24 Season 6 Prequel

Is the Season 6 Prequel on the S5 DVD set, like they've done in previous years? I heard it exists, but I've only seen it on the internet in horrible quality.

Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari? Oh man, just because a series is old doesn't mean it's a classic! I remember watching this show in the 80's but I'm not interested in revisiting it.

yeah, many of whom were killed in the opening 10 minutes. seriously, i'd like to say day 5 was my favourite (esp with david fury and manny coto writing) but i can't: the first 15 hours were brilliant but the whole cat-and-mouse with Logan after that was kinda flat. the last couple of hours were great though.

I own the region 2 one, that was released almost a month ago. Since the show started here in September or something in the Netherlands, I had to grind my teeth and ignore the broadcast, already awaiting it from Amazon early November. I managed to keep spoiler free all along the year (that included NOT READING whatever Herc and the talkbackers had to say - quite hard). This season (the 5th) is f***ing awesome! Brilliance from the first till the very last minute. Too bad that the season 6 prequel is not on the region 2 dvd box set. There is one floating around on the net for the past week or so, BUT IT IS A FAKE. It uses all these 'old' movies with Kiefer, Morshower, et al and intercuts it. Nicely done, but obviously a fake (the movie with Sutherland in the prison camp is TO END ALL WARS - quite a good movie, but with Kiefer very not Bauer-esque). Can't wait until the real prequel pops online somewhere - I guess today or tomorrow.

When I purchased the set Amazon said, "Only 2 available". Now there's only one, haha. Well worth it.

I was a little disappointed with this last season of 24. It started very well with the shooting and the explosions and the many cast members seeking other employment opportunities, but somewhere about halfway through it kind of ran out of steam for me. The story went all floaty and seemed to be - if I remember correctly - about Jack chasing a cassette tape. And this cassette tape did not have a bomb or a virus or had kidnapped Kim or anything. It was just a regular cassette tape. Not very thrilling. Also, the bit with the submarine felt like someone tacked it on when they realised they were making an action show about a man in hot pursuit of a dictaphone. I did like very much the man who played President not-Nixon, though. he was very good, and also not a crook.

The trailer has been online for a month at 24trailer.com. Unfortunately I can't get it to play anymore, it hangs after the ad. Ah well, it wasn't as good as the season 5 prequel anyway.

I just started with the airing of season 5 and since have bought them all. They're honestly equally great, all for different reasons. That's not to say there aren't weak points in each...we're talking about entire seasons of a TV show. But episode for episode it's the best TV show I've ever seen and I'm a Trekkie.

It's about time! This is some of the best comedic stuff Tom Hanks has ever done! And he had great chemistry with Peter Scolari. This was a precursor to "Friends" and one of the best shows that made pop culture references in the '80s.
That's interesting about Lost, also, with Bosom Buddies

...the best thing about it was it's stereotypical theme song, complete with them hiding in a manhole as one thing, and then coming out as another. I really wish shows today had those incredibly self-aware, cheesy title sequences.

You too, Herc - damn, after seeing all these third-rate sitcoms and craptacular dramas get their day in the DVD sun, I finally will have a chance to hear those immortal words, "Book 'im, Dano - Murder One!" and "Chin - check every club and restaurant on this rock!" - and Zulu as Kono - bruddah, it don't get no beddah!

Thanks, I actually have read scholarly analyses of 5-0 that claim the whole show is McGarrett's drug-induced hallucinations from the pilot. Seriously.

Thank God - I thought I was the only Five-O enthusiast here... Love the show, especially picking out 70's era character actors and later stars - also, did you ever notice in the later seasons that, whenever McGarrett pondered and then came up with a solution, he'd snap his fingers three times? And how Hawaii just seemed to be one island, rather than a chain? Bring 'em on!

And don't forget the local actors they cast who couldn't act worth a damn half the time! Or the never-moving hair of Jack Lord! Man, good times. Good times.
