Sheen?

He's a good actor this Michael Sheen, although him not being an actual Sheen is somewhat confusing, like that Baldwin who's not an actual Baldwin. There should be a copywright or somesuch.

Sheen's a great actor and has that chameleon like quality, a sort of brit Billy Bob. If you get the chance check him out in another TV role "Kenneth Williams: Fantabulosa!" in which he played the incredibly camp British comedian.

I understand that if I'm first I'm supposed to announce my firstness and then face a subsequent castigation for making said claim. I apologise for not adhering to this custom.

He was great in the Queen and the deal, but then I watched Underworld a couple of weeks ago (utter crap) and I only realised about halfway through it was the same guy, he's so good. He's good in Stephen fry's bright young things too. I hope that in the proposed movie version of Frost/Nixon Ron Howard keeps him as Frost.

What do you mean? I give it a run through with the clippers every four weeks, whether it needs it or not. Military style is only way to go for me.

I saw this at the Donmar last month and I can't recommend it enough, it was excellent. Sheen is great as Frost and Langella and the script treat nixon very fairly. It would have been easy for them to do that.

He's so underused here. It seems like every film he's in *other than Underworld* they have him for maybe 2 minutes and then they kill him. Take Kingdom of Heaven for instance. Boom! he's gone within the first five minutes of the movie. He was the only thing worth watching in Timeline and Laws of Attraction. Heartlands was great though, even if his hair was scary. I'm still hoping that they do the prequel of Underworld and have him as the star. He made Lucian amazing.
Gotta agree with all the above....

He's rapidly becoming the UK's best actor. He's definetly one of those chameleion type actors. If you look at one of our other best actors - Ray Winstone - he's great, but essentially the same guy each time (possibly with the exception of Sweeny Todd). Sheen on the other hand, appears alomst unrecognisable each time he appears on screen. If he doesn't get at least a nom from Oscar there's gonna be murders goddammit!!

by far. I did like The Departed though, too. It is still early, but I can't recommend this movie enough. Has there been a review at all on here?

The first time I saw him was as Kenneth Williams in Fanabulosa and he was great, it was so funny and sad and moving. He doesn't look much like Williams but the vocal mimicry was amazing. Hell of an actor.

Great discovery about Blair's pjs

I thought the scene in The Queen where Blair appeared to be wearing a Newcastle football club t-shirt as his pyjamas was silly. But now it turns out that Michael Sheen actually found out about that directly from Blair's daughter. Weird. My admiration for his research has increased. Michael Sheen was also great in Bright Young Things and, briefly, playing Jeremy Dyson, the unspeaking fourth member of League of Gentlemen in their so-so Apocalypse film. The Deal's a much better film than The Queen - it's almost Shakespearean while the sequel, though great fun, verges on pantomime. Mainly because anything with Prince Philip in it is bound to be a bit comical. I'm guessing when Brown is made Labour party leader Channel 4 will show The Deal every Christmas - Brown comes out almost sweetly in it, as a moral, hard done-by Scottish teddy bear lacking political guile (not the embittered creature he now appears).

and he seems really sweet. I wonder if Kate Beckinsale became a toxic bitch after they broke up... or if that's why they broke up. hrm.
