And I think that this season's been solid so far! I mean, the team building via video games episode? Classic. But nothing beats last season's George Forman grilled foot episode with Dwight vomiting! That is still my all time favorite.
I'm starting to like it more than the UK version.

The UK Version is brilliant in it's own right, for being so groundbreaking blah blah blah, and I love the humor, but one can only handle so much skin-crawling anxiety with Gervais' antics. Whereas Carell seems to play the character much more well-intentioned. Although the Lazy Sunday send-up bit made me want to bury my head in sand.

Or it might just be getting better. Give it a few (3 to 5) eps to see if you change your mind. I wasn't too keen on the American Office (or Arrested Development, for that matter) when I first watched them, so you never know. Stranger things have happened.

by kinghenryVIII
Dec 14th, 2006

David Caruso is by far the most under rated actor out there. His line delivery in the show cracks me the hell up! "Yes Mr. Wolf" (pause for 90 seconds), "it appears that the surf is, indeed, up." Q The Who. Classic! Calleigh Duquesne's (Emily Procter) junk ridden trunk ain't bad either!

In the words of my grand father, "YOU KILLED MY TEACHER! WHY! WHY! WHY!" Oh wait, that's I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!" I love the origonal Iron Chef - the dude with the gloved hand. But the USA one is pretty chill. Bobby and mario rule! Morimoto is indeed the comic releif, "I rike you. You make me raugh."

I tried. I really did. I just find nothing funny about it. They took Baldwin - who was hilarious on his SNL appearances - and made him essentially a one note joke. Sorry - Scrubs, Office and Earl are all pretty hilarious ... but 30 Rock is unwatchable. As for Office, I think it's been solid all season, but has amped up to absolutely hilarious ever since the merger (thanks mostly to the Andy / Dwight interactions)

It's really finding it's way very quickly and is the 2nd best sitcom on TV behind The Office. Live every week like it's Shark Week! Unfortunately, Scrubs has officially jumped a very bizarre shark, and has anyone else noticed all of the Scientologists guest starring on Earl?

a trick is what a whore does for money . . . or cocaine." There is nothing as funny as that on television, right now. However, I didn't want to like the American Office. I thought it would be a cheap ripoff. But it won me over Dwight bit by Dwight bit. The fax from the future, and the George Foreman grill burn completely made me a fan. If I can't have the Bluth's, at least I can have the Dunder-heads. (but dammit, I want both).

Stephen Merchant won a british Comedy Award for best actor Gervaise was in New York having dinner with Jerry Seinfield and ben stiller. However the evening belonged to Harry Hill for the little seen Harry hills TV Burp which is now into its sixth season. TV Burb is outstanding. ITV should put the bloody thing on earlier. Once again, it was off camera incident that overshadowed the event, When animal expert Nigel Marvan brought on a fully grown pyhton on stage and it went for a slither about. Ross, once again has cemented reputation as the best after dinner speaker in the UK. He gets points this year slating Ch4 and Russell Brand, numerous times, Lenny Henry bestowed Oustanding Contribution to entertainment to Christ Tarrant, who said they are marking Tiswas's 25th Anniversary with tv special. Tiswas is and will remain the great uk kids tv show of all time. Apart from the python moment, Harry Hill slating Ant and Dec as the morcambe and waise was a higlight. Best british comedy went to borat, baron Cohen was there and Madonna presented him him with the award(the writers guild ronnie barker award),those on this site who didnt like the film,Borat, will be stunned to learn that it has grossed worldwide $220,000,000. Ross's dark comment of the evening was that the body of Mark Lamar has not been discovered. The peoples Choice award again went to ant and dec. Uk visitors to this site will have been made aware that the programme that preceded the British comedy awards was called Exticnt. where the british public votes to save an animal nominated each night by a celebrity. ITV. Extinct. geddit?

Have some aside about him the Bluth Company being gone or something, and so he works at Dunder Mifflin. Arnett is available, and having GOB interact with Michael and Andy would be so fantastic. I also love how Andy has been on the show for so little time, yet he is quickly becoming everyone's favorite character. And although 30 Rock isn't fantastic in my opinion, I watch it, and I think it is a lot better than Earl, which is incredibly over rated in my opinion.

by Mr_Boombista
Dec 14th, 2006
01:41:16 PM
... I think will be disappointed. Two episodes (the Daniel Radcliff and Ian McCellan episodes) were hilarious, and the finale was okay, but the other three were seriously boring. I barely laughed at all, and at times felt bad for Gervais. Season one was much better, which itself was a serious dropoff from the Office.
Extras was hit and miss.

As was the office. It says something about the parlous state of american comedy, when a british comedy writer, like gervaise can scoop three major american awards. and it also says something about the barren landscape of uk comedy that no major british network can replace him or find new talent. To quote a popular book out at the moment is it me or is everything shit!

by 7Cal
Dec 14th, 2006

I'm guessing Jan, to go to Sandals with him, since there is really no one else we know of in the show that he could call. But they didn't actually let you know- I rewound and watched the scene twice. He never says 'Hi, Jan?' or anything. So is he getting it on with Jan on a white sand beach, or what?

Are you his agent? The dude has 8 movies at different stages of production and possibly more than that. I love AD as much as the next guy but a crossover between those shows is unnecessary and wouldn't work. Arnett might be good in a cameo but not as GOB and certainly not as a fulltime cast member.

I bet his was his mom. unless Jan was drunk when he called. and the bit at the end with pam and jim executing a great prank on dwight was perfect. a nod by the producers and writers that jim and pam are still a possibility. which was needed, after all the negative (well, not overtly, but you know) scenes they'd had together. keep hope alive!

I also don't understand all the 30 Rock hate. And I was way sceptical after Fey's run on SNL which ranged from just-O.K to just-plain-shitty. I've been laughing out loud at just about every 30 Rock since the first one. My only problem is Baldwin AND Morgan's characters are already pretty one-note. They could easily do more with any of the writer characters, the page, or that hot-ass blonde secretary or whatever she is and the show would be even better.

What was the movie Pam and Jim gave each other? I could not quite make it out.

Also, 30 Rock is great because of Baldwin. His character, while one note, is funny, funny, funny. Once the writers get the hang of it, his part will expand significantly.

On the subject. I love the Office while the rest of my family thinks it sucks. Go figure. That is why JEEBUS invented the DVR.

I'm not sure what happened, but it's almost like a parody of itself at this point. The surrealist parts aren't interesting anymore, it's just cartoony and random, and then about 3/4ths of the way through each episode it turns into cheesy melodrama and there's some awful montage with one of Braff's indie friends' power ballads playing in the background. The only thing it has going for it is Elizabeth Banks' hotness.
