Tired franchise

I think the Bush-bashing left wing propoganda semi-documentary has been burned out since Farenheit 9/11. We need to reboot this genre with Daniel Craig as the new Michael Moore and revamp the villian.

regarding the franchise reboot, I wholeheartedly agree - it needs re-tooling to be relevant to today's audience. I suggest casting Crispin Glovers mum as the villain.

The Liberal Democrat's Guide to Politics(tm)
by HillaryLovesMe

1. Democrats protesting something is democracy in action, the people expressing their dissent against the powers-that-be. When Democrats are vocal about something, they are passionate and dedicated. 2. Republicans protesting something is fascism, the powers-that-be attempting to crush dissent. When Republicans are vocal about something, they are angry and hateful. *** This concludes your Liberal Democrat Guide to politics. :) *** Note: This is not a silent praise of Republicans. I'm an independent libertarian, but I'm just annoyed with self-righteous liberals masturbating over their over-inflated sense of martyrdom. Natalie Maines did absolutely nothing heroic; she did not engage in dissent (true dissent is facing down Communist tanks in Tiananmen Square); she did absolutely nothing worthy of the smallest iota of attention placed on her. She is famous, but her beliefs are no more or less worthy of widespread dissemination than anyone else's. "Shut up and sing" makes it sound like the Dixie Chicks were being *forced* to shut up; more leftist martyrdom wankery. The truth is that yes, they should shut up; not because they have to, but because it's annoying. As entertainers, they have to realize that no matter what their beliefs, some portion of their fans will disagree with them, so it's best to -- yes -- just shut up and sing. I don't need to hear any sort of political preaching from my favorite entertainers; I'm there to be entertained, not preached to. I don't go to a music concert to have my beliefs slammed or validated. Maines's comments weren't brave, dissenting, or really all that interesting. They were just plain stupid. Rewarding her stupid comments by paying any attention to her -- either positive or negative -- is a waste of time.

I had only a mild interest in the Dixie Chicks until the shit hit the fan. I'm more of a 70's AOR/Hair Metal kinda dude. Well, I've since picked up their entire catalog, seen them in concert here in DC (which was, according to Natalie, the biggest house they had sold on the "Long Road" tour) and now I am waiting for this to show up at the Landmark E Street theater....DC's home of the Documentry. Hopefully it'll play in Peroia (an at the AMC Hoffman 22, where the seats are plush and the concessionaires take thier sweet time). I hope they make a million bucks and FUCK Clear Channel in particular and Country Music Radio (and Coyote Calhoun) in general. I never heard any of Johnny Cash's "American Recordings" tracks on (the very, very little) country radio I've ever listend to. Shame Shame Shame. Hi Fred!

I mean, really, if you're going to be a writer, know your tools. Depending on spell check is just plain lazy, and ineffective as well. I don't usually play the spell police, but in this case it was pretty bad...
Celebs and their politics

I will never understand why it is that celebrities think they have some duty to enlighten everyone else with their political views. It would be much smarter if they did just shut up and sing. They are, of course, entitled to their views, more power to them, but please, don’t preach. Be an activist, do charity events that support your cause, go into it in interviews if you like. But stop the preaching, like you know it all and everyone else is stupid. The most amazing thing about the Dixie Chicks is that they don’t seem to learn from their mistakes, but persist in repeating them. Chicks, believe whatever you want, but if you want to spew them indiscriminately, don’t complain about the consequences.
Is Capone Retarded?

Capone says that people left them over something that had nothing to do with their music, yet they gave their politics during one of their performances, making their politics apart of their music. They put politics in their music. They also showed they had little in common with their fan base, and they want to cry about that. The Dixie Chicks showed one thing: they are stupid cry-babies and their idiot song "Not Ready to Make Nice" is full of hypocrisy. I was fine with what they said about Bush. I didn't care. But their subsequent response to the reaction has been so terribly dumb and sad. It shows they have cold, prideful hearts. They alienated me not with their politics, but their shallow intolerance. If this movie plays up thier hypocritical actions as heroic, then it is a film by idiots.

I've never understood why the cultists of the party that elected Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, and Clint Eastwood to public office as Republicans always rants about how celebrities need to shut up and keep their opinions to themselves. Oh yeah, they're hypocrites, that's why.

I like how Liberal (Socialist) cultists like to verbally lambaste the Conservative (Patriot) cultists. Well, now you got the House and The Senate. Enjoy! I can't wait to see how long it takes you to fuck it up worse than the pretend Republicans that were the majority a week ago. Both parties are severely hypocritical, but at least the Republicans aren't traitors. There. I hope I piss off the fuck bag Socialists (oops, I mean Liberal Democrats) that post here.

Is that this took place in the sphere of country music. Now no matter who you are, liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican, MODERN (notice I said modern) country music is the most vile, pathetic, unartistic, dumbed down, homogenized form of "music" on the current landscape. It's fans are complete fucking idiots devoid of any taste whatsoever. Anyone who listens to the awful lyrics and shitty musicality and actually feels something other than numb needs to check their fucking right to comment on pop culture, and especially art, at the door. I would hazard to say it's even more laughably awful than mainstream (notice i said mainstream) hip-hop, and that is saying something. The one thing that is unarguably great about LA is they got rid of all thier country music stations.
Fascinating interview, sounds like an awesome doc.

I've read Capone's stuff for not too far off 10 years now... scary as that is... and it's been awesome to see him grow as a writer and interviewer... he's among the best around, and I don't just mean on AICN!

I was already planning to see this film... in part because I have a long-standing crush on Natalie Maines... but this was a great interview.

I want to hear a concert not somebodys opinion on politics. Its sick that people cough up 100 bucks or whatever so a musician can rant about what ticks them off. They have a right to an opinion, but paying to hear it is wrong.

I've been watching this since it went up and the simple fact that so few people have bothered to post tells me everything I need to know about Capone, the chicks, and yet another self-absorbed documentory for the masses, (that would be us...) - no one cares anymore!!! If Hollywood liberals, and art fag writers would let it go everyone could witness the quiet death of an entertainment cash cow and move on with our lives...
