Futurama is much funnier than The Simpsons, in my opinion. First of all, the "family" format has been endlessly done. Two, not too many Sci-Fi Comedy shows have been done (Red Dwarf is another great show). And third, the complexity of the charcters and the world offers much more to go on than The Simpsons. The writing is brilliant and the show looks better than any other prime-time animated show. I, for one, am very excited about its triumphant return.

It dealt with Fry finding his dog from the past petrified in rock. Fry was getting ready to clone him to have him back, but decided that Seymour, his dog, had probably lived a good life after Fry had been frozen. The episode ends with a flashback showing that Seymour had waited outside the pizza parlor that Fry worked at waiting for him to return. After my cat of 17 years died last year, I dare not watch that episode ever again, cause I'll probably cry harder than the first time I watched it.

I thought that they were making four direct to DVD movies at first with the first one being Bender's Big Score and then when Comedy Central got the rights they were just going to split them up into four episodes each for like 16 episodes. So while they are unseen episodes would these qualify as a new season??? Are they just testing the water to see if they need to make more actual episodes? If they are movies cut down into episodes it would expalin why they are more in continuity huh?
I agree with everything said above.

Futurama is absolute gold. Even most of the "bad" episodes (I'm looking at you, "Put Your Heads on my Shoulder" are funnier than anything the Simpsons have done in 10 years. That being said, the worst episode ever is "Spanish Fry". I shudder to think about it. ...and the next season of Venture Bros. are the only things I'm looking forward to in terms of animation. That's pretty sad considering not long ago animation dominated my DVR record list. Between those shows, JLU, South Park, Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, it really was the bulk of what I watched during the week. Now JLU's gone. South Park feels like it's trying way too hard. Family Guy feels like it's stopped trying entirely. And the Aqua Teens just plain forgot what made them so funny. I won't even comment on the undead shambling mound of anti-humor the SImpsons has become. They better not cancel Venture Bros.

This episode seems to have really affected a lot of people, which is rare for a cartoon. I remember both me and my girlfriend of the time were almost angry at the way it took such a sudden melancholy turn at the end. It's very touching, though, especially for any dog owners. Not cat owners, mind. No cat would do that. I love cats, but you just know they'd wait maybe twenty, thirty minutes and then find someone else to feed them. Cats are the sluts of the pet world.

Luck of the Fryish and Jurrasic Bark both touched me too, more Luck of the Fryish then Jurrasic Bark because I have a similar riverlary with my brother where we love each other but re always dogging on each other and trying to top one another but that is a great ep

"...by biting it!" The best Bender line ever, from the Amazon women planet episode. That line made me gasp for breath after about an hour of laughter.

The only other line that's ever done that to me was from "The Critic", when Orson Welles was plugging Rosebud Frozen Peas, and claimed they had "country goodness, and green pea-ness". I nearly crapped my pants at that. Caught me off-guard and in the right moment to produce endless fits of gut-busting laughter.

I guess you had to be there...

Oh, and any time Bender is running and panting, like he's out of breath, is hysterical. As is Kif's dejected "unmph" sigh behind Zapp. Actually, this show is chock full of goodness, isn't it?

Okay, so this might not be the best place to post a query like this, but I can't seem to find any info online.

I have all the DVD sets, but in the last two months, three of the DVDs from two different seasons have stopped playing on all DVD players, despite the fact that there are absolutely no scratches on them whatsoever. They are in mint condition. I've tried them on several players and the result is the same.

Has anyone ever encountered the problem before? I loathe the idea of buying two whole seasons to replace three discs.

Any info would be mucho appreciated.

Oh, and I'm elated at the prospect of new Futuramas!!!!!

It's chock full of hilarious moments, but I personally dislike that episode because of its nonsensical Oscar subplot. "At the last second, this guy is nominated... but no wait, I just this guy wins!" Huh, wha? Is that supposed to be a Marissa Tomei joke or something? Either way, the central conceit of the episode was weak. But I love Boxy the robot. Luck of the Fryish is the ep that hits me the most, moreso than Jurassic Bark. Also the flashbacks at the end of the ep where Leela finds out who her parents are gives me goosebumps. Just thinking about those 3 eps gives me goosebumps.

Futurama is so funny, yet is has heart. Just like older Simpsons and Scrubs.

My 2nd personal fav, only beaten by the pilot, space pilot 3000. Fry taking on 2 hydraulic doors and guessing wrong both times is quite possibly the funniest things I have ever seen. (Which leads to this question, since we see nibblers shadow in the first episode, did the writers really write that far ahead as to cover the paradox? Thats just amazing!) In my opinion, Roswell thats ends well is the closest they got to achieving feature film quality (Bender being buried for hundreds of years? genius) /definitely all glory to the hypnotoad. //its me! As the candy hearts poured into the fiery quasar, a wondrous thing happened, why not. They vaporised into a mystical love radiation that spread across the universe, destroying many, many planets, including two gangster planets and a cowboy world. But one planet was at exactly the right distance to see the romantic rays, but not be destroyed by them: Earth. So all over the world, couples stood together in joy. And me, Zoidberg! And no one could have been happier unless it would have also been Valentine's Day. What? It was? Hooray!
