"I think the story of RAMBO is one about being considered obsolete, not part of the new technological mode of warfare, kind of a savage turned loose in Microsoft’s headquarters"......So, Rambo IV will pit Rambo against Bill Gates?! Man, I'd pay double to see that. It'd be a short movie though. Slide that uber-serrated hunting knife of his into BG's left temple, roll end credits.
Yeah Rocky IV was out of place.

First no Bill Conti....instead they got Vince DiCola, that guy that did Transformers. Second, Rocky didn't ACT like Rocky at all! Rocky in all the other movies acted one way....the Rocky in Rocky IV acted so different, like I dunno, Suburban Rambo or something. It wasn't Rocky. (Even though as a kid Rocky IV was my favorite one....now Rocky II & III are.).......BTW another Stallone/Transformers connection, did you know that that Transformers song "The Touch" (I think that was it), was originally intended for Stallone's Cobra?

Wow. At the start of this experiment I thought I wouldn't be interested at all. I haven't seen any of the Rocky movies, I've only seen one Rambo movie and I just dismissed Mr. Stallone as just some old washed up muscleman. But after reading the last six Q&A sessions, I've got a whole lot of new found respect for the guy. I've never met him, but he comes across as an intelligent, honest, really funny, down-to-earth guy who genuinely loves what he does. He's not afraid to realise his mistakes and look back and laugh about them. My opinion has totally changed about you Mr. Stallone, and I look forward to the rest of your fantastic, insightful interactions with the great unwashed. And maybe I'll just go rent those Rocky movies to finally see what all the fuss is about.

To Mr. Stallone & Mr. Knowles, To have someone as popular and especially respected as Sylvestor Stallone on this site answering questions for fans is just so special, unique & simply really fuckin cool. It's also a genius marketing move to help promote Rocky Balboa, so bravo. I was introduced to Mr. Stallone on the opening weekend of Cliffhanger back in may of '93. To this day the first ten minutes still scare me shitless. Reading these rounds of Q&A's is such a delight & treat and I look forward to a new set everyday. Stallone + armwrestling = ARM TV
by armtv
Dec 7th, 2006
12:46:10 AM
This is my first time posting here. I have been reading for years BUT the STallone action has finally gotten me to register and post my comments. I really would like to thank AICN for being so cool. I know Sly called you guys first but either way this interaction has been amazing. I have an interesting story to tell because what I do for a living is directly related to Stallone in a strange way. I run a company, ARM TV, that streams via internet armwrestling tournaments from around the world. The sport has been around since the early 50's but it was just bar room back then. Wide world of Sports picked it up for tv in the late 70's early 80's but the sport almost fell into extinction until the movie OVER THE TOP came along. I know it wasn't one of Stallones Better movies and maybe even considered a bomb at the box office. I don't know the stats....but it was the first time the sport was given any real attention in almost 20 years and helped spread the sport internationally. Most of you probably don't even realize the sport exists but it does and I have a lot to be thankful for because this is what I do now for work and I don't think it would have been possible without Mr. Stallone. Definitely that movie would probably never have been greenlit without him. So I wanted to drop by and give some thanks to MR. Stallone for doing that movie...helping kickstart the sport. I only found the sport 3 years ago but decided that I would dedicate my life to breaking it into the mainstream and we are on our way. In fact we have a show on ESPN this saturday night. It has taken a few years but finally television coverage. SWEET. I am sure I won't be lucky enought to get an OVER THE TOP SEQUEL. But atleast, hopefully, my question will get chosen by having Sly give some feedback on his thoughts of OTT and whether or not he knows what kind of impact his movie has had internationally or not. Thanks for all the good reads over the last couple of years and keep them coming!!! I will be seeing ROCKY BALBOA opening day. I am hoping for 130 mil domestic/ 500 international Gary Roberts ARM TV WWW.MYARMTV.COM

Sly back at the movies and in the public eye again (another 80's kid getting nostalgic), gunning for Balboa and Rambo to be successful, for old times sake. Interesting to hear of Sly's affection for Fliesher's Vikings, as as fan of such great scores I'm hoping Sly can retain some of Goldsmith's themes for Rambo IV.

market the the heck out of this and establish it as a regular feature. Maybe give it schlocky label like "AICN 200 From The Fans: The Stallone Interview" to establish a brand, gather some stats on how many unique page views this gets and start some buzz and push it as a "hip" thing for celebs to do. Of course they'd still want to be very selective about who they pick so they don't cheapen the brand with boring celebs with boring answers. Though there aren't many celebs who are 1. intelligent 2. funny 3. candid 4. interesting/have stories to tell 5. willing to take any and all questions 6.capable of handling the possible onslaught of flames from AICN TB regulars if the answers are PC/lame. Though I wouldn't mind seeing all time AICN "favorites" like Uwe Boll, Paul WS Anderson or Michael Bay take the hot seat.

Although I think Damon was good in the Bourne films, I don't think the idea of a First Blood remake with a Gulf War vet would work--because the two wars were not the same. Vietnam was a war few Americans wanted, and returning vets were not exactly welcomed home warmly by anyone except their own loved ones, whereas people largely supported the Gulf War, and vets coming home were saluted. In other words, there's no external impetus for a Gulf War vet to feel ostracized or oppressed. Case in point: A gulf war Rambo could not make the "Nothing is over speech" and have it make sense. Gulf war vets were not seen as "baby killers," nor were they or their actions protested on a grand scale. They came home heroes.

Yeah, I think this is the best feature I've ever seen here at AICN. It is most definitely something that should continue. And like others have said, limit the interviews to top talent and/or living legends. --And allow me to say that I would love to see some great, older tough guy roles open to Stallone. But even more than that, team him with the BEST big budget/action directors in effects driven movies. Bring back the old days and add modern special/visual/computer effects. But don't forget your Batman-style muscle suit, Sly. (heh, heh) And yeah, Pixar could (easily) use Stallone's voice in the sequel to "THE INCREDIBLES", don't you think? Based on a previous answer, Stallone would most obviously be interested. And couldn't you imagine Mr. Incredible being the underdog, with Stallone voicing a younger and more powerful hero or villain???

Got a 9mm JaTiMatic SMG with a laser sight, grenades, M1911 pistol with custom ivory grips, shades and gloves, and a match... Simple red, black colors. Meet the poster - one of the coolest ever. I had it on my wall in the 80's... Where is it now?! Were am I? Not the same room, house, town... Throwing away a good poster - Damn my testosterone! I must have replaced Cobra's with Sabrina Salerno's ..wet..T...pose..ter...

It's kind of depressing when you think about it. That means that as Rocky made it to the top, 1 million other Rockys got owned lol.

Sorry for the long wait for a reply. He has been and done everything. You may not like the guy but he's had a successful movie franchise, successful TV series, been type cast, created a music career(mostly spectacurally bad), fallen to great lows, broke type cast and ressurrected a career, had a successful theater career, has worked with probably 90% of hollywood, suffered great personal tradegy (or something elseif you think he was invovled), and has ascended to American pop icon status.

Like Shanter or not the guy would have interesting answers to a thousand questions. And yeah, he has an ego the size of Jupiter. Damn I sound like a huge fanboy, I just find him damn entertaining.

and comes off like a pretty classy dude. This has actually changed my mind about not seeing his new Rocky flick in theatres. I was pretty underwhelmed by the concept and was going to wait for the DVD, if not for its HBO premiere. I may actually go to the movies and check this out, though I'm still not going opening day. The next flick I'll go opening day to see is Spiderman 3 (those two trailers were phenomenal). As an aside, some of Sylvester Stallone's best stuff, other than early in his career, was done in the early '90's: Cliffhanger--a great action flick but a fluke because it was directed Renny Harlin and since then he seemingly can't seem to direct traffic; and Demolition Man, a witty and highly underrated action comedy where Stallone appears with a young Sandra Bullock and includes that great Rob Schneider "seashells" line. I remember that line making me laugh out loud in the movie theater back then.
I thought "Oscar" was a fun movie

in a retro sort of way. Great for kids. For one thing, it was the first time I saw Marisa Tomei or Tim Curry in a movie, and they were both great.

Far be it for me to give advice to a multi-millionaire movie star, but I think at this point in his career Stallone could be doing more dramas and comedies. It would be cool to see him in, say, an ensemble dramatic film or comedy, playing a small but juicy role in something like The Departed or co-starring in a Farrelly brothers movie---LOL, he could play Ben Stiller's older muscular father. Since he's older and past the action movie stage of his earlier years, I think people would be open to seeing him in different stuff.
Damn you, Michael Keaton...

Or "Damn you, Tim Burton". But don't damn The Dark Knight due to their transgressions. Because I'd say most of us are quite satisfied with the current actor playing the role. I'd say Keaton more so because *White Noise* had such a stupid ending for a flick that held a lot of promise up until that point.
Hey, Keaton was a pretty good Batman.

Yeah, he didn't have an action hero physique but so what? His acting was understated in the part but strong enough to hold the screen with Jack Nicholson in full over-acting scene stealing mode. I think Christian Bale as Batman is awesome, but Keaton is the 2nd runner up with Clooney and Kilmer coming in 3rd and 4th.

IT'S A DREAM COME TRUE! - Anyone remember that SNL skit with Sly? He's working in a computer store after getting fired from the Orange Julius in the mall. He tries to sell Will Ferrell a snack machine, telling him it's a computer. He refers to Star Trek and says Captain Clark. Will Ferrell: "Don't you mean Captain Kirk?" Stallone pauses for like 20 seconds and stares into space before saying, "Clark... Captain Clark."

You're welcome, folks. If the movie is half as good as this trailer, I'll be pleased. It's probably the best trailer I've seen in years.

.....sweet. That last shot in the trailer with the remaining Spartans standing in front of, literally, a mountain of corpses, is just freakin Badass. That, my friends, is how you make a trailer. Studios, take note
