Just riddled with cliches, coincidences, and eye-rolling plot contrivances. But it DID have Alan Arkin - I'll give it that.

Pirates commentary

I listened to this last night, and I thought the writers commentary was actually pretty interesting. It cleared up some of the murkiness of the story and also gave a few hints at what might happen in the next film. Mind you, one of them goes HA HA HA quite a bit and is clearly the pants-wearer in the relationship.

Is on my list of the best films of the year 2006, thanks to the EFD/Wardanderson row i didnt get to see The Departed. As a fantasy fan I cant wait to Pans Labyrinth. Alan Arkin Deserves an Oscar and he deserves A liftime achievement award. ONe of the finest character actors america has ever produced.

Superman "Ultimate" set has MAJOR problems!
by Karl Hungus
Nov 23rd, 2006
01:39:22 PM
Not only is the original 1978 sound mix of Superman The Movie missing, so is the entire new disc of Superman III! In R1, Warners shipped the old, unenhanced version, so all the commentary and deleted scenes are missing. For such a hyped set, this is a major botch job! I can't believe Quint is recommending you buy such a faulty product.

Hee hee xoxo Quint. Seriously, Clerks II was awful. I met Rosario Dawson this Summer (HeroesCon, NC), and she seemed embarassed when someone asked her about it.

Surprised Quint hasnt mentioned this one but maybe there hasn't been the hype over its release in the US like there is here in NZ. Looks like you guys can get it on Amazon. It authorised so it'll be full of genuine insights into the movie industry and how he got the passion he has for making flicks :)
MAJOR problem with Superman box set!!!!

There are reports popping up all over the place that there is a big problem with the ultimate Superman box set. The "Superman III" DVD is in fact the OLD bare bones disc even though the art says it's the "deluxe edition." No word if this will affect every set in Region 1 or even if the separate release of "Superman III: deluxe edition" will just be the old version. Warner Brothers has screwed this one up badly.

I look forward every year to this holiday gift guide. It's a great list and a lot of it is on my wish list but there are a few other items people might want to take a look at. They can all be found on Amazon.com. Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Arcade Pinball - a quality home pinball game with a wooden cabinet, a multi-level playing field and LCD scoring display. Johnny Cash At San Quentin (Legacy Edition) - a new 2 CD/1 DVD set containing the entire concert with Cash and his stage show. How I Conquered Your Planet (Paperback) - hilarious new book by famed Simpsons writer John Swartzwelder. Bill's Demon Sword from Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2 Hattori Hanzo Katana with Demon Etched Scabbard Free Stand - A great piece of movie memorabilia and a steal at only $24.00.

Agent Sith: The scene you refer to "He was just a boy, etc." is NOT in the Richard Donner Cut of Superman II. This new cut is a poorly edited mess. /// evilbaby: Thanks for confirming almost exactly what I said a day earlier than you. It appears that all Ultimate "Kryp-tin" sets have the error (along with the missing 1978 mix of Superman The Movie). However, the stand-alone release and Christopher Reeve Collection sets have the correct SIII disc in it. For me, the biggest mistake with this release is the lack of the promised 1978 sound mix. This WAS my most anticipated DVD release for the holidays. No more.

Sorry that I have a life and don't read EVERY SINGLE POST on this site and therefore missed what you had said. I did not see anything from you in this particular case so I thought it wise to mention it.

Statement from Warner Home Video, November 27, 2006
by boyblue
Nov 28th, 2006

Bonus content was omitted from the "Superman III Deluxe Edition" in the 14-disc "Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition." Furthermore, disc one of "Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition" did not include the Dolby Digital 2.0 mix. Neither disc is known to be physically defective in any way. Warner Home Video wants to extend apologies to all of our loyal Superman fans who've waited so patiently for these great collections and has taken immediate steps to correct these errors with the intention of standing behind our product 100%. Replacement discs can be obtained by calling: 800-553-6937. The exchange program applies only to purchases of the "Superman III Deluxe Edition" in the "Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition" and to disc one of "Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition," available as a single title, as well as in "The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection" and in the "Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition."
