More I read these, the more I get some new found respect for Stallone. I have always loved his movies (First Blood is my favorite) but I starting to wonder why Stallone has not been writing and working more up until Rocky 6? Sly, you still have great years in you. Get some great stuff done (pull a Clint Eastwood) or something, I will pay to see everything you put out as long you put that kind of heart and thought into it)!!!!!

and Florida deserves this game. Who wants to see Michigan lose AGAIN? As an SEC fan, let me demonstrate the point... W-L (CONF. L): SEC - 100-56 (48), Big "Ten" 77-56 (44). What's that? The SEC has an extra team? Well then let's take out our CHAMPION, Florida: 88-55 (47). You can't go 12-1 in the SEC and NOT deserve the big game.

The setting was kind of unbelieveable though. Why couldn't they just have the detox center in a regular office building? It just HAS to be in this creepy dark place....

I'm dreading the day that they suggest remaking FIRST BLOOD, and it is coming, believe you me. I wouldn't be so pissed at all the remakes if they were actually saying something new, or presenting the material from a different viewpoint. The unfortunate thing is that these remakes (and most films in general) are all garbage... It's like no production gets to have one single voice carrying it all the way through to the screens, for better or for worse. Everyone pulls their punches and second-guesses themselves until what they've got is pablum. I'm really pleased that ROCKY BALBOA is coming, because it always irked me that ROCKY V was the final word on such a brilliant series.
Stallone, Roger Ebert once said you were the actor who could best convey physical pain to an audience, and he was absolutely right. After I watch the training montages, I feel exhausted. It's truly a shame that your rep among most film fans is that you're unintelligent, and that is, in a roundabout way, a compliment to your portrayal of Rocky Balboa; It was so pitch-perfect in every way it convinced everyone that you were him.
I'd love to see you do more mainstream work, but one thing you need to do for your next movie is grow that NIGHTHAWKS Serpico beard back. I'm a fully certified practising expert in the field of badassery, and I can confirm, clinically, that your beard in that flick was and is completely bad ass. Keep on keepin' on, Sly.

He just has had a penchant for choosing some stink awful scripts in the past. But with age and experience, he's learned his lesson hopefully, and the fact that he admits 'Stop or My Mom' was written by a flatworm shows that he at least has learned from that. So I think he could make some great films in the future if he works with good directors and scripts, and 'Rocky Balboa' looks like a winner.

Dec 4th, 2006

I must be the only one that liked Rocky 5. "Hey, Yo Tommy, you knocked him down, why don't you try knocking me down now" was a great line. It wasn't perfect, but it's hardly a bad film. I already asked my question, but I'm hoping he will adress why Sly thought this was so bad. He neglects his son to try and be a father to another pugilist. He tries to find "Mickey" in himself and discovers that he should have been finding himself. Rocky returns to his street roots. Why is this so bad?

...that a 60 year old could last even one round in the ring with a heavyweight champ. They seem to forget that in the movie, the 60 year old in question is a former heavyweight champ himself--probably the best ever--and that the current champ is a young guy who's title defenses were against chumps. In other words, Dixon is a "paper champion" much the way Rocky was accused of being in Rocky III. I've never been trained to box, but I'm sure Sly could kick my ass up and down the street a few times anyway.

Stallone has written scripts for movies. He has directed movies. He has starred in movies. He has worked with your hollywood idols. His films have been oscar nominated, and dare I say, have even WON oscars. Now, I'm not the biggest fan --- after all, he has churned out a few duds in his day --- but generally speaking, people like us don't even have the right to smell his turd. So let me ask you this, Steph_J: what have you done that's so great? What gives you the right to trash the guy for taking time out of his day to respond to questions from fans? Steph, the biggest thing you've ever created is the cum-stalactite above your bed. Stay in your momma's basement and play World of Warcraft, and if you don't like the guy, then I guess I won't be seeing you back here in Stallone's talkback, will I?

Actually, even though most people use Rambo as a symbol of American bravado and military violence, America and the American government is actually Rambo's enemy in the first two films. He even moves to Thailand in the third since he's not welcome there. If this underlying theme is maintained, then your worries would be null, and the film could make a statement paralleling today's horrid state of affairs.

I dont know what it is about sly. I have heard that he is an artist and that he collects art. Like most famous people Sly has a public image and a private one. The private one suggests that sly is alot smarter than people give him credit for. It is the public image ie the characters he plays that make him out to be a dumb ass. Again privately Sly is probably a very smart man, I think the reason why he hasnt been in movies for so long is that he was keen to shred the myth in the publics mind that he is mono-syllabic and not very bright and I think hollywood has a lot of questions to answer about why it never let sly to more films like copland. but there is a reason for this, this site doesnt like copland very much. Sly is an icon and a legend and a star. He got his a break in bananas, believe it or not as a pick pocket. I swear it is true. IF you rent bananas, he is there, briefly in a cameo. I have seen(nearly)all slys films, Cobra was banned in Ireland. Sly has wisely decided to end rocky once and for all. Looking back on it, despite the oscars and the huge amount of respct that sly has from his fans, iget the impression that this guy was never really in control of his film career, which is a shame really. If you look back all you can see is two roles that dominate his career Rocky and Rambo and a few others. I have a story about sly, he arnie and Bruce came to Dublin Town to open Planet Hollywood. Later on in the Burlington Hotel, Sly's unreasonably arrogant behaviour was unshow for all to see, he ordered that that a box be created by metal shutters to keep him away from the press but that was not the worst thing that happened. Dublin has a very famous cigar imporium on the bottom or top of grafton st and sly likes cigars and the owner of it was commanded to bring sly a cigar of the finest quality and it was summoned. The cameras were everywhere and sly being the arrogant SOB he is, was puffing way of his fine cigar, which wasnt fine enough for him because one cameraman on the ground felt a burning sensation on his eyelid and his eye , sly seemingly, had noticed this cameraman on the ground and thrown the cigar in his direction, which hit the cameraman full force in the eye. The cameraman sued and it was settled, but Planet hollywood went under and sly has since been told that he should stay away from Dublin City.

Frank didn't write "Eye of the Tiger." That was performed by Survivor, and, as far as I know, they wrote it as well (Jim Peterik and Jim Sullivan, anyway). That being said, Frank Stallone did write and sing "Pushin'" for Rocky III. You can see / hear him sing it when Rocky and Mick are training for the first Clubber fight in the fancy hotel. It is hilarious and brilliant and groovin' all at the same time.

I am a fan of straight to video movies and have been for a good 20 years. I enjoy a well made piece of crap as much as anyone, however I am not sure how anyone could defend that pile of wank. It cost $60 million and looks exactly like the kind of straight to video stuff that costs a 10th of that. So we can only assume Stallone got a big paycheck, and good for him. It has one of the single worst 'who is the murderer among this small group of strangers' scripts ever written, and trust me that is a pretty shitty sub-genre as a rule. *Spoiler* The big fucking reveal clue is a box of matches from a certain bar. Lets ignore the fact that was overplayed and cliched back in the days of Bogart, it also assumes a chain-smoker somehow hasn't got through a single pack of fucking matches (how many are in those bar packs, like 10?) in over 18 months. And that is just one shinning example of why people shouldn't be given fantastic amounts of money to make films, and yet not have the script actually read by someone with an above 5th grade reading and logic comprehension. Still, I have nothing but love for the Sly, he and Frank need to make an estranged brothers get back together because one of them is dying cryfest to show us the sensitive side of the Stallones...

always fall out. It happens in Music. Mark Knoplfers brother was a founding member of Dire Straits but left because his brother Mark became so Dictatorial over song writing. Dan knoplfer would make a suggestion only to be shot down by his brother Mark. That is why their later albums are so weak. Mark Knopfler became Dire Straits and this lead to the breakup of the band. Or there is the McCartney rbothers. Paul, Linda and Mike McCartney founded Wings with other musicians. But over time Mike McCartney grew angry because is suggestions on songs were ignored or rejected. Mike mcCartney was a key figure in the liverpool sound and his famous song is lily the pink which he recorded with his band the scaffold another member of which was the poet Roger Mcgough.

by GibsonUSA Returns
Dec 4th, 2006
07:08:00 PM
...imo. From the trailer I dont get the feeling that he is going after the title belt like he was in Rocky II ("win!"). In Rocky Balboa things have essentially come full circle. In the first Rocky he was a young man without direction (or hope), simply wanting to prove to himself that he's a somebody, that he can go the distance with the heavyweight champion of the world. In Rocky Balboa he is once again lost, this time as an older man who's lost his wife, trainer, and best friends...everyone says he's too old, to slow, bla bla bla....and once again he's put in a situation where he has the opportunity to "go toe to toe with the champion to say 'I am' ". He's still a somebody, he's still not a bum on the street, and he's here to show the world.

I was under the impression that Sly was given a large list selected by you (Harry) and he answered them, or most of them, as the days tick by. Then he would e mail them to you (AICN) and thus the "cut, paste, post." So just out of curiosity, how does that Q and A process work then? You (Harry) send the 10 questions to Sly. Then does Stallone, or the assistant to Stallone, send his response back for the 10 questions? Sorry guys, but this Q and A is guaranteed COOL NEWS everyday for the next 17 days and I am dire need of just that. Keep innovating Harry.

So you don’t like US Military force in the world…. Maybe that’s cause you are kinda dim witted. Well or maybe your version of Utopia would be better …because the world really would be better if the US had allowed tyranny to reign in WWI, or maybe the holocaust and Fascism to spread during WWII, well at least the North Vietnamese slaughter in the south and concentration/re-education camps were a great result of the US abandoning South Vietnam….well maybe not, but at least it doesn’t count as “real history” cause that wasn’t tracked and editorialized on national TV buy Walter Cron-kight…… boy now that I think about this, you might be right - we need to stop trying to protect people from Communist slaughters ….jeepers, while we are on this subject, maybe we should have backed off the Wonderful USSR during the Cold war and let them have the rest if Europe…that would have been pretty cool huh? Well at least we stayed out of the USSR when Stalin killed his own people by the tens of millions for the grand Marxist design…. I’m just pissed that we didn’t let Saddam keep Kuwait… I mean who are WE to stop a fair takeover and rape of an innocent nation…well at least we haven’t gone all jingoist cowboy on Darfur…that must be a good thing in your world…right? Yup, but other than that what a bunch of jerks the USA consists of… or maybe you just need to get over your mindless anti-overdog syndrome… and grow up.

Foreman was 45 when he beat Moorer. Look it up. In 2004, he announced he would be returning, but then gave it up. I was factually correct.

Yes, never was impressed with some of the scripts he selected but that is a constant in life with all of us. We all make mistakes. His are just more noticeable because they happen to be up on a large screen for the whole world to view. As far as the new movie goes I'm ready to go, I was ready before the QandA. The only two things I truly regret in Sly's carer are that there was no Tango and Cash 2 and that he and Arnold never starred in an actioner together. Sly, you rock. Keep swinging, man.

Clinton before Bush and the 5 other major intelligence agencies indicated Saddam had WMD... just because you don't know the definition of intelligence doesn't make it a lie... it just means you need to pick up a book before you talk so much...

sylvester- I started writing a ROCKY 7! I got to the 17th page then read an article that you weren't doing anymore ROCKY'S. Why not? But yet again if you did another Rocky what would happen?
