In New York you get The Evil Dead musical in the UK we get a three hour long Dirty Dancing musical and Daddy Cool - a musical based on the hits of Boney M!!!! Damn it and damn your revolution! Sigh!

It does have hatchet faced Michelle Collins in it and I am one hundred percent sure she is only one second away from jumping onto the ceiling and screeching at any given time!

This is a brilliantly ludicrous idea and it would make for a pretty great Halloween night out, I think. For some reason, when I think of this Evil Dead musical it reminds me of the Wednesday and Pugsley Shakespeare scene from one of those Addams Family films. I would very much like to see this, so let's hope it comes to England at some point (and let's hope they don't hire any ex-boyband members to play Ash).
I can so see it...

If its as good as it sounds, it could be this generations Little Shop of Horrors, easily.

Quite a good time. I highly recommend the "splatter zone" if you don't mind a little fake blood. The man himself, Bruce Campbell, will be doing a Q & A after the November 2nd show. They dropped the price of tickets to $25 for the rest of the run. Any Evil Dead fans in New York should defintely check it out.

Saw this show on their very first preview night, October 2nd. The show was fantastic! I liked the show because it was fun and didn't take itself too seriously. The guy who plays Ash is fantastic. Splatter Zone is definitely the place to be! Also, as Slone13 mentioned above, Bruce will be there for 2 shows in early November. Wish I could go again!

I hate to be the first to say this, but I saw this two weeks ago and was shocked at how terrible it was. Just amateurish and unfunny and a terrible wasted opportunity. I couldn't even conceive that I would leave the theater hatin this, as its a concept seemingly impossible to fuck up, but boy, did they ever. The actors mug and act "funny" the whole way through, the guy playing Ash is wretched, the whole thing stinks of pandering. It has a wildly low estimation of its target audience. Every quotation from the film (and there are way to many-like 30 or so) is delivered straight to the audience with a wink and a nod. The blood sequences are stupid-the actors just pull out a visible bladder and dump it on the front row. Save your money, do not see this. Certainly don't go come to New York just to see it. Need further proof? They actually rip off a joke from Billy Madison ("If bleeding to death is cool, consider me Miles Davis!")

Even if this review was a plant. So what. It still sounds like a cool idea. slone13 sounds like he's not a musical fan, which is fine. I think I would compare this to the Dad's Garage version of "Cannibal: The Musical!" Which was fucking brilliant. Then again, it was Trey Parker who wrote the songs. I don't know the backstory on the comedy writers of Evil Dead : The Musical. If you are a fan of this type of psychosis, try "Silence of the Lambs: The Musical" and sing along... Put the fucking lotion in the basket...

Not everyone lives in New York! Cannibal the Musical has a special place on my DVD shelf, right by the Evil Dead films. . . Adding this would fill that gap between them!

Which may have had something to do with why I hated it. I was hoping for a show along the lines of Little Shop of Horrors or Batboy, but it doesn't even come close to Cannibal quality. Seriously, this show sucks all hell.
