I actually tape the shows also. But, I like this switch to Sunday nights. No better way to cap off the weekend than with a new episode of "Battlestar" I say... Easily opens up Friday nights no problem. And...actually the "X-Files" did pretty well on Sunday nights. I don't think it was the move to Sundays for "X-Files" that did it in. It's just that the show was being squeezed past its natural ending. I've always thought it should have ended at season 7.

NBC loses Sunday Night Football in Jan.
by MGTHEDJ

04:05:01 AM
So they put a geek/mostly male show on a sister channel Sundays at 10/9 central. Good move, but what will NBC put in at 10/9 central? It has to be something that will hold the over 25 males but not eat into BSG's audience. Do they have anything that qualifies in their current lineup or "sitting on the bench?"-----later-----m
Not a good sign
by Gorrister
Nov 21st, 2006
04:42:55 AM
True, most single people who stay home on friday nights are losers, but one benefit of having the show on Friday night is that very few people have to be at work on Saturday morning. Moving to Sunday creates a problem in this area. Also, changing a show to a new day is often the first sign of doom. It's been my experience that shows tend to lose audience members with such switches rather than gain.

Now, I gotta say, I am SERIOUSLY pissed off about this. Scifi Friday is pretty much a staple of my life. I LOVE kicking off my weekend with an hour (or more) of science fiction, while having a beer and a bong, then following that with a couple hours playing City of Heroes. On Sunday night though, I cant do any of that, and furthurmore, I can NOT say up that friggin late! Now, how the frack am I supposed to record it without commercials as i do now? I cant afford a freekin tivo, especially not for ONE flippin show! This is ASSININE! Goodbye Battlestar Galactica, I'll be buying the dvd's, but not watching when it actually airs.

Those tightwads at Sci-Fi are at it again. They are going to "Farscape" BSG. It will not matter how many awards this show wins or how much praise it receives from critics and fans. Sci-Fi won't think twice about throwing BSG on the scrape heap if the rating don't improve after this move to Sunday.

Say goodbye to BSG because this is the stupidest move Sciffy could have pulled. BSG will be going up against ABC Sunday night which pulls in whopper ratings with Desperate HouseWhores and Brothers Fucking Sisters. X-Files flopped on Sundays when Fux moved it to that time slot. So we might as well enjoy it while we can, because the ratings are going to tank and this will be the last season for the best goddamn show on television. Bonnie Hammer is purposefully trying to kill the show because it's too expensive, and Sciffy makes more money with wrestling these days.

This could work because...
by NoHubris

...first of all, Without A Trace and Brothers and Sisters are a world apart with respect to the demographic. Secondly, like Wonkabar, I have missed the show on Fridays because I've been out. In the first season, I had to watch the late rebroadcast but even that was a problem at times. I ended up catching what I missed later on DVD...There are alot of people home on Sunday night. The only problem will be those who go to the movies on Sunday nights.

Off topic, but what the hell? The "new" album by the Beatles LOVE is amazing. I skipped the "ONE" compilation and generally frown on repackaging, but this bad boy is amazing. Target (again with the Target plug) has the CD/DVD combo on sale for $15. Don't even think about it...you know you want it. And if you don't think you want it, then you NEED it, baby. "If the sun don't come you get a tan from standing in the English rain"...I'd never understood that line before. I thought it was something like "If the sun don't come you get a ham (blah blah blah) Engish rain". Most worthy.

"Ewwwwwwwwwww, gross!"???? my god, you're insane, xenazhaan.

it never ceases to amaze me when members of our noble fraternity of worldwide geeks say this kind of thing about such exceptional hotness! you're bang on, Colonel - the ladies on this show are, to a woman, drop dead gorgeous and if you, xenazhaan, were to ever find yourself in a situation (while awake) in which any one of them were to even smile at you i suggest (though i accept i *may* be wrong - maybe you're gay: more power to you) that you would go bright red, lose the power of speech and suddenly find yourself walking funny.

07:34:22 PM
Biggstadder called it, the reason both the Stargates and BSG have dropped in ratings, 30% drop for both according to things I've read, is because you are no longer getting the casual crossover viewer. I like all 3 shows but I know many people who are not watching BSG because the SGs are no longer in the same block and vice-versa. For some BSG fans it's hard to fathom why people like the SGs, but they do, and all 3 shows were helping each other with ratings.

Well I have to get up to go to work at 5:30am on monday. Also I've got news for you guys this isn't unusual. Many have to get up at this time. While I can use my DVD recorder to see it. I won't be staying up until 11 to watch it. I really think this is a stupid move. It'll kill SciFi's friday line up. SG1 won't be on any more. SGA isn't popular enough to carry itself so that show's a dead man walking. Doctor Who is great but only on part of the year. I don't know if Torchwood would bring in the viewers by itself. So unless SciFi's got something fantastic planned that we don't know about they've effectively killed off their best night. So what's smart about this? I don't see it bringing in more new viewers.
