25 AM
"Xenophobia denotes a phobic attitude towards strangers or of the unknown. It comes from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning "foreigner," "stranger," and φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear." The term is typically used to describe fear or dislike of foreigners or in general of people different from one's self. For example, racism is sometimes described as a form of xenophobia, but in most cases racism has nothing to do with a real phobia. Xenophobia implies a belief, accurate or not, that the target is in some way foreign. Prejudice against women cannot be considered xenophobic in this sense, except in the limited case of all-male clubs or institutions. The term xenophilia is used for the opposite behavior, attraction to or love for foreign persons." Now I am an enormous fan of Mr. Stallone. Christopher Reeve and Mr. Stallone are my ultimate film heroes, and Stallone is the first hero I ever had. I have seen his films, especially the eternally inspirational "Rocky" chapters dozens upon dozens of times. And I have often sung Rocky's and Stallone's praises. However, I have often come upon statements and opinions that the Rocky films are "xenophobic," which I absolutely disagree with. So I used this opportunity to communicate with Mr. Stallone to give the opportunity to prove those misguided critics and detractors wrong. I can't help it if the people who used the term "xenophobic" did so improperly. But the word, for many, means racism, and Mr. Stallone obviously understood that. From my perspective, "Rocky" is absolutely not xenophobic or racist. It's absolutely human. It's what is common to all mankind, the ability to transend skeptics and detractors and touch upon greatness. To find self-worth in a world of self-doubt. That's Rocky. And that applies to all people, to all races.

Well first of all a 'duffel bag full' is a lot of polaroids, even if it's a gym bag - that would be enough to be disgusted at what kind of a slimeball Evens is (and yes, like lynxpro, I dug the cartoon as well although after this story...not so much), throw in pulling out a picture of the lady yer currently seeing and I'm sure I'd be thinking of asking what lies were told to get her in this posistion (no pun intended) and feel pity that she was such a victim. Since Sly used the terms 'very X-rated Polaroid','salacious image' and 'so perverse', I suspect it was something more than just a playful nude. Stories I've heard from roadies and how they (and promoters and band managers, etc) would make groupies earn backstage passes come to mind....and a polaroid isn't a photo-shoot. Most people over 25 generally know why polaroids were used back then rather than a 35mm and the local photomat...

Hi Guys. Really enjoying this series - a huge pat on the back to Mr Stallone. Thank you. I've noticed in the threads, Sly talks of (and this is kind of my interprestation of this) getting Rambo (or the script) into the right emotional/humanistic place for it to work. I;m a Brit, and apologise in advance if I upset anyone in this, but I would love to experience Rambo see closure facing some natural disaster situation and seeing his horrendously distored and perverted attributes used in a positive way rather than against terrorists/military factions/bad people in general. It's just that I do really appreciate First Blood, yet the other two, if I'm honest, loose much of the human story for me. I remember years ago reading of a Rambo 4, where a place similar to the location of First Blood was ravaged by a tornado and Rambo (after being shown the door) returns to save everyone (well, a relative I think). Maybe this sounds too corny but in the shadow of New Orleans, Tsunamis etc. I personally would be really interested in this direction. I wonder if it's too late (or if Sly sees this) but would love to hear his comment on the issues (less logistic, more story based) that would have made a script like this a problem. Cheers again. Happy Christmas. Sem

The amount of stories concerning the elements of PICTURES, NAKED WOMEN (or girls!) and THOSE THREE MEN that I have heard would surely make a good film. Unlikely to come out of Hollywood though right?

Er, sorry about the typo. When I refer to Rambo's horrendously 'distored' (sic) attributes, I am of course referring to attributes in the sense of abilities, skills etc. that have been enhanced and distorted by the millitary machine. And I'm not saying Rambo is a pervert - it's just that he isn't the "norm". Phew - think I got out of that one unscathed. Cheers, sem

Britain's Daily Star newspaper reports that the wife of football star David Beckham has apparently been lined up to play the alien bride in The Thetan - based on the religion, which believes in alien life forms. The Daily Star reported that Victoria - who Cruise has described as a "comic genus" - is said to be "thrilled" about getting her big Hollywood break. A source told the Daily Star: "Victoria is really hoping to make a go of it in Hollywood. "This could be the perfect start for her, with good pal Tom Cruise in charge." The 32-year-old - who made her first attempt at acting in the 1997 Spice Girls movie Spice World - will play the bride of an alien leader called a thetan, which Scientologists claim is an immortal spiritual being, present in all humans. Cruise - who is bankrolling the project himself after it was rejected by all the major film studios - is said to have picked Victoria for the role after being impressed by her "comic genius". Victoria - who is married to soccer superstar David Beckham - is currently looking to buy a property in Los Angeles after recently landing a presenting role on a new US fashion programme.

“If for one mortal moment one does not reach for the stars, he hasn’t lived, merely existed.” Those are great words, Sly. And it's another fine example of why you are one of the most inspirational people living, today. And I'm confident that "ROCKY BALBOA" will feel nearly as inspirational as the powerful original, especially to us older guys, like myself, here in the talkbacks. I have really enjoyed these rounds with you. Every day, I'm here. I don't post every day, but I'm definitely here. And as a parent who is still somewhat new to this fatherhood gig, I especially appreciate your insight. There really is alot of fear that comes with fatherhood, beginning with the pregnancy, itself. And maybe we do, as parents, sometimes need to step back and let children learn from their own mistakes. Maybe the key is to know when to step in. When to teach. And when to discipline. And when to... let them know they're loved, mistakes or not, no matter what. I knew a long time ago that you were more intelligent and talented than most people realize. And with these rounds here at "AintitCool", it is further proof of that. (So much so that I can easily imagine future guests whom will secretly use a professional speech-writer, at least to some degree.) Thanks, Sly, for being an inspiration to us all. Who knows? Because of you, ...I might be just a little bit better as a father. So consider this a thank you... from both me and my young son.

You are the reason contraceptives are handed out willingly to high school students. Stupidity breeds stupidity. Not to criticize Evans until we hear his side of the story?! A bag of Polaroids, X-Rated Polaroids nonetheless. There isn't a two sided story here. Evans is a morally bankrupted waste of stretched, sun diseased skin who apparently exploits women like its going out of fashion. He is a relic of the 70s. Disco died back then, why couldn't his career? Stallone has been more honest with his career in 18 days, now 19, then Evans could be in a 2 hour documentary. Also, did we really need a documentary on this man? Did we really ask for one? Granted Evans produced quite a few top notch productions back when film was exciting such as the Godfather. What your ignorance neglects to accept is that film is a collaborative medium and this human stain takes sole credit for the success his film have garnered. Until you have anything intelligent to say, go back to the kids' table and allow the grown-ups to talk.

Or is Sly kind of dense? I am a big fan and everything; I probably quote "Demolition Man" once a day, and "Oscar" almost as frequently ("That's a lot of ice!"). But the misuse of phrases, forced vocabulary and general misunderstanding of words (confusion of xenophobia for racism) makes me think that Sly is trying a little too hard. I reiterate that I fully buy into the genius of Sly, especially as filtered through that of Estelle Getty, and have thoroughly enjoyed these Q&A sessions, but it seems to me that people either deify the guy or trash him while knowing nothing outside of their opinions of his work. Either way, I appreciate the fact that we are hearing from an actor as significant as Sly, and not his publicist or an interviewer (no offense, Moriarty & Co.). I'm glad people are realizing the improbability and importance of what we are reading. Thanks, Sly. Next time you should tap me to be your editor, I'm like hella smart and stuff.

You are wrong in so many ways. Firstly, Peking and Beijing are not pronounciations, they are the names of a city. Secondly, ask 'anyone who knows anything about Madarin' what they learned in school (I mean a Chinese person here) and they will tell you Pinyin. People who use anything else, and the same people who use chewing gum instead of condoms. Peking and Beijing are not pronounced the same. How do I know? Because I live here.

I think what’s important is that he shares these great stories with us in his answers. As a general comment, I know many people on here are really big on grammar and vocabulary but we don’t all go on to get graduate degrees in English let alone straight A’s in our (Jr.) high school English class. On an informal board like this, does it really matter? And I know you didn't mean any particular ill will or anything but calling the Guest of Honor "dense" is probably uncalled for. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. I think Stallone's proven his worth to us.

Thanks for the nice reply. These thing often look like less of a talk-back and more of a Harvester flame-grill. I'd love to see something that centres around Rambo's humanity. But I'd love to hear the creator's opinion more - over here, I caught him some time ago on the Actor's Studio - and it was probably one of the best I'd seen. Whatever people's perceptions are, he is a very clever man with a lot more to say of value than he may have been given credit in the past. So, even after a lukewarm 3, a bombasic but hollow 4 and a likeable but unrewarding 5, I find myself looking forward to Rocky 6 for very different reasons - and that's a great thing in my mind. Cheers Sylvester. sem.

I'll never forget when I first saw Sly at the opening night of Planet Hollywood here in London. Hundreds of stars were there & Sly was the only one who jumped the barricade to shake hands with his fans. Bodyguards went ballistic & got him back to safe territory. Everyone went crazy, then Sly joined Arnold & Bruce on the podium & everyone was chanting''Rocky'' over & over. This is how much Sly loves his fans & never forgets who keeps him on top. That's why we have this rare interview. Love u Sly, Merry Christmas & have a fantastic 2007.You deserve it. While I loved the Rocky films and several other Stallone pics, I have to admit, I labelled Mr. Stallone in with the rest of the Hollywood pack of spoiled, jaded assholes. First of all, I'm not a Hater. While, I'll admit that I'm not Sly's biggest fan I don't see at as a problem at all to be critical about what he said. First of all, it's obvious that he screwed up with the xenophobia question (especially when we begin to consider the real intent behind the question i.e. Stallone's characters attitudes towards Vietnamise, Russians and foreigners in general). So what? There a ton of things I don't know though I do my best to look up the meaning of the words I don't know about as soon as I can. I also honestly belive that Mr. Stallone is in no position to pass moral judgement on Robert Evans. Sly was in many sex scenes in many of which actresses were asked to do things. Heck, Sly himself was in a porno film to advance his life (and potentially his career). His movies have oten been very misaginistic towards women. Who is he to judge that women he went out with? I'm not saying Evans wasn't sleezy. Of coure he is! In fact, that's the very image he was trying to cultivate in other people for ages. I just think that AICN talkbackers are way to quick to jump on Evans back without even doing a tiny little bit of reesearch. Sorry, Sly but I do not find you the most unbiased reliable person when it comes to facts. All that said, I think it's very cool Sly is doing these Q&As with fans. Very cool. Too bad most of his fans are too busy building his idol's ego to even try to understand what I was trying to say. So, stop HATING on ME for just having an opinion (especially since I have no intent to piss of stallone or his fans) P.S. I'd rather be compared to Gere to Stallone and if you think that's gay than I would like to remind you that the idea of a male heterosexual Stallone fan is way gayer :) (j/k).

Stallone is interesting in that his projects are a type which focus on the personality, in this case a strange, blunt mixtures of pride and altruism, and the will to triumph in the face of adverse circumstances. Tom Cruise is comparable to Stallone in some ways. The difference is Cruise postures in ways to make us think that we are more clever just by watching him be clever. Stallone pretends the pain and struggle to make us think we can overcome. People would much rather overcome than be clever. Thus the Rocky/Rambo mythologies will have a more lasting impact on the American psyche than Cruise's attempt at the same game (Mission Impossible).

Proman, do you really think that's what all of the compliments to Stallone are about? To build up his ego? I would think winning an Academy Award would do that alone. He doesn't need us to boost his ego. He is simply giving us what we have given throughout the years, respect. I noticed in your "response" to all of us who have mocked you that you said if you hear a word you aren't familiar with, you look it up. Well from the looks of things, and several misspelled words, you still have work to do. Crack open a dictionary and research backhanded compliments. You openly insult Stallone's integrity and then appreciate how candid he is being towards us. Jesus Christ, you have made a mockery out of your intelligence. For the record, I have done my research on Evans and still regard dogshit higher than I do him.

...and it dates back to the decision of making the iconic character of Phelps into a villain just to make Cruise's own created character the hero. That was idiocy. I guess the fictional character of Phelps had too many Thetans clinging to him so Cruise had to create "Ethan Hunt" to supplant the apparently flawed character instead of playing him outright. Stallone would have been a good pick for the role of Robert Neville. I am cringing at the thought of "Awweeee Helll Naaah" playing that role. I stayed home and did not contribute to the box office that was *Scrawnyman Returns* and thus I won't be seeing Will Smith box vampires in New York City. Personally, I'd rather have an army of Robert Evans clones controlling Hollywood and making decent producing decisions instead of the likes of Michael Bay [insert Jon Peters] or the dubious penmanship of Akiva Goldsman destroying quality projects with the sheer mass of their stellar ineptitude as is the current state of Hollywood output. Throw in Emmerich to that list I just cranked out too. Never trust American history presented onscreen as channeled by a German who thinks an iguana-like Godzilla is a great idea.

Harry liked that film. As for when Ridley Scott and Arnold were attached to *I Am Legend*, it was entitled *American Legend*. That was in 1998, in the early days of AICN. Then they blew the budget and both walked away with the Star Trek TNG/X-Files director [whose name escapes me currently] taking the helm. Briefly, Kurt Russell was in the running for both the role of Robert Neville AND Batman...which was something I openly advocated for on here back then...

If you want to learn chinese the traditional way, you wouldn't have referred to Pinyin but to bepemefe, seeing as it is a far closer character set to chinese characters than pinyin. lmao. i speak chinese, i am married to a chinese, i have lived in taiwan, HK & china for many years. Back to school with you!

So wait, just because I have a different opinion means I'm here to start flame wars? Wow, how open minded of you. I'm getting a bit tired of saying that I have nothing against Stallone personally. I'm glad that Rocky 6 is getting decent reviews even if I have little desire to see it myself. I may catch it on TV later and who knows maybe it'll pleasantly suprise me. And I don't need you to kiss me ass. I'm sure YackBacker (a real troll) would be more than happy to do it himself.
