A fine interview; but watching those early episodes, it's freaky-scary how skinny the female cast members were, likely the result of no food and copious coke. However, you know rewatching Season 1 will make you question why you didn't stop watching circa '82.
Yeah, I can imagine Laraine and the Stones hanging out

....I'll bet Keef taught Laraine a thing or two about tying off and which vein to use. Seriously though, Michael O'Donoghue was a comic god.
I can't wait to get this collection.

The first time through I think I'll only watch the episodes late at night, just like when they originally aired.
I hope these sets continue

I will definitely buy the 1989 season. One of my favorite episodes from that never gets played- the one where Robert Wagner hosted. And one of the funniest sketches "Attack of the Masturbating Zombies" wasn't ever shown after the live airing. Wagner was so damn funny- I wasn't surprised at all the Mike Meyers wrote the Number Two part for him in Austin Powers.
Laraine was pretty criminally underutilized...

...but she always seemed to be the most in-character performer in the group. Gilda had some great characters that she did, but they were all permutations of Gilda. Same to an even greater extent with Belushi and, later, Murray. Chase was always just Chevy and, usually, Jane was just Jane. But Laraine (and, as pointed out, to a lesser extent, Ackroyd) COULD disappear even if she was the only one on camera at the time, and I think that's testament to her talent. I can't wait to revisit this season...truly one of the best in television comedy history.
Wow, lots of Laraine love here...

Fucking unfunny garbage. It's pretty sad considering O'Donoghue's genius, Mr. Mike's Mondo Video is a weird/sweet ass movie.

really was such a revelation for American TV. It was very daring for the time, and they broke the ground for a lot of TV we take for granted today. Oh, and Lorraine Newman in the first season of SNL would be the pick of the litter for me.

I always liked LN when I was a kid. She never got her due. You could never get away from Gilda being Gilda in any of her roles. I Feel pretty much the same way about Garrett Morris not being used enough.
