Hey Sly, how about giving a shoutout to the AICN community on the Rocky Balboa DVD?? :) In the special features when you are talking about promotion and releasing the movie, talk about what you did here and give us all a hello! Be like "HEY HARRY, MERRICK, GIBSONUSA, MORIARTY, MERRICK AND EVERYONE ELSE!" It'd be awesome and we'd all love ya for it!

I always heard the story of Stallone throwing himself off a cliff for Rambo II with only one camera on it because the insurance company wouldn't go for it -- he had to sneak out with a crew. Anyone know if that's true or is it one of those movie legends?

I just want to say Sly, I'm only 22 but I am huge fan of all the (I hope this don't offend you because I don't mean to) older action stars. You, Bruce and Arnold, I probably have mostly every movie all three of you have done in my collection {some of them just to laugh at like Stop or my Mom will Shoot or Jingle All the Way, and I hated the Whole Nine (and especially Ten) Yards}. But I do own all of them because as you said, the action stars of today would be your guy's bitches. I first want to congratulate you on finally making another Rocky. Rocky 5 was ok, but I think everyone wanted to see you back in the ring. I have to say, I was concerned about your age, but I have seen both available trailers 100 times and you seem to make jokes about it, and go deeper in depression from the wisecracks (which is why I think you need this fight in the first place). Anyways, my question for you is, your head was real messed up in the 5th movie (you were blacking out and I almost thought you wouldn't survive the film). Is it too much of a secret, or did you just write that part out in the new movie? Or, did age cure the blackouts and pain?

These Sly Q&As have been great. I'm gonna have withdrawal when it's over. Yesterday it was "marry Ivan and punch Brigette," today it's "young action heroes answering to the name of 'Bitch'" and a "motherfucking" garage owl! Truth be told, however, I enjoyed the Transporter movies although as a character Frank Martin is not as admiration-worthy as, say, Rocky, who above all else remains very human and vulnerable. You lose a lot of credibility / authenticity when your hero knows martial arts to begin with and is nearly indestructible. In classics like "First Blood" and "Die Hard," you root even more for the protag because they do get injured along the way and there's always the possibility that they may not survive. Anyway, thanks Sly!!

Not that anyone really gives a shit about my opinion, but here goes anyway. People who I liked to see for future Q/A's: Christopher Walken, Kurt Russell, Cameron Crowe, Ron Howard, Pierce Bronson, Tom Hanks, Ray Liotta, Mel Brooks Other people I would like to see do the Q/A's, but would probably not come down to the level Stallone has been for this or would not even allow their ego to be put aside.... Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Sean Connery, Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Harrison Ford, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, James Caan, Gene Hackman Or another idea would be anniversary type retrospectives with cast members/directors/producers from films. Such as next year would be milestone for movies such as: Godfather (35), Star Wars (30), Blade Runner (25), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (30), The Untouchables (20), Predator (20), Full Metal Jacket (20), Unforgiven (15)

Seriously, this is gold so far (although it's turning to silver with the repetitious questions), and if it was kept on this kind of a keel with other celebrities, it could almost be a whole other website. Hell, there could be a whole series of AICN interviews books, like the interviews with filmmakers series. Where you throw in 100 MORE questions that didn't show up on the site as a bonus. And I think the inherent risk in a celebrity not getting out of the way of their own ego adds another dimension, like, 'Which one will walk away early because he/she is offended?" Then you KNOW which ones are completely fucking insane and not down-to-earth ala Stallone. Sadly, I think that would include most of them. From that last list, I"d have to say that Duvall would be honest, Murray, Hackman, Caan, and Coppola, I think, but that's it. Stallone has always been intelligent and anyone who knew his life story knew that to be true, but perhaps never moreso than now, with these interviews. It's just that the doors flung open almost TOO wide after Rocky and after all that struggling, who wouldn't react like a kid in a candy store? Anyway, that story about Kirk Kerkorian and 'Alex' from MGM is insane. How he could relate things like that to us in this format and not bat an eyelash is beyond me. THAT'S the kind of stuff you NEVER hear about from the horse's mouth out of fear of fucking up their career. I guess Stallone feels like Dylan, "When you ain't got nothin', you got nothin' to lose." That makes him pretty dangerous by Hollywood standards.

This Q&A article series could be its own website that could later be turned into books, etc. Unfortunately, I think Stallone is a unique guy in terms of his candor. I'm not too sure others would be as forthcoming in their answers, particularly the "big-timers" like Speilberg or Coppola. Well, maybe Coppla, 'cuz he's such an independent guy. I would love for this series to continue perpetually, because I've not been this riveted in anything AICN has put out for a long time. The "breaking news" stuff about trailers in GLORIOUS QUICKTIME is only so interesting. This Q&A is like film geek nourishment. Also, this is a noble way to use AICN's "clout" as an entertainment website. Screw Inside the Actor's Studio, I want more of this!!!

The more I think about it, the more I believe it’s going to be a long time before we get another series of Q&As as good as this. Of the two parts of an interview, the questions and the answers, asking good questions the fans always wanted to know isn’t a problem since these are questions from the fans. However getting good answers in response depends on the person being interviewed and there just aren’t many people on the same level as Sly. Stallone has always been a sort of laid back, intelligent, funny guy… maybe not to this degree, because these answers are absolute gems, but he was always capable of this level of material if he was in the right forum/situation. Most celebrities are really boring or annoying in person and are too afraid to speak out about the good, weird stuff in their personal lives or the lives of other celebrities. Even if they have something interesting or educational to say, they’re not likely to respond with the same level of pure entertainment we’ve enjoyed in this series. Stallone on the other hand, has that rare combination of traits that make for a good interviewee. He’s funny, but not in a Robin Williams/Jim Carey/[insert comedian] over the top, “I’m a professional comedian and a funny guy, everything I do and say is funny and I demand that you laugh” sort of way, candid but not in a “I’m an angry actor and I’m out to spite so-and-so because they wronged me” sort of way, and has a good narrative voice on some interesting behind the scenes topics unlike most celebs who’ll awkwardly describe how their friend/child/cat did something really funny that no one really gives a crap about. Plus, perhaps most importantly, there’s a level of humility and honesty that he has with himself and his profession that’s down to earth and which strips off the false, plastic, publicist generated image that makes him feel like one of us. People in Hollywood view themselves as royalty and celebrities desperately try to climb the inherent social ladder that gives them more fame and clout. Unfortunately, this make them feel that their job places them higher up on the social ladder then the fans who support them and that attitude/aura tends to come through. So thanks Sly and AICN for this rare, one in a million pairing. I'm looking forward to the next round as much as tonight's episode of BSG.
Why are these ROUNDS with Sly so untalked about?

Okay, 62 total posts (after this there will be 63) and that's it. If this was an article about Transformers or MAN IN SUIT!!! then there would be 600 posts, not 62 (soon to be 63). Is that because there are 538 people who have nothing bad to say about this Q n A, nothing about "STALLONE RAPED MY CHILDHOOD." So I guess in order for a talkback to be number one in total posts, there has to be drama and controversy. So here we have, 60 some people think is some of the coolest shit in awhile on AICN and instead of being filled with haters, it has nothing but kudos for Harry and co. and not to mention Mr. Stallone himself (and his assistant, with the great name, as well). Good stuff, even if it's not the most populated.

Hi, I just had a major Sinus surgery, I had thin blood and bleeding won't stop.I left Hospital too soon because I was Going to see Rocky Balboa no matter what.I was prepared to see what was supposed to be a good farewell to my favorite movie character of all time.Sly said that he was righting wrongs of Rocky 5 , this was exciting.Rocky 5 was still pretty good, it was sad that Rocky was left mentally impaired and broke, both mentally and financially. But at least he still won a street fight at the end, so all was not lost. He was still a winner.Rocky Balboa was good all the way through, but the ending not only ruined it, but also all of the others as well.Sly, you're a genius, I Love you, but I have had the biggest cry, as though all hopes and dreams have been lost, and I lost the best story ever to a bad ending.Fans wanted to see him go out in glory, getting everything back, new wife, money glory, and being remembered properly, as doing the impossible. The right thing to do for the fans would have been to had the exact same movie, but in the last few seconds, knock him out, keep the fire flash quickly to rematch title for belt win holding belt high, flash to defending title a couple of times winning, then show newspaper saying your retiring, you've already proved your the forever champion, let people know Rocky made a fortune back, got everything back. You could have at least had Dixon's Promoter mention a huge payout Rocky would get so at least people knows he gets something back. It's still just so awful for the people who loved you and Rocky not to end with a knockout.I know what you were trying to say, he could still go toe to toe, but that is just the easy way out because you worry about the people who say it would all be unbelieveable. That is what Rocky is, UNBELIEVABLE Victory and ending this way just saddens and highly dissaapoints, no matter what anybody else tries to say to be nice and true, they are all really saddened and dissapointed in rocky being forever a loser we wanted to remember him the way we have all the years. Please fix this.If its not possible to pull real quick and do quick ending change then please right another with Dixon rematch and the rest I mentioned. This one will probably loose money or not make much, but if people see a real ending one come out soon with Dixon rematch They will be so happy you finally fixed the series for it's proper ending, they will see it over and over and send others. If this ended that way I was planning on watching at theatre at least 5 Times. But as it is as much as it will kill me I will never watch any of them again until justice prevails, I love Watching Rocky 4 so much it is pure power and genius, it is so hard saying goodbye and putting it away forever. You were in such awesome shape, you looked as though you would have easily beat Mason Dixon,we really need a Rambo 4 now so we can at least see one of our beloved Stallone characters end up on top.You are a great thinker who has always been grossly underestimated as such, I have enjoyed reading your thoughts on this forum so much, I wish you had a book on your thoughts and philosophies and just the way you look at things in general, it would be riveting and enlighten so many. help us Sly, youre our only hope.
